  • Aires is pronounced (AY-RES, not EH-RES) that's really annoying lol

  • i think i've gotten flashed by her vajj 450 times

  • I <3 Chita!

  • And she was 52 here, bloody amazing.

  • it's great to hear an authentically latin singer's take on the song, no?

  • Too bad she mispronounces "Buenos Aires." It should be "Eye-res," but she says "Ey-res" like a gringa.

  • Thats the American pronounciation - She is correct.

  • But the name of the city is not English, it's Spanish, and the character Eva who sings the song in EVITA was from Argentina where they speak Spanish, and Chita as a Puerto Rican should know better. Therefore, ryanglitter is wrong in it being authentic. And you're wrong, too, it's not the correct pronunciation.

  • Even so, Evita is in English. It will be pronounced as in English. Take for example, Werther by Massenet. That opera is based on a German play, but the characters' names, place, and title itself are pronounced as in French. You can also use the opera "Carmen" as an example. The names and places are not pronounced as in Spanish, but in French. That is a common place occurance. Even in musicals (Les Miserables, for example).

  • Chita would have made a FANTASTIC Evita (not to take anything away from Patti LuPone)!!!! Is there anything Chita can't do???

  • no i don't think there is. haha.

  • retire... and i think we are all the better for it

  • Great Answer! :) i agree.

  • Does anyone know why she sang this song?

She certainly wasnt in the show! aha

  • Only one who i believe can really do justice to the song! What a true Gypsy she is! (:
