  • Why is tele757 so butt hurt about people liking The Black Keys. One GREAT quality about this band? Their individuality. Let us have ours 757. You've got your opinion, we have ours. CLEARLY our opinions outweigh your's by a LARGE margin. So either get over it, or continue to troll youtube comment sections.... Weirdo.

  • @Godfather8907 There are three things trolls hate in life: Being ignored, being trolled, and the Dragonborn.

  • Fuck this is good. Like,,,, FUCK! this is GOOOD!

  • Groovy. I like the Black keys. good Rock 'n' Roll

  • first of 2012 ha

  • jizzed in my pants

  • 5:13 makes my ears have an orgasm.

  • @coatsy1523 the entire song makes ur dick have an orgasm.

  • one of the many Black Keys songs i can put on repeat.

  • If Clapton is God then Dan is Jesus. WIth the beard he's halfway there

  • @MrBobcatswim200 so are you suggesting he shave it or grow it longer?

  • @MrBobcatswim200 if neither is true, then the creator is woman.

  • thegoodteacher(dot)com

  • And trust me, good will is gone.

  • It was July 2010, I'd been in Iraq for 11 months. I had one month left, and all I could think of was getting out of that place. All I had was this song, and a prayer.

    A prayer and a song.

  • And thats why I love music, Fuck me I fucking love these guys!

  • its all just waves anyways, the emotion you persuade is the key

  • people are comparing dan's voice to that of a combination of fergie, jim morrison and jesus. i can see where they get the connection

  • i think the black keys white stripes comparison has to do with the fact that they're both two piece blues bands with sick guitar tone. listen to jack whites i fought piranhas (really his whole first album) and almost all of his albums and you'll see nothing but blues.

  • @bigtravis1313 the stripes are blues?

  • @KiDTRiiPz jack whites playing style is very blues induced. if you listen to their self titled first album it's blues rifts up and down the album. he progressed and made his style more uniquely his own, but if you listen to their albums, not just their radio stuff, but their albums you'll find an overwhelming amount of blues. a number of their songs lyrics were actually songs written by blues musicians in the 30's.

for now look up i fought piranhas and follow some of the links from the vid.

  • i dont know why i think of this as led zeppelin un guitars and the drums being from the white stripes wiht the voice of jesus

  • this album is great.

  • @stinkybitches keep looking, look your entire life, you will not find one song that dan touched that you do not like. I promise. if you do, ill buy you icecream. but i will stick it in your face for saying you didnt like one of his songs :P

  • This song sums up the exact feelings I had when I left Iraq in one beautiful sounding piece of art.

  • @chilling10680 people are dumb and think that bands that consist of 2 people are going to sounds the same....

  • Oh yeah ma brotha pass da pipe dude! .-)

  • i just discovered these guys a day or two ago and have been listening to their songs on youtube non-stop since then....and i've got to tell you ive yet to hear a song i did not like....

  • :o holy shit that was really good.

    GOODBYE BAD_SONGS

i am going to listen to this forever.

  • hey tele 757.

    fuck you

  • @tele757 Listen to "I'm Not the One" from the Brothers record and then tell me that the Black Keys suck.

  • Boy, this guy tele757 is everywhere! Dude, go take your telecaster and stand on the street corner and play for nickels.

  • all the keys songs sound the same and less real than the real blues acts before them. The keys are more into putting a groove down, which is far easier than writing something original. The black crowes song walk believer and others off of War paint are the real deal compared to this laughable shit. Total complacent hipster music. Anyone can write grooves, memorable blues songs far more difficult. This is all been done be for and better

  • guys if you want to talk about the black keys stay on a black keys video, if you wanna talk about the white stripes, talk on a white stripe video, there different bands with different perks and(allthough minor and insignificant) both have problems sometimes. athough there both landmarks which stook out in the sea of autotuned automated shit just dont compare as there just different :) but thats just my view, kay im done im not hating btw :)

  • Um, the white stripes clearly have a lot of blues influence.

  • Its because their both color coded (Black and White) and both begin with "the" and they both are a blues duo. and they both kick so much ass

  • the reason why the black keys and white stripes get compared is because there basically the only two bands from the past decade who actually have an understanding of the blues

  • @able506 and they both have two members

  • @able506 oh really? The Black Keys are Blues-rock oriented, while The White Stripes are an Alternative one with no influence of Blues whatsoever

  • @tomixboy how do you explain "Death Letter" then?

  • @sk8rbuoi okay, my bad that I mentioned that they don't have any Blues influence, but that slight influence still can't be compared to a defining genre...

  • @tomixboy Death Letter (Son House), Stop Breaking Down (Robert Johnson), Catch Hell Blues, Ball and Biscuit....

  • The Black Keys and the White Stripes are both amazing. End of discussion.

