  • i know my cherokee ways

  • Peace brothers

  • fascinating! thank you for sharing.

i totally nerded out on this as a future anthropology student :D

  • my great grandmother married a cherokee man...im black..i didnt know they were THAT close to my blood

  • wow its crazy how native american history is hidden, now that I started a class in college about their history it made me realize how messed up the europeans were, and since i wasn't being taught about the natives, i didn't know they existed anymore, they're culture is beautiful

  • not all people's are bad just some that disrepect and have only greed in there hearts there is medcine ways to help them from this you just have to quit dreaming the hate

  • GOD bless u <3 always !!

  • Thank you for a beautiful journey through the Cherokee history and the way of life. I would have loved to have Cherokee blood in me but I am happy that my Great grandfather was Brule Souix and I have some of his blood in me.

  • I have not been to the reservation yet but would love to come. I have been told that I have Cherokee in my blood but I am not for sure. I would love to find out if I do or not. I would hate to think that my dad's family lied to me about that. I would love to come and talk to someone who could tell me if I am or not. I hope that I am for I love the Cherokee people. I have no information to give about my family history to be for sure. Thank you for showing your way of life to the nonCherkee people

  • @Mona6561 Go to a website called comanche lodge.com Type it in google. It will research your ancestors in any native american census. Also if you can go back far enough look on the 1835 census or the dawes rolls that were made years later that absorbed the 1835 rolls. There are many others. Google cherokee census rolls, then type in a name of your ancestor and search. This is how I confirmed my cherokee heritage. Contact me if you need help,

  • My family and I recently went to NC. And I didnt want to leave. I will never forget the power of pride Ive seen in the people and vow to always remember its culture..

  • we went there.

    very nice.

    very.

  • i am cherokee paint clan i know my ways

  • Thank you so very much for the work you put in this video. I have been to Cherokee a few times over the years. Over a decade has passed since I have been. I went to Cherokee on my Goldwing (motorcycle) about 3 weeks ago. It is really beautiful. I went to the museum and the Trail of Tears show and a few other places. Your video has some sites I didn’t see. I use to date a 1/2 Cherokee woman. They are beautiful and interesting people. Thanks again for the video. I will go back.

  • I've always wanted to see the grounds of my ancestors...

  • @psychoguy1017 you should go. You only live once and if it is in your blood you will feel a wonderful connection while you are there.

  • @psychoguy1017 I have been there many times and I always felt at peace - I am "part" Cherokee, but when there I get stares from the natives,(like they can recognize the Cherokee in me but wonder where I came from) I felt at home...

  • @psychoguy1017 if you want to see the grounds of your ancestors, just look to your feet.what you stand on belonged to them

  • @psychoguy1017 why were your ancestors not strong enough to fend off the white man? HAHAHA

  • @chestermolester33 being white, I must say, you're very very ignorant. You should learn some from the wise and intelligent cherokee people.

  • can anyone tell me the meaning of a word i believe it is a type of indian language not sure which we caught it on a tape recording its of a spirit he is saying something like (eye-ya ) not sure of spelling but it sounds like that if ya could leave me a message on my page or email me would be great

  • @patsy99p3 An ayah would have been a native maid or nursemaid in India. It is pronounced eye-ya.

  • great video!

  • I have been looking for that silent warrior song for a long time now. Thanks for the great music with the great history. I die a little everytime I ride by the Estatoe site in my town they flooded. I imagine though it's safer underwater.

  • what is a cherokee and what does there name mean

  • 11,000 B.C.--8,000B.C. Guess Noah's "world-wide flood" didn't reach our people. We don't need Noah's religion either. ... Osiyo! Mitakuye Oyasin!

  • i grew up on this land, from 3 years old on. i am honestly sad to see what has happened to the cherokee people...what others have done to them but most of all what they have done to themselves...

