I sure wish more of my fellow Yanks knew about "The Skids".
Stuart Adamson was the whole reason I picked up a guitar and learned to play it - though, obviously, nowhere near as well as Stuart did.
I'm really amazed at the quality of the old live performances by The Skids. They were a pretty tight outfit - much better than many punk/post-punk bands of their era.
\First time I've seen this video and to be honest it sounds amazing, wish I had been there, Stuart is a big loss as far as music is concerned but I'd like to think he was about that night in spirit.
Hey I was there and they sounded fantastic. Joby aint lost it and we all had a top night they were first class!!! And still sounds good watching on youtube, sorry Stuart aint there but he was a legend in his own right rip....
You forget that Richard is 30 years older so his voice aint as good but the Skids were one of the defining sounds of a generation. Stuart Adamson [rip] had a guitar sound that inluenced many artists and later formed Big Country. Live the band was one of the best around. Check out early Skids stuff on youtube and see why.
why did he pause between saying a kid and a dead father. it just sounds like he was saying a kid and deadfather. instead of saying their his or hers or an identifyer for the dead father comment. that is all I did not quite understand.
Wow. Em sitting alone in a backpackers lounge, in the middle of the night, on the other side of the world, rocking out to these memories of my childhood. Awesome stuff. You lucky lucky bar stuards :) Rock on!!
No, it was Mike Baillie. Absolutely fantastic nite. I'd been waiting all my life for the oppurtunity to see the boys in action and they didn't disappoint. I can die happy now.
It was a great night but they were never as polished as that in the day. Watson & son were magicand if Stuart had been up on the stage with them you'd be hard pushed to find a better live line up anywhere.

Actually I thought his voice was great - I can't believe that 30 years later they still sound that good!

@centuryhousedw Richard's voice does seem to have held up well. He isn't quite as good at pulling off some of his old dance moves, though ;-)

Sorry about that, having some history we are all different in the U.K. and therefore have hugely different accents for such a wee Island.

Well since he's dead, having him in the band would be a bit difficult, wouldn't it?

I was there also and it was just pure magic.
Met them all after the gig and they were so down to earth. Long live the Skids.