  • This shit ... IS STRAIGHT - UP - GROOVIN !!! I love stuff that just grooves to me. And this is one band that has impressed me since i've started listening to them

  • Whitestripes dont have that soul. nuff said.

  • fuck this is good

  • @phat989 Haha I love it when people use profanity to praise Keys.

  • @kidokuh fuckin a

  • The Black Keys OWN :)

  • all i could say is thank fucking god for pandora, i have every album of theres and love everyone

  • Ahh, if I didn't already play guitar, this would have made me want to start playing. Magic Potion in its entirety is an ode to good, old-fashioned rock. Drums. Guitars. It sounds too simple, but holy shit Magic Potion takes it to another planet. I imagine Jimmy Page sitting in a rocking chair in his music room with this blasting, and him just nodding his head, saying to himself, "Yeah...these guys got it."

  • Maybe with Brothers you can compare music wise, it being more polished, but Thickfreakness, The Big Come Up, and Magic Potion not at all....... The Keys are just a lot more raw, with a more classic sound, wayyy more bluesy and vocally they sound a lot different.

  • I don't get the Stripes and Keys comparisons, they're really different bands.

  • @Chilling10680 I totally agree with you. I just don't see much in similarities.

  • @kidokuh I think its because both bands have only two people, a singer/guitarist and a drummer. But yeah, that's about the only similarity.

  • @kidokuh A 2 man blues band is a pretty obvious similarity, the different things they have going is only because of the different minds but thats obvious.

  • @kidokuh maybe because theres 2 ppl in each band, keys > stripes.

  • @kidokuh

they are very similar. both are 2 person minimalist bands with heavy influences in blues. however i dont think they should be compared

  • @kidokuh well the distortion the use sound alot like alot of the garage rock type stuff jack white frequently uses to me anyway

  • @kidokuh beyond the two people that is where the similarities end.

  • @kidokuh If you compare songs like Dead Leave and the Dirty Ground with a lot of the black keys, you can hear the similarities. Both Jack White and Dan Auerbach are considered guitarist who have more emotion in their solos rather than a lot of flashy techniques, and both bands are considered two piece bands, guitar and drums.

  • @kidokuh its because they're both two piece bands that emphasize on the guitar sound, but thats where the similarities end.

  • @Chilling10680 they both have two members AND they both have a prepositional color in their names. they both speak english... maybe if they did join forces to form the super group 'zebra keys', you'd see not in stark contrast, but fluid comparison. i'm just sayin'.

  • @Chilling10680 theyre from ohio

  • @Chilling10680 They both are in the same genre. Both were inspired by original and delta blues musicians. Both due many blues covers. Both have amazing electric guitar solos in many of their tracks. Both have a sound thats has been non existent to todays younger generations. They are both generally 2 people and 2 piece bands. Im sure their displays at the rock and roll hall of fame will be in close proximity. the list goes on my friend. We are lucky to have them both.

  • @Chilling10680 It's an easy topical comparison. Both comprise only two members: a guitarist and a drummer, which today is enough to pigeonhole the two bands. Anyone who likens the two doesn't know what they're talking about.

  • @Chilling10680 I think the only similarity is, that both are nearly incredible good.

  • @Chilling10680 They're different but you can't say that they don't have a lot of similiar qualities. I completley understand why people would compare them, I did as soon as I heard the black keys.

  • @Chilling10680 They're both stripped down, no frills garage rock duos with a penchant for the blues, and they both record on vintage analog equipment.

  • @UpFromTheSkiess I was about to say the same thing except a lot more words lol

  • @UpFromTheSkiess oh really, they use vintahge equipment--that s the only thing they do, Everything else is subpar. SO many better authentic blues bands in this genre

  • @tele757 I think they're both great bands, but that's just my opinion, to each their own. I wouldn't consider them blues bands though.

  • @Chilling10680 i think its because the 2 piece and the blues roots but these guys are deff far from the stripes, theyre more bare. better in my opinion tooo (:

  • @Chilling10680 Yea only that there both a 2 piece blues based bands kickin out amazing tunes, (well not the stripes anymore) but besides that yea there soooo different!!!

  • @Chilling10680 Yea only that there both a 2 piece blues based bands kickin out amazing tunes, (well not the stripes anymore) but besides that yea there soooo different!!!

  • @Chilling10680 I feel like the stripes/keys comparison has to do with the fact that theyre two bands that make some great, real rock music. Also a lot of jack's guitar riffs are similar to the ones the keys use

  • @KyleBinLaden But the Black Keys do it right.

  • @Chilling10680 They're tones are totally different but in certain songs they have similiar style of guitar playing

  • @Chilling10680 they're both heavily influenced by blues

  • @braklefrakle0 that's true, but they have COMPLETELY different sounds. Have Mercy on Me, I'll Be Your Man, Hold Me in Your Arms, Thickfreakness, Everywhere I Go........... The White Stripes have nothing that sounds remotely close to those songs, plus Dan and Jack have completely different sounding voices.

