  • <3333333 I'm going to play it on my guitar! Thank you :D

  • Good

  • This is nice and seems workable for me. How can i get/buy the tabs. ?

    Kind regards

    Thomas Sand

    Denmark

  • this is wonderful man. I am going to learn this piece thanks to you, forget about people who complaint, nothing better to do anyway. I am very glad I found this video. Thank you.

  • if you tune sixth string down to D and turn the sound down on the vid it works.

  • How do you play those chords on the cello?

  • I sang this Bach Piece no problem. Its on my channel.

  • What clef is this?

  • badsalad313,

Google for "michael hedges bach prelude sheet music", it's the first result.

    ;-)

  • @rojombre

It's not the first result anymore, or any result, I am afraid. I wouldn't mind paying for this sheet music but I can't find it. Anyone know a site that would provide the kind of transcription in this video, the score combined with guitar tabs for this Prelude? Thanks.

  • Where can one find a copy of this sheet music?

    Thanks! =]

  • Thanks :)

  • Well, all I can say is, wether this is right or wrong, I think it sounds beautiful anyway. Good job ^^

  • The instrument is called a harp guitar. You can see a picture of it on wikipedia.

The audio track in this video can be heard on the CD, "A Winter's Solstice, Vol. II."

  • buen tema colega...

  • está en clave de sol?? :S

  • genial!!!

  • Just get the tabs, listen to Li Jie, play and then, play read the sheets. This isn't helpful at all.

  • @SaiyanCHW ACTUALLY, you should just listen Segovia or John Williams play it because Li Jie plays the piece with little emotion which is typical....

  • I forgot Julian Bream as well. BIG oops there! Sorry Julian.

  • guitar is for amateurs when i comes to this song! way too easy on guitar...cello is alot harder!

  • i like it just because the music it's perfect and we could read in the paper. good work

  • is this someone playing it???

  • The suite is in G.

  • not quite sure the bottom half is in the right key. at least not for cello -_-

  • no its treble cleft. low C is not that many ledger lines below the G in bass cleft. unless its tuned differently

  • Thanks for this vid! This has been a great help...

  • Yep, this tab is in D Major but the recording going along with it is in G Major. That makes it really confusing dude...

  • yes~~~

the name of this piece is Prelude to Cello Suite #1 in G Major - Michael Hedges

  • @DropD1Tuning I'm not sure if this is hedges playing, but the piece is by bach man... I really hope you knew that and just worded your post weirdly.

  • Have you the sheet music of the video?

    Thanks!

PD: Please send me to my email.

  • Excelente!!!

  • Comment removed

  • guitar, but it is from cello

  • G MAJOR

  • What an asshole, go and fuck yourself!!

  • and these fingerings are for what instrument? cuz i am a cellist but my musics not marked and i could really use some help finding where i need to shift

  • @MegaFather123

It is really complicated to explain, you would just be best giving it to your tutor :D

I could work it out for me though :P

and these fingerings are for the guitar :P

  • What's a baritone guitar? is it tuned in 5ths?

  • not a baritone guitar . it's michael hedges' famous harp guitar~!!!

  • I thought I should point out that this performance is that of the late, great Michael Hedges.

  • your behind

  • Last up beat of the 4th measure should be a C# not a D.

  • The video seems a little behind..(sarcasm). But if it's in D major, why is there a C major key signature? I understand that the accidentals are put into the song, but still...

  • There is a C major key signature because; either the author forgot to write the sharps on the F and C on the key signature to indicate the key of D major or, the programme he used didn't allow for it. However the sharps are notated through-out the score

I'm guessing the instrument being played is a baritone guitar.

If you want to play this on a regular guitar you have to tune your bass E string down to a D and follow the tab or score.

  • The Arrangement being played is in G, while the Arrangement shown is in D, thank you for sharing though i've been looking for a good version to play on guitar, playing it through the notated version seems to be the one Sting uses when he plays with Alessandra Ferri

  • @xXConfuocoXx i got that it is played in g but what is the tuning they ara using?

  • the version in D is played in Drop D, the Version in G is played in C, G, D, A, E, G (i think, dont quote me on it though im not 100%)

  • @xXConfuocoXx

exactely the tab is related to the transcription in D major but the music is the version in G major played by michael Hedges

  • Comment removed

  • it's G Major but it was played well my favorite song i can play it on4 instruments violin viola cello and piano i like it on guitar i think im going to get a guitar it's best on a cello i think

  • Batterseapark or is it battermeprick?

