One of the reasons I fell in love with Funk...damn this was great music! You can't listen to this music and just sit down and not get up an boogie! Classic Band, classic sounds.
I saw them do this song on soul train yesterday and I was like " I kinda like that".....it sounds like they were listening to the barkays at that time.
@ROCKNROLLFAN you're right...however, it was the other way around, the Bar-Kays... or Borrow-Kays as we used to call them were infamous for ripping off other groups. lol!
@ffdee You aint lying.........I have ebonee webbs second lp "too hot to be cool" which some of the barkays keyboardist played on and they bite too much from Prince...half of the songs on it sound like either Head or Do me baby which was produced by allen jones.
@ROCKNROLLFAN LoL, that's fo trill! But you know what, them jokers wuz Fuuuuuuky!! Despite the running jokes, I was always anxious to see what they were gonna come out with next. Now on Ebonee Webb... man, you struck a chord there. I hadn't heard any of their stuff in a long time. I think I only had one Cassette of theirs and not sure if it was the 1st or 2nd, had 'Anybody Wanna Dance' on it, but I rember there was a Prince like sound. Just listened to that and I can hear Larry singing on dat..
I always piss my wife off when I imitate that part "I hear ............... of sweet funky muuuuuuuuuusic" and I get right up to her ear when I do it. I play this song only 2 or three times a year, because I loved it so much as a kid and overplayed it
Written by Lionel Richie, and, Ron LaPread, which proved that Lionel could be funky, when he wanted to be. The Commodores hit #39 in Billboard, 2-19-77. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!