  • Silent warrior? this song is amazing. Im cherokee. i remember coming here as a child. I know I heard this song while I was there

  • Osiyo, I am Cherokee, Shawnee, Santee, Shoshone. I have six Indian Grandmothers, and I also have Irish Blood. I am happy to be here. I am grateful to ALL MY ANCESTOR RELATIONS, and I hope we can all live in PEACE TOGETHER. May the Creator bless each and every one of us, no matter who or what we are.

We need to learn to respect and honor all of our ancestors. Aho Clay

  • @ccmbike I think that is so interesting that you have a mixture of all various Native American tribes. You are so right about how we all need to respect and honor our ancestors. It really would be nice to live in peace together, but people have to change their way of thinking and behaviors, so that we can live in peace.

  • @ccmbike

That's quite a fascinating heritage you have there. :)

  • @ccmbike spoken well and true! salutations to you and all your ancesters! someday some how the wisdom of all the worlds tribes will unite to find an hounorable way forward and to spread the word of true justice and freedom! it will sound a lot like what you have said! respect and well wishes from Ireland!

  • @ccmbike Osiyo Josdadalv,Your correct... Just because your not a full blood I and others would welcome you with open arms ;)

  • @layhayla , i wish i was full-blooded cherokee; my great, great, great, great, grandfather was henry stringer.(possibly,60% chance, my 96 year old great grandma remembers him but i forget his name)

  • @ccmbike Okay, I know a little about genetics and human reproduction. Please explain how you have six grandmothers.

  • Dude why the hell do you even put theese comments up @supervirtuouswoman it's youtube not a debate

  • Why you people don't fight for what is yours? the blacks fight all the time, either they win or lose. The blacks don't sit on their ass and do nothing like you indians. We don't hear a peep out of you people. You need to KILL the white man because God is not helping you.

  • @supervirtuouswoman quite wining. We already gave you equal rights and yet you are still complaining, dang yall blacks are really ungrate-

ful. You already got equal rights and that's about how far it'll ever go.

  • @N00bcrunch3r Thats what you think you simple boy. Just a matter of time before this land is returned to the original owners.

  • It will be a matter of time before we ALL become the dirt of this earth. We do not own the land; it owns us.

  • @carsiotto you know , I also agree. There have been prophecies by many famous natives like sitting bull and crazy horse, etc. They said that at first our people would suffer but then one day we would all reappear on the earth at one time wit hour ancestors to reclaim our lands............THIS IS NATIVE PROPHECY. IN MY OPINION THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN SOMETIME AROUND 2012. THE MAYANS MARKED THE BEGINNING OF A NEW AGE, OURS!

  • no need to be disrespectful ...hate wastes energy ...non-natives have a hard time understanding basics...breathe 1st then think?

  • yuo dont think we fight super?? red people are not taken serious like blacks r.....no one cares when we are treated unfairly........only when blacks r.........

  • JSornon1, I have to disagree, black people are on the bottom of every race there is. Indians surely get more respect than us. No disrespect intended.

  • @nikkiemaymay

no black people are always pittied and put on a petestal. well guess what NOT EVERY BODY IS WILLING TO PITTY U!!

u r a person like the rest of us. no better or worse so quit try'n ta be.

  • @nikkiemaymay As a Black American myself, I must disagree. Yes, blacks were treated horribly, but the American Indians suffered much more, IMO. Native Americans are still suffering greatly today, but their problems are not publicized as many other peoples are, other people who really don't have a clue how good they have it.

  • @supervirtuouswoman

u needa learn ur history ur an idiot..get off ur ass n read a book....

  • The Natives don't sit on their butts. Many of them got their citizenship before the black man, most of them owned land before the black man. Well heck the Cherokee used to own the black man as slaves on plantations. Now go ahead and rally behind the whole kill whitey thing but just remember you child of Ham that God is always watching and when judgement comes I pray he brings the fires of heaven on you. Virtuous my foot your just a Hypocrit. NVWTOHIYADV

  • @godblesstherepublic there is no god, sorry to break it to you

  • @coolronification "godblesstherepublic" osdigolaginigesvna. lol

  • @supervirtuouswoman is ture , they are lazy bones, blacks even invent good music...

