  • That did not use this for science, they put it in a sushi roll.

  • wow what a waste for science... Do they realize how fucking difficult it is to find a live giant squid... get out of the water please...

  • Poor poor squidward at least hes free from mr crabs slavery.

  • Why did they kill it?... I Love you Japan, but please get out of the God damn water.

  • CALAMARI FOR EVERYONE!!! YIPEEEE! Nobody go hungry tonight!

  • 共食い?

  • Im all for science and research, but this animal actually died due to injuries sustained by their attempted capture, seems like a waste of life to me...

  • apparently its unedible.... that was until now with the new blendtec blender

  • thats a whole lot of fried calamari waiting to happen

  • Wonder how it tastes :o

  • @Xzy666 i'm assuming tastless and gooey

  • and he said that theyre gonna make it sushi 0:55 haha

  • its the crakken!!!!

  • they must feel very proud. they couldnt have just filmed it and get on with their lives and let it do the same.

  • can anyone translate this shitt?

  • Don't be Racist Gay Craps

  • Now it will become SUSHI! YUM YUM

  • I doubt it got to stay live after that... X_X poor thing.

  • Wow! A beautiful special creature in it's habitat! And what do you do!? You kill it, well done! One less amazing squid to look at now. Congratulations! (English sarcasm)

  • @emmasareen So, where did you gather that they killed it? If the thing didn't get away on its own, it was almost assuredly released.

  • a creature that lives in the deep and is not designed to migrate from those depths should never be brought to the surface. a squid of this size would be a monster predator and in its habitat and would be able to efficiently kill prey, including other squids, the size of a human. it is clear this squid is dying. this squid will probably end up as sushimi. stop killing whales and dolphins. technology is not an excuse to increase tastes for a kill that may have been a rare occasion in the past.

  • that is going to be some really good calamari.

  • Seriously, chill out. Just cuz its something you don't see everyday at the fish market doesn't mean its no different from sausages from pigs and burgers from cows.

  • hurr japanese are bad guys because I don't know them, just like anything else.

They're probably going to do bad thins that should like omg ttly not be done.

  • Is this for REAL? I know the Giant would be dying, so jet propulsion and muscles would appear pathetic, but seriously a live one! If only we could get more information on their lives during regular lifestyles founfd in their natural habitat. How long they live? What they eat? How they communicate, social like the Humboldt or alone? Normal squid only live a year to two years. Humboldts are lucky to make 2 years, and they grow 6 feet. But 60 feet in 2 years, just should not happen!

  • @RtasVaduum I reckon they live for 40 years or so :)

  • Cryptozoology novel see video book trailer

  • imagine...calamari the size of ur tires!

  • oh so chinese food is now going to be giant squid, not dog anymore

  • @tomdabom713

    Fuck you racist shit eater

  • @sijotakane Reminds me of the fucken little Japs wanting to eat shit like whales to make their little brown ballsacks bigger. Want proof their balls are the size of peanuts? Take a look at their whale hunting boats - the write 'RESEARCH' on the sides because they don't have the balls to be honest. Research?!? Bullshit! Fucken Jap cunts

  • @PJL10100 eat Kim Jong Woon's shit and calm down, religion mad Austkorean.

you terrorists are shame of all human kind, go to hell

  • I hear there is one they just got that weighs two tons but can't find that vid that thing is tiny compared to how big they can get over a school bus length not a short bus either :P

  • I hear there is one they just got that weighs two tons but can't find that vid

  • wow i thought it was going to be a whale sized giant squid

  • @DipinSauce It was a small female.

  • dlfmbkznvb na/dfgmnhba/fdçvn k paklfnmgvçkn bpçasonELmehfkBN"Skyline - A Invasão"

  • @junior19851000 I KNOW RIGHT???

  • ダイオウイカの餌はイカなの?

  • @psvjpn111 huh

  • Does this have a TRANSLATE TO ENGLISH button?