You are such a knob jockey.

I never said the tab was wrong, if you ask your mommy to read the post for you I said the tab is in D Major and the guitar is playing it in G Major.

Shame, you really are one load your mommy should have swallowed.

  • can't read any note but I have two (2) ears...superb!

  • muchísimas gracias por colgar este cifrado, me gustaría saber si hay más obras similares.

  • OHHH, neverrmind, im stupid haha.

  • this is for the celloo????

  • yes... thats a cello

  • excelente!!!!!

  • The author of this video should be greatly commended for his work, Good job!

  • man, people are so full of shit, like kungfoolery here. if you play the tab it works.... full stop. thanks for the upload....kungfoolery is a pompous prick!!

  • Comment removed

  • I think this is using the Michael Hedges version (also on youtube) for the recording.

  • These are the 6 movements and original keys of the Cello suites.

Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007

Suite No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1008

Suite No. 3 in C major, BWV 1009

Suite No. 4 in E-flat major, BWV 1010

Suite No. 5 in C minor, BWV 1011

Suite No. 6 in D major, BWV 1012

  • legal ein cara....lindo, mui bueno

  • thanks man!

  • The way this musician is all over the place tempowise I suspect he warmed up with a bong.

  • lmao

  • You're fucking stupid. It's a free tempo to make it sound more fluid. I know you wouldn't know anything about that though...

  • he might be adding life to the music by implementing ritardando's...

  • ha ha I just found this in my music library and got a guitar for xmas.(and a 1st student already) The original is in G. I play it in C on a tuba to fit in all the notes. Never heard of it in D until this hour. This is musicly identical to the tab in my book.

I was just going to put it into a compositon program when I found this video. saved me some homework

  • The amount of BS comments about this tab is amazing. This tab is obviously correct, and the piece is not transposed and really is in Dm. Just look at the last chord (bar #42): the chord is (bottom to top): D A D D F# D. Now, look at the tab : the bass D is an open string, so the low string is tuned in D, the rest is normal tuning (DADGBE).

So, the tab is correct, the piece is actually in Dm (open another youtube cello video if not convinced), and musical education among YT viewer is sadly low.

  • get a guitar and play it with your tuner...the tab is in Dm but the guitarist where the audio track came from, is in the key of G...

  • Comment removed

  • nonous42:

This score is written in D Major (not minor) and the guitar's playing it in the original key of G Major. This piece is usually transposed from the original key of G major into D major for guitarists so that all the bass notes can be played. You really ought to raise your low level of musical education and ............................ don't forget to polish your recorder...

  • I don't think the audio is synced correctly

  • This is in the Key of G.

The original prelude is in Dm

  • The tab is right, but it's recorded on a baritone guitar. If you play through it with a standard open E tuned guitar, you'll get the same thing but about 1/2 octave higher

  • gah i wish i could learn this on flute but its not low enough maybe a higher octive but still the high part would be to high

    grrrrr

  • great video, been trying to learn this song, this helped so much! thanks for posting! :)

  • le son et l immage sont décalés, quite a faire quelquechose, autemps le faire correctement

  • tbh i think this video is really helpful and helped me out no end! not the same key being played? oh no!! who actually cares?? if you are a guitar player and a music lover you do not need the music to listen to the notes written are simply enough or vice versa! thanks for the video :)

  • If this video helps one guitar player improve it is worth posting , with mistakes or not , Thx for posting .

  • Please feel free to create one with all mistakes corrected. That would be most useful.

  • Look, I appreciate that you posted this video, but you've had over 2 years where people comment on the errors. Why haven't you fixed this? I've been jumping around looking for videos and versions to compare. The notation and TABS you have posted are simple and helpful, but what instrument are you playing? Is that a guitar or a cello? Why doesn't this instrument play the music that is posted? I think that's a fair criticism.

  • This was an experiment combining several software programs. Nowhere do I claim, or present it as an accurate presentation to be used as a tutorial and/or a study guide. It was time consuming to make, but worth the effort in what I learned about the software. I apologize for those people whom, like yourself, are not pleased or are frustrated with the content. I did the best I could do at the time and will not be making another one any time soon, or making corrections to this one.