  • seven clans?

  • Siyo everyone!

  • way'da trail o beers and whiskey?

  • very informative I live in Western N.C. but not a cherokee although my family has lived here for many generations. Long live the Cherokee.

  • love going to the Cherokee Rez,proud to be part Cherokee and Blackfoot

  • I love going to the Cherokee reservation too,its beautiful over there, especially in Maggie Valley.

  • my great grandma is a full blood cherokee too...therbealicsa...my dad is some percent cherokee...you can diffenitly tell that from his skin....and i'm part cherokee....i wish i could go to NC and look around....but indians are interesting...and i'm proud to be part native american =)

  • I think I'll go there one day. My great grandmother is full blood cherokee

  • A beautiful and heartwarming video.....thanks for posting it!

  • A beautiful and heartwarming video...thanks for posting it!

  • My fathers family is cherokee and scottish. My moms side has more cherokee ancestors than my fathers and she is french and jewish too. I am a mut in the eyes of most I guess. American is surely a melting pot.

  • Not a mutt, truly a cultured person with all sorts of heritage and rich history!!! I'd love to chat with ya face to face if we were neighbors!

  • The song is cross of changes by Enigma

  • Beautiful video. Love the music.

Proud 1/2 Cherokee Native. I was born in Asheville, NC and have been to Cherokee. It's geourgous and I hope to return one day. I never felt so proud of my heritage in all my life. Loved every minute of it.

    Be proud native brothers/sisters. Wado.

  • they had to claim the white side of it back then..No choice really..My grandmother full blooded cherokee and my grandfather

is german,on my fathers side,my mothers side is some cherokee and Irish

  • i am cherokee indian from rome,georgia

  • What is this song?

  • thanks for sharing!

  • i'm begining to study my heritage can someone tell me what is a freedman?

  • Imfrommattapan,

A freedman is a descendant of the African slaves owned by the Cherokee Indians. Along with their Cherokee owners, their slaves were forcibly moved to Oklahoma. Controversy erupted when Chief Mankiller attempted to remove the freedmen from the Cherokee Nation rolls.

  • My greatgrandmother was full-blood Blackfoot Native. Her son, my grandfather, was half Blackfoot and half German...he claimed the white redneck side of course. :(

  • hey but u are not him and wat is within you is within u n NOBODY can take that away or tell u ur not indian..blood quantum is a stupid issue! Let the tribe decide. I'm cherokee, blackfoot and aztec, representin to the fullest!

  • i think i see crowman and robert in there somewhere...lol...cool

  • I CAME FROM CHEROKEE INDAINS! (:

  • I am proud of my Cherokee heritage but does it bother anyone else that so many of our native americans are so overweight? I know most of America is but we're supposed to know better than that. We need to stop eating the white man's poison! And yes I know for some like those on Pineridge and other reservations they are at the mercy of hand outs and don't have much of a choice. We need for them a choice!

  • beautiful beautiful video. makes me wanna go there and very proud of the cherokee within myself

  • thank you so much as an enrolled member it was great to show this to my girls so they could receive a better understanding of who they are! wado!

  • my family lost alot from hatred and discrimination...iam proud to b tsalagi...my grandfather, his mother, her mother, and his grandfather...and my grandmother...iam also a proud sioux...blaq, and anglo...but my heart goes with my native ppl. for wat i am is an indian so the white man say..and so shall i die one...=]

  • Wado for this great video :)

    Native Pride :D

  • My grandpa was able to claim land or how ever that goes but he chose not to although he was half. my great grandma she was cheeroke and past all knowledge to my aunt and then died . sad part is that later on my aunt is mental so all that knowledge is gone from my great grandmas point of view. . my blood pool is mixed in with black[african -american] ,cherokee , a mexican indian, mexican, >white, and something else but I forgot. so I can claim no race at all.