  • who wants calamari?

  • @trumpetdude1998

me makes mines spicey at kona grill they make it hella good.

  • GODZILLA!!!!!

  • SOMEONE MAKE A TRANSLATION OF THIS VID PLZ!!

  • Japs do love seafood...but could catch those ordinary ones and leave the whales alone?

  • i heard if the baby squid went to 23 feet from the surface they died in new pressures.

  • Hm... :-/ It's not that big, I expected it to be way bigger.

  • You won't get sushi out of this thing, but you will get HUGE CALAMARI RINGS!!!!!

  • ATlas is probably the dumbest fucking kid i have ever seen post a comment on youtube.

  • now there going to go eat the thing

  • @seeyouinaugust1 hmmm sushi ^,..,^ that one will last for one week, but If you ask me I prefer it to be cooked into kalamares (fried squid).

  • I wish everyone would make videos in english, or at least with subtitles..

  • This is a bit cool, i want that too xD (I'm not american)

  • That thing is huge, I saw the one in Australia's museum but this is 'fresh' imagine that thing growing to about 80 feet. Guess we still have a lot to learn about this planet.

  • Hey I had one of those "OH GOD I KILLED IT" See we were fighting under the sea and this squid was like hey what are you doing here, and i was like "Say WHAT BITCH" Long story short that squid isnt gonna be bothering anyone anymore. RIGHT!!

  • They eat it or sumtin

  • make more money for fisherman

  • @gillharjot1996 "OMG look! An ultra-rare idiot! It doesn't understand that they tried to capture it alive, but it struggled and killed itself!" -Rational human being

  • Uhhmm...they're scientists, right? Couldn't they be more

careful when catching the squid?? I mean, their technique

isn't the best when you want the animal ALIVE...

  • @sapphireglow03 That's the only way to catch one. It's not that harmful to the squid, honestly. Sorta like how a fishhook doesn't really hurt a fish.

  • that looks delicious

  • the japs probally ate it

  • @JordoF6 japanese eat seafood therefor i would have no doubt that they ate it...it was dead so y waste it?

  • they shouldn't have let it died

even though it can threaten the humans

this discovery can make us aware of the giants

    but its still scary...

  • Better than whale

  • fucking sick people :@

  • Amazing, however that's just a baby Architeuthis at 3.5m. The mature ones reach 10-20 metres (35-60 feet). i can't fathom how awesome it'd be to see one in real life.

  • Calamari AGAIN???

  • Wow fcking huge!!!

  • food!

  • i really don't think that skewering the squid with a poking stick thingy helped its chances of living....

  • @RustedPlatinum They didn't...they caught a small squid...the big squid started to eat the little squid. Then they yanked. :P

  • LMFAO did someone call this an octopus?

  • it's dead

  • yummy....

  • woww, i thik they usually only come up topside because they are dying. i said i think; so don't hate on me.

  • looks like a humbolt.

  • PLACE YOUR BETS... NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jk jk

  • its a colosl squied not a giant squied

i saw the same video on a documentery

  • no, this is a giant squid, a colossal squid has a far larger hood

  • poor Squee :(

  • nice....

  • hey genius their Japanese people. dumb ass!

  • like i give a big fuck Gileum

  • son unos hijos de puta

  • fucking retards standing and laughing when they kill it ... damn i wanna kill the chinise idiots

  • first off its jpanaese. also, see my comment to chiheuheulover2903...

  • hey, smart one. these are japanese people. not chinese.

  • wow your a fucking retard. You say you would like to kill People because they are killing an animal so if you take that one step further then you are saying that an animal life is more important than a human life. You fucking enviornmentalist scum bag. you aught to be ashamed of yourself for saying that.

