The makeup was good, Jim Carrey was annoying because he talked in an annoying way whenever he talked, made strange movements and voices whenever he talked, and made odd and weird faces whenever he talked, Hoosville looked like it was covered in mist, and only part of the movie is really close to the book. The part that annoyed me the most was scenes like A: the mayor kissing the dogs ass, (which wasn't funny). And the whole Grinch backstory was pointless and completely unneeded.

@matrixfan127 the grinch back history was needed to show how much and why the grinch hated christmas. the mist Whoville was covered in was fog and SNOW duh.and of course only part of the movie can be part of the book because the book is really short and only takes a few minutes to read. And whats wrong with talking weird (which was only sometimes he talked), making weird faces and sometimes making weird movements now get in the christmas spirit and be happy

@matrixfan127 CGI SUCKS!!!! All the best films including horror films are miles better with actual characters than films with CGI characters. For example "Jaws" the actual shark was a realistic looking robotic shark, if the shark had been CG it would have been shit, like this dam "Shark Night 3D" film they've brought out!

Thats why I'm a stop motion animator, not a CG animator! The difference is I'm standing in a whole miniature world thats actually there, not sitting in front of a computer!!

@matrixfan127 Their intention was to take the baisic story & amp it up to be more entertaining, unexpected, to shine a new light, to re-invent the characters. The grinch story that you like is already perfect as it is in it's original, classic form. There was no intention to copy it, b/c copying is pointless, and you can't make a classic better. Instead the goal was to make a NEW adaptation of it. If you don't like the movie that's fine, but please don't blame it on the fact that it's unfaithful

It became a Christmas classic all around the world, in Germany i saw the Cartoon Grinch once about 10 years ago, that's it.

Ever since i watched THIS here in cine when it came out i watch it every Christmas season, my little cousn at the age of 4 wanted to watch it over and over, i guess after the 50th time she was satisfied xDDD

Elf is another modern one that aires everyyear and i like, especially the ending is pure christmas spriit.