  • I think its pretty cool myself! Can I ask what the software you used is?

  • @levisque67 Is the time tempo changing between the notes on certain parts? It sounds like its slowing down to me while the arrow moves at a steady pace.

  • @levisque67 you can't tell what instrument this is?? what the hell is wrong with you?

  • Comment removed

  • @levisque67 IT SAYS CELLO RIGHT THERE! God, if you don't like this video why don't you leave the creator alone and find a new one. You don't have to sit around and make them feel guilty. Thats just stupid. So how bout you a get a life and leave eveyone else alone for once. Cuz honestly if you had one you wouldnt be wasting your time on this stupid video anyway. So leave them alone and get on with it.

  • @levisque67 classtab.org/jsb1007p.txt

  • @levisque67 I found this very helpful. As far as I can tell, he original cello prelude is in G major, but it is transposed to D major for the guitar. The audio on here is in G major I guess, thats why its tripping up the younger dudes, but if you can read music then this is awesome. Thanks for posting this!

  • @levisque67 It probably because they can only play the guitar? o.O

  • Yeah, the music is off, but even worse, the guitar is not actually playing the same version of the Prelude! Makes this video kind of useless.

  • Two things (since I have the cello score): the piece is in G major (I know someone pointed out, but just to reiterate) and it is written in Bass Clef. The first note is the low G (open G string) - the highest note of the entire piece is middle G, so only three leger lines are needed.

  • ACTUALLY i have a classical guitar song in my book called "Prelude in D Major, from the Cello Suites, J.S. Bach" maybe that is what's being referred to? i know this is the G Major btw

  • um this is 4 guitar not cello

  • You can so tell!

  • its not in sync!!!

  • that song is way off from the little arrow that's moving on the bottom of the chords. this is why i'm having a hard time trying to learn the dang (i didn't say the other verison of that word) song

  • @rapsongs50 go on google and search cello sheet music prelude no. 1 bach and find something that you can print out legally :) thats what i did and now im really good on cello. i dont know if ur looking for guitar, but you can just substiture the word cello qwith guitar if thats what ur loking for. cuz this is GUITAR i hope you know that, rojombre. *glare* so dont put cello in the title

  • ma non c'è coerenza tra suono e scritto

  • How did you sync the music to the sheet music?

  • well done this is amazing its helped me out alot x cheers x

  • Comment removed

  • good, but the piece is being played in G, not in D as you say.

  • this is amazing. thank you so much for posting. i want to learn this so bad even though its probably impossible for me to. haha. we'll see :)

  • Is this for Cello? Because it has Treble Clef instead of Bass Clef..

  • yeah, some fella put it on guitar, it is origially written for cello of course.

  • does the background sounds like a cello to you? its designed for the guitar, and does the cello has 6 strings? well, you could try playing by ear though, thats what i always do. i play the violin and double bass, and it helps to play by ear, mainly because our strings instruments don't have frets of a guitar and we have to listen the pitch of our instrument to change fingerings accordingly.

  • when i say designed for the guitar,i mean this vid and the score in it,not the original Bach version.

  • Well No need for sarcasm. And I meant the bottom part.

  • arent you just the best player int he world?

  • The Cello version (original version) uses a Treble Clef because it is played in the high notes of the Cello.

anyways, if this video has a treble clef or not doesnt have any relation with the original Cello partitures because it is an adaptation to guitar.

I hope this answers your question =P

  • Ohh, I didn't notice the treble cleff in the beggining. Sorry :S

  • message me people not comment but message so ill respond

  • Note-Tone differences.

  • what is the link shermankim777

  • This is wrong

  • hey shermankim777, cud u please send me the link for the violin part. tanx

  • interesting, but one thing, the 1st suite is supposed to be in G-major

  • Send me the link so I can print it, Thanks! (Cello suite for guitar)

  • viola please

  • Who wants to know a website where you can print this song for free? They have it for:

Cello, Clarinet, Flute, Guitar, Oboe, and Violin.

  • i'd love to know the website please!!

  • i like it because of the echo

  • what did you use to capture the tab on video?

  • hey whats the tuning of the guitar?