  • @Chilling10680 i think people compare the two because of the fact that both the stripes and the keys dont have a bass player.

  • @Chilling10680 It's really not that complicated. One drummer, one guitarist. Amazing, soulful sound with blues influences. Great having sex to. That's about it.

  • @plechazunga00000 they sound COMPLETELY different though, Dan's voice and the dude from the White Stripes couldn't be more different. I'll admit I haven't listened to much of The White Stripes but I haven't heard anything from them that sounds remotely close to songs like The Lengths, Hold Me In Your Arms, I'll Be Your Man, I could go on and on. Completely different sounds and completely different vocals.

  • @Chilling10680 noo way man jack white, instrumental-wise, is really similar to tbk earlier albums, not so similar to unknown brother or el camino but wow similar in the early stages, vocal wise it's the same overall feel but different style

  • @Chilling10680 I agree, Jack White had more of a pleading, outward tone. Dan's more like a soulful, mellowy mood.

  • @Tyme4Cryme well put... I love... well have a GREAT time singing, dancing & being silly to Jack's "Live" voice in TWS, AND yeah.. relax with that sexy voice of Dan's with the TBK. Btw- listening to Mr. Junior Kimbrough will teach you why Dan honored him... Take it or leave it, but don't deprive yourself of GREAT MUSIC! That would be Sinister Kid move-lol...** shit--Son House was amazing too (inspired Jacky White)

  • @Chilling10680

They are 2 piece bands that are almost exclusively blues rock. Their names are even fairly similar "The White Stripes" and "The Black Keys". Their music is different because they are 2 different bands BUT both bands use blues scales extensively with a muddy (almost garage-band) quality about it. Actually quite similar in music, even if you don't hear it.

  • I saw them open for kings of leon and it was fucking amazing I would love to see them play a full set

  • why are so many offended when someone says the keys are better than the stripes? its a matter of preference...i happen to prefer the keys' music because it FEELS authentic, like the blues...i do not prefer the stripes because, although i have tried to find the magic others' seem to see in them, they just come off as contrived and artsy-fartsy.

  • @roger16trekkie I have to agree. I've listened to a lot of both the keys and stripes after seeing so many people compare them. And like you said, The Black Keys just feels more like real music. The Keys sparks an emotional response from me that The White Stripes just doesn't. so I have to say that This Band is better.

  • @roger16trekkie it feels authentic becaue of analog equipment, bu the chops are not there, the voice is not there and the arrangement is not there. Just droning groove which is far easier to write than coherent good songs

  • i wish it lasted 9 minutes....

  • thank you for the upload! :) great song!!!!

  • I almost came when I saw this video was 9 minutes long. Then I remembered this songs only 6 minutes.

  • Fuck yes. Just saw them 3 days ago. Their recordings dont do them justice. See them live!

  • @budman8822 if their recodringg dont do them justice its because they have no songs just grooves.

  • How can a band be better then this.. pure magic to my fuckin ears man

  • @grrrrrrrr44 uf they really knoew how to play drums and guitar like session players and wroite sings instead of empty grooves your ears would decipher the differnce. But maybe you were born to late

  • Never heard a bad black keys song...

  • i just discovered these guys. i feel much better about our generation's contribution to music history. these guys are amazing!! <3

  • Dooope soong maan

  • These guys are gooooood :D

  • some great bands get old after a while.. ive been listening to the Black Keys for 6years and i cant get enough of them. Long Live the Black Keys!!

  • dopest shit

  • theres not one song i dont like from them, there all amazingly awsome

  • No one, no matter how hard they try, can sound like The Black Keys

  • Listening to lady gaga is like chewing on a fake strawberry gum,

Listening to these guys is like eating a 5 course dinner at a star restaurant

  • Although I have heard much about The Black Keys, over the past few years, I am just now "discovering" these guys, and I feel like kicking myself, for not having looked them up, sooner. I LOVE this music. Period.

  • @312chicagoadam The Black Keys is pure, good music.

  • @kidokuh You must've watched an old Kool-aid commercial.

  • @kidokuh I was at the show at the Aragon Dec. 30th. Ya gotta hear them live.

  • @hughhefnerjr I've heard them live 3 times already buddy. No need to tell me. Tell it to the rest of the world; the people who haven't heard of The Black Keys. =)

  • @hughhefnerjr no u got here the black crowes live the most rock and roll blues band around today

  • @312chicagoadam

Agreed. I started listening to them in 2004. It's been awesome to watch good music receive the credit it deserves, just because it's so good. Go to a live show. It's out of control. They are freakin' excellent live.

  • @312chicagoadam I'm in the same boat, but better late than never!