  • @Falcon14785 u are 100% right man

i hate poachers love animals but some retards that think a dogs life is worth a humas life need lobotomy

  • ダイオウイカもエギ+同種で釣れるんだ。あはは。

  • Comment removed

  • @chihuahualover2903 Why? do you have any idea how many scientists, all over the world, have deliberately killed things in the persuit of scientific study? Its not just Japanese people. You cant blame them and them alone for it dying. If someone else found it in another country the same thing would have happened so it could be studied. Thats like blaming people from Kentucky for killing chicken because of KFC.... Dont be so thick headed next time you make a statement.

  • I know,i'm not blaming JUST the japanese,i'm blaming everyone who has tortured,killed,skinned alive,beaten,shot a living animal...okaayyy?

  • Is that why you removed your comment? You know...the one where you clearly said "I DONT CARE I AM BLAMING THE JAPANESE"

Nice cover buddy but other people can see that youve removed it.

  • Just because you are a bitch im going to go hunting. for anything.

  • The giant squid release amnomia to make themselves taste bad so its no point trying to eat it but scientific research

  • Did it HAVE to be killed??

What was wrong with letting it go? Ok sure no one had ever really seen a live one before but honestly!!!

No wonder so many of our land and ocean creatures are either endangered or extinct!!! Jeez... People!!!

  • Japanese just see this as a big chunk of sushi..

  • They see all fish as big chuncks of sushi!!!

  • My point exactly :P

  • @wolloolloo unfortunatly i dont suspect giant squid makes good sushi, people have tried cooking Giant Squid pieces in the past when one washed up on a beach nearly 100% Intact i forget where, the creatures lives in pressuring depths so great that their flesh is extremely tough, people tried washing off/cleaning and then cooking it and eating it they said it was like biting thru impenetrable rubber, even their teeth couldnt cut or damage it, so i doubt its a type of Sushi humans can handle

  • @wolloolloo the sickos that they are :(

  • @Kaijen1 So the Japanese are sickos for finding a squid as food..

Does that mean that you are a sicko for finding a cow as a burger patty? Exactly.

  • @Dragon22873 I just dont like what humans do to animals

  • @wolloolloo

    *sashimi.

  • I hope they killed it for scientific reasons !

  • nope they ate it.

  • Typical of asians. We got the first video of a live giant squid now lets kill it! =D ass holes

  • What did it taste like?

  • they didnt kill it jeez from the big change in water pressure it would have died anyway when it got to the top they couldhave taken it on the boat to give it a purpose like food or something or they could have thrown it back so it could die and just be a dead squid in the water.

  • but aren't squids used to pressure change?

  • It might have died from the change in pressure. They've tried to capture baby giant squid but they'd just die after they went in the containers. There was nothing they could do at the time to prevent it. If you people are interested in this you should check out the jellyfish that are taking over the seas

  • 1. As a licensed diver, FUCK JELLYFISH

    2. There was a followup from the guy who did the baby Giant squid documentary, he said that they didn't die because of pressure or natural causes, but rather the way they were handled. I believe he said that a huge factor in improving their likilyhood of surviving would have been using round containers as opposed to square tanks. There is a video on it somewhere on youtube.

  • pearl harbor was an unforgivable act of barbarism.

  • @surfacing3579 Good to know

  • @surfacing3579 And dropping bombs on Hiroshima and Nagisaki wasn't?

  • @thatsMrSmileytoyou Yes there was something they could have done: they shold have kept them in the cylindrical containers instead of the friggin square ones!

  • @thatsMrSmileytoyou Apparently that had something to do with the rectacular tanks? A documentary I saw said that when placed in a circular tank, the baby squid survive, as they naturally dwell on the surface

  • @thatsMrSmileytoyou a\h nice to know, thnx for the info :)

  • What kind of scientist is so desperate for footage, that he winds up killing the animal he is studying?

  • Do you really think he just killed it and then discarded it?

  • Tree hugging bitch.

  • ok i agree they shouldnt kill it but you cant blame all japanese people for it

  • imagine the size of the calamari rings you could get from that?