  • You can be full Native American in your heart! Be proud of that percentage that runs through your veins!

  • true that! I belong to the southern cherokee nation and we have ppl argue over blood quantum too much! there are plenty of full bloods who show now care for our heritage. blood alone isn't enough...we have to do our part to educate and to preserve our ways.

  • Amen

  • My great great grandfather was full blooded Cherokee, I am proud to have this as my heritage.

Peace be with all native american indians.

  • my great grand father was full blooded cherokee and im prode of it

  • My grandfather was too! Im proud of my indian heritage.

  • i'll forget what white man did to my ppl

  • Osiyo,

What I would not give to go back and live as my ancestors...

  • Yet they turn their back on their own people. So much love for a group who has betrayed and thrown out their own people. Anyone remember the Cherokee (black) freedmen? How about the Chickamauga? Some Cherokee try to stamp out all other Cherokee by force. It is a sad day to see them turn, yet again, on their own people.

  • howa...Own people? freedman r not native sorry to break your heart. Blk n Wht people shouldnt try and be and control things they are not. How does a nation survive for so long without using some force every now and then :). Touchy music in this video lol i almost cried thru the white owls eyes.

  • true that. i'm tired of hearing about the 'freedman' issue..they are not cherokee..n wat it boils down to is funds..the money is needed for true tribal members who are in real need...too many ppl draw checks when they could give it back to the tribe. I don't recieve one- i chose not to. My ppl need it more.

  • Thanks for making this!

  • i lived around asheville, nc for several years, yeah, so many places to go, in & around the mnts, i got laid off, & brought my young son back with me here so he could know his grandparents', there passed on now, & now i'm a young grandma to my cool grandson''PEACE

  • You write phonetic Tsalagi as well as any I have seen. It is good to see this. It would be great if we could use our font on forums like this. It is so easy to get rusty as it were when you are not exposed to the language, the written aspect, more so than speaking. Tohidu, Steni

  • Tohidu - "good peace", or "a perfect balance between mind, body and spirit."

    I like it.

  • Ahskiduh, "tohiduh" used to be an old way of saying "see you later" also, I am Crow but Ah jalagiski usdi howani!

  • I wish I could take credit but I did not write this. I found it while doing some research. The spirits lead me to it so I had to share it. I also found an audio.

    Wado, Stequina

  • English translation: Our Father heaven dweller. My Loving will be (to) Thy name. Your Lordship Let it make its appearance. Here upon earth let happen what you think. The same as in heaven is done. Daily our food give to us this day. Forgive us our debts, the same as we forgive our debtors And do not temptation being lead us into. Deliver us from evil existing For thine your Lordship is. And the power is. And the glory is forever. Amen
  • the lords prayer

  • Death to the white race once their gone we can live in peace and harmony

  • i agree death to the white man. so we can live peacefully again.

  • Such a silly statement, brother. What is done, is done. Forgive, that is the only way you will ever have peace. What once was, no longer is. You nurture the bitterness, it will only destroy you. It is nothing to do with "white men". It has to do with the avarice of humans. When any group is led by those with eyes of greed and have a technological advantage; they will do their worst. They always have before. You live in the greatest country on Earth and have a proud heritage. Forgive.

  • Agreed. Thank you Steni97 for posting your comment.

  • you Lakota, your language, your traditions and your religion survived, despite all the cruelties - and were shown to the world as an example for all of us! So your people went the right way, the peaceful way - Please, Let´s start over - all together, not one against the other, kola. I am white, I left Germany, went to Paraguay, live there happily with children of many races.I try to learn lakota! You can be so proud of your people - thats better than to start new wars, don´t you agree?

  • I'm part Native American and White, does that mean that me and people like me of multipule races should die? Why should any race die?

The only thing that needs to die is HATRED!

Once HATRED is dead, then we can all live in peace. Murder and Genocide can not help us reach peace, because that's was killed peace in the first place. You don't dump gas on a fire to put it out,you use water! Don't add to the fuel of hate, stomp it out!