  • Hey well, it is still an arrangement that someone nicely prepared for guitar tablature, and is 100% Free. Yeah its not in sync, who cares? the whole piece is nearly all straight 16th notes? wow, that's hard to follow... copy it down on paper and quit complaining, take it for what its worth.

  • its hard to follow. the arrow isn't in time.

and yes that is the normal speed.

i play it on bari sax.

  • Nice playing, but what is the hurry?

  • this is regular speed...

  • thanks for posting the tab. this song is beautiful; hope i can play it on guitar perfectly one day !!

  • you hear michael hedges, but he has a harp with 5 sub-bass strings. tabs you get from ultimate guitar...etc. : )

  • hedges's version

  • yes, what a god blessed player. so sad he's gone.

  • it is very easy to notice that the guy that maked the video doesn't know nothing about music, pentagrams and guitar chords

  • Cannot follow his unmotivated tempo changes.

  • It is posted as entertainment and illustration, not education.

  • I noticed that the first note is actually a G not a D. So the first eight notes should be G-D-B-A-B-A-B-A, not D-A-F#-E-F#-E-F#-E.

  • The original key is G. In the Guitar version the key is D, with drop D tuning. The first note is D in this version, not G.

  • Oh wait, I see what you mean. This is supposed to be in D, but the actual recording isnt pitched in D...my bad

  • WOLNIEJ.... przyjrzeć sięnie da rady.. ;)

  • Can someone translate this to English?

  • It means: SLOW DOWN.... there is no way we can see it... ;)

  • This is not a midi - this is the recording of the piece, in G, played on a harp guitar. Now no more arguing!

    Nic Ladds

  • audio and video are not square =/

  • Yes, that is true and I apologize for my having fumbled with synchronizing the music tempo to the video.

  • folks... THIS IS A MIDI not an actual guitarist second the music and tab are written in d but the MIDI is playing in G... with a dropped d note... so tune your guitar to drop D and capo on 5th fret to play with

  • You're correct about the key, as this has already been discussed. However, this is NOT a midi!

  • umm, ok, then who is playing it? second why isn't guitar pinging out from being tuned in drop GDGCFA... The notes played here are far to low to be played on a guitar... this is most definitely a midi... real guitar sounds played through a sequencer... looped and pitch bent... either that or somebody used a real bad software to change the orginal key and it just made it sound this bad.

  • If it pleases you to hear it as being a MIDI fine.

  • This is not a midi - this is the recording of the piece, in G, played on a harp guitar. Now no more arguing!

Nic Ladds (the guy actually playing it is on Youtube if you search HARP GUITAR - this exact recording.

  • que mamada esta mejor en partitura y

  • love your tone. what is your recording setup?

I question some of the tempo choices but overall very clean and listenable.

  • Dropped D, or use a seven-string with no.7 tuned to D.

  • Are you sure you're using a standard tuning with a dropped D?

The last chord in the sheet is a D, but you play a G :|

I think that in the original one the last chord is a G (since is a Prelude in G major), but Segovia's version ends with a D...

So you played it in G and put the score in D, right? (what a mess :D)

    Anyway, it's really good! :)

  • is this in standard tuning??? its sounds off

  • Grazie!

    Thank you!

  • I really like this piece but why is it named bach CELLO prelude? Other than that i really like it!

  • Cello Prelude because it was written for the Cello and is one of the Prelude to the first of six of the complete Bach Cello Suites. Andres Segovia can most certainly be credited with bringing Bach to the guitar in contemporary times.

  • oh thanks for the response!

  • AMAZING..i wish i had the strength to learn it..i think its very hard

  • I have been a combination of negligent and busy with so many other things. I apologize for commenters who have requested more of these. I just haven't had the time. I have more, I just need to find which hard drive I put them on!

  • Please!! I would love to have some more!! Thanks

  • Wow! This is just awesome! On behalf of the entire youtube comunity I would like to thank you for this wonderful vid! Now people can even learn music on youtube like that!

Please please please do post more songs like this if you have any! Bach rules!

  • Do you mean in Classical guitar?

  • Forgot to ask; which are the more popular songs? Horrible question I expect, the all time top 5?

  • Very cool. Need more of this for popular classical songs. Really enjoyed it. (Excuse my ignorance).