  • and of course the japanese retards have to kill the thing just like all the other sea life in the world

  • it looks more like a big humbolt squid, but if it WAS a giant squid, it would have been fairly young.

  • god damn why kill it its an endangered species. im not blaming all japanese people, but they didnt have to kill it. it was young, but it wont get to grow up because some guy wanted free publicity. before you say it was for science, thin of the fact that theres already tons of dead ones to study. why kill another?

  • Boo whoo?

  • The giant squid isn't endangered. Scientists can only guess their number. Richard Ellis thinks they are quite the opposite of endangered.

  • shut the fuck up are you saying your glad it fucking DIED?

  • @2weirdkidz im glad it died.

  • Almost every scientist in the world wish they could've done this. You seen it on TV , you know. He just got lucky.

The ocean is a huge place and there is a major possibility that there is a much bigger one out there. We just haven't found it!

  • haha maybe they can take their dna and make more ^^. nah j/k japs wouldnt do that shit. its just sushi. not a super rare animal. :)

  • make more i mean clone

  • A squid like that is very rare maybe they shouldve kept them! coz squid like that maybe once in a lifetime

  • really people, quit saying "fucking japs" it aint the fault of an entire people that things like this happen. never base judgement on a person's nationality.

And DAMN a giant squid =o

  • @atlasperros as a matter of fact we are not stupid! and to think i was going to move to Japan!

  • @Robots73 whoa, hold on there cowboy

    It's just an opinion

  • @atlasperros hey only some of us are stupid just the most of us are stubborn

  • @Jakekinfe1 wow one exclamation point in 1 sentence omg im SOOO stubborn...

  • @Robots73 i wasn't referring directly at you its just that a lot of the people i know are very stubborn

  • @Jakekinfe1 Well,I'm not one of them

  • Damn, that's a lotta sushi!

  • I'd say not; aparently giant squid tastes worse than floor cleaner.

  • shit im surprised that they were allowed to kill it they shouldnt have shame on them and also u have to let the line go pretty far down to get one of them those are kilometers under surface ps weepingson they wont be able to get you beacuse number one its way to shallow by beaches and number two they live soo deep down that the only time they have been seen so until now are washed up sick ones

  • Thats why im scared to swim in the ocean.

  • God stupid Japanese Killing whales and these!!!!!!

  • they should have just kept it alive damn bastards

  • betcha they're gonna eat it now too

  • they get bigger kimosabi!!

  • it has still not grown up

  • and it will never get to

  • i'm no expert, but shouldn't it be more ...giant?

  • This isn't a humbolt squid just VERY far off course? Doesn't look very gaint to me.

  • wht the hell?

    you stupid retard

  • that water is really blue

  • typical mankind finding a rare animal and killing it..

  • you mean typical japs , as in the other similar video "Prehistoric shark captured" -.-U

  • Every culture has killed a rare animal Just like americans nearly wiped out buffalo, and japanese nearly killing all the whales and selling its meat on the black market

  • if you spoke japanese, u would know that its not a giant squid

  • I don't speak Japanese, but that is definitely a giant squid. I've seen it all over the place in English media as well. If it isn't, pray tell what it actually is?

  • Bit behind times perhaps, but it's actually a colossal squid. Sounds the same but it's actually a different animal. The difference is that the main body is large and tentacles are shorter. Also, it lacks the specialized tentacle that most squid use to transfer sperm during mating.

And before you ask, no, we're not entirely certain how they reproduce.

  • Oh I`m so sorry about the comment below I was suppose to do audio preview but I pressed Post Comment I`m sorry.

  • ITS A FUCKING VIDEO OF A DUDE CATCHING A SQUID. YEP. THATS RIGHT A BIG SQUID. WHY HAS THIS BEEN A RACIAL ARGUEMENT FOR OVER A YEAR?! LISTEN TO YOURSELVES. YOURE ALL A BUNCH OF PATCHOULI SMELLING, TYE DYE WEARING, ASSHOLE HIPPI