  • @312chicagoadam

Don't have to kick yourself... that's how everyone feels hahahah

  • @312chicagoadam pretty pissed off at myself as well. Went and picked up their first album and decided to start from the beginning after hearing Brothers. i have heard bits and pieces also but never took time to follow up on the "hey that was a good song" thought.

  • @tgarl64 well,,,,I guess "better late, than never" would be most appropriate for us, yeah? LOL!!!

  • THIS, THIS IS THE SHIZZZZZ..... VERY BEST.

  • why does everyone compare these guys to white stripes, its like comparing them to aerosmith, or buddy guy, or neil fukin secada. u like it or u dont, drawin comparisons just seems dumb.

  • @lardosapien I think people compare TBK to TWS because they are both modern blues/rock bands that are quite good. I (and most people who enjoy this type of music) like BOTH.

  • this is the first song I heard by them.....probably more than 2 years ago....I remember...on Pandora radio..then my friend gave me this album. still my favorite....but too afraid to love you, howlin for you and chop and change...are their best new ones in my opinion.

  • just when i thought music is dead these guys came along. brilliant timeless rock.

  • you've introduced me to The Black Keys. I thank you !

  • this song kicks ass. i heard it in hot topic today and had to know what it was! good thing for shazam. :]

  • @katiesaysscream when someone named "katiesaysscream" mentions your favorite band in the same sentence as Hot Topic... well, that is BAD NEWS

  • @evolved33 how is that bad news?

  • Two songs from this album are in my Black Keys Top 3...Black Door and this one. Also Have Mercy On Me from Chulahoma.

  • thank you so much for uploading this!! it´s just incredible

  • Comment removed

  • Damn.... if only my headphones could go louder.... these guys are the end man.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheDaftVolta no...

  • Even though i cant stand the twilight phenomenon, I am forever grateful to the Eclipse soundtrack to introducing me to this incredible band!

  • good music will always find a place to be heard, whether in a dive bar, your local small venue, or a friends garage, just not on mtv or the radio..people are sheep

  • If it weren't for the white stripes, I don't think we would be listening to The Black Keys right now. Jack White opened the door to the Blues Revival, and now The Black Keys are taking it one step further.

  • @PatMcCarthy420 ho whav ethey taken anythingng further. They are subpar wannabes blue sguys

  • @tele757 They've taken Blues and fused it together with their own sound, which is pretty nice in my opinion..

  • @PatMcCarthy420 i agree

  • dude man was channeling hendrix

  • these guys are wayyyy too good for the radio!

  • @yutubemealliee agreed

  • i love it.

  • Everytime I hear this song I think of the book of Revelation and our situation in this time in history we find ourselves in. Anyone else with me? Not trying to start a religious debate here but it blows my mind to ponder america as mystery babylon.

  • man this was the first song i have head by the black keys. I was with my sis going to school and i was like HOLY crap this is the best thing i have ever heard and was instantly hooked!

  • this album rocks the shit... i luv it..

  • mmmmm..yummy yummy

  • Is this the album they recorded with an 4-track from the 80's in the Auerbach's basement?

  • Could anybody tell me what pedals Dan uses throughout Magic Potion album?

  • @Timeconsumer9 ,you might check out the liner notes to see if the pedals are listed on the record

  • Actually I believe this song is in favor of supporting our troops, and that goodwill is gone when they are left alone

  • Even though BlakRoc is the least liked of mine, all of there albums have been awesome. I cant wait for the initial release of Brothers.

  • i just got put on to the black keys after listening to the blakroc project they did which was amazing, and i swear i cant get over dan's voice, it sounds like hendrix or somethin, nd its got that soulfull blues sound mannnnnn....im a big hip hop head and i usually dont get too impressed by many newer rock bands now a days b/c alot of them r whack, but these guys r crazy, glad i stumbled onto their music

  • Hendrix....

  • @jsgilbert You're right- it's quite Hendrix -like sound (with a bit of distorted BB King, or Billy F Gibbons' early ZZ Top guitar?) There's a lot of John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) in the drums, too I think...

  • @CMalburn I can see where your coming from with Bonhams drumming, specialy on this song - but i think the drums sound more like mitch michel (from the hendrix experience) Specialy alot of the fills, lots of tom work :D

  • @pl3ppp he is not a good drummer, mitchel was quirly to bu many leagues above carney. Are u high to compare Carney t Bonham. Get a lif

  • @tele757 I love how you seem to think your god, Everything your typing is your bullshit opinion, That is very hard to understand due your shit typing abilities. Yes, JB was a IMMENSE drummer, and key's drummer is awesome two. Your too far up your own ass to realise that Blue's isnt about 'OH IT HAS TO BE THIS, THIS AND THIS,' Its soul, passion and feelings. ITS REAL MUSIC, And im pretty sure thats what this is. Twat.