  • I agree with you 100%

  • @jmikejapan WOW, Very strong about peace, I must agree .You sound like a very strong person. If we took an eye for an eye every one would be blind. No one would be able to see the beauty of nature.!!!!

  • @jmikejapan You can "kill" the fire by stomping on it

  • i love the video i love the enigma music, there are natives here in eastern ky east ky proud

  • The Aztlan and mecha groups are teaching that the Lakota are not really Lakota..instead are Aztecs and that the Lakota's lands belong to Mexico's citizens. Aztlan and Mecha support illegal immigrants coming onto native american reservations putting central and south america gangs all over the reservations..like sur 13, brown side locos, 18th street, etc. They support the illegal immigrants which bring the drugs onto the reservations. take a stand against them.

  • como se llama la cancion o el grupo

    gracias

  • I don't know who you are but you honor my ancestors in a great way in the creation of this video----wado

  • Thank you for the beautiful video, I'm Cherokee... Well half... and i enjoy seeing part of my culture its a very nice feeling thanks again!

  • You are welcome.

    Cherokee pride!

  • ha my ppl,to gether we can rise up go choekee

  • Well that sucks! Their people were genocided off.

  • It does suck! But now you know.

When you learn who really financed the Europeans getting here, under the guise of other nations and religions, and not respecting the owners of the land to purchase/trade it agreeably, you'll understand their M.O. against the Boer's in Africa, the South and Centurial Americans, the Germans in both WWI and WWII and finally the Palestinians.

Under the guise of America and its churcheanity, they're even doing the same to many other nations as the War of Terror.

  • Absolutely beautiful video. Thank you.

  • A great people who along with their cousins suffered at the hands of uncaring Whites 4000 dead, that doesn't count the Creeks, Choctaws, Seminoles, and the rest did Hitler study the American text on extermination and elimination, this video is well done Osceola,

  • A Native American boy was talking with his grandfather.

"What do you think about the world situation?" he asked.

The grandfather replied, "I feel like wolves are fighting in my heart.

One is full of anger and hatred; the other is full of love, forgiveness, and peace."

"Which one will win?" asked the boy.

To which the grandfather replied, "The one I feed."

    (Origin Unknown)

  • Great answer Osceola.

  • great video/slide

  • im glad to see people are more aware of the african-american native american connections because it is one of the most overlooked cultures in the country

  • Natives crossed the Bering Strait from Asia.

  • Actually Indians and espcially Cherokees owned slaves and not ALL white men had slaves there were even some white slaves!EVERY race and I mean EVERY race has been enslave/indentured servants even by their own race!

  • very true gpl992

  • good job, thanx 4 uploading :)

  • Absolutely beautiful video I am Cherokee from both sides and Seminole black I was raised with the Cherokee/Seminole values. I really apreciate the art please keep up the excellent work. I realize through out my life there will always be cruelty. The good will always rise. No matter if you are Native Indian, Afro American, or European if you teach love, spirituality, and self dignity you will strive for the goal. Love is the answer not hate.

  • I can not speak for the Cherokee Indians of Oklahoma. Humans can be racists by nature, no matter what their race, color or ethnicity.

I see no shame in a people that embraces their heritage and culture. It's our diversity that makes us a great nation.

It would be a wonderful world if humans would love one another without prejudice.

  • Cherokee Indians of Oklahoma are rascist against Black American Indians. Very tragic

The Cherokee people are not pure bred and should be ashamed as both Indians and blacks were both white mans slaves.

  • That's a very uneducated statement. Indians were the victims of genocide at the hands of the immigrants, not blacks. The Cherokee Indians of Oklahoma are not racist as a nation against blacks or whites. They are also the most inclusive Indian Nation in existence. The Navajo expect 1/4th Indian heritage to be included in their tribe, the Cherokees of Oklahoma expect at least one descendent from the Dawes rolls with no blood quantity minimum. The Freedmen have no Cherokee blood at all.
