  • check out the 1951 version of He Bought my Soul at Calvary with James Blackwood. Both beautiful. You can see Father and Son singing in each version. Very nice and a favorite song of mine.

  • James, R.W. etc would be SO proud to see this music live on :)

  • Outstanding! Jimmy reminds me so much of his father, James Blackwood. His dad must be proud of him for carrying on the impeccable Blackwood Brothers singing tradition. This is TRUE Gospel Quartet singing: a piano, a piano player, and four men at the microphones. It doesn't get any better than that!!!

  • @arepadetrigo Jimmy also has the same sweet spirit that his father always had.

  • This was just great ....what a blessing..GLORY!!!!!!!

  • Now that is some singing

  • This is a rare thing anymore; gospel quartet music, sung unvarnished and unembellished, just voices and keyboard. Notice how well they blend - just two microphones, and they balance themselves perfectly. You just can't beat this at all. It takes real talent to make this kind of music sound great this way.

  • Man, that brings back memories to an old fellow. He looks and sings just like his father.......Jimmy, I am proud of you!!! You've come back around to your roots the long way, but you're back

  • What a Wonderfull Performance.

  • The bass singer is Randy Byrd, he is my friend's nephew.

  • I'll remember your friend in prayer. :)

  • Jimmy sounds more like James here than I've heard before.

  • I must agree. The resemblence is uncanny.

  • @fpoasec It runs in the family.

  • @fpoasec Looks just like him, too! I wasn't surprised at all when I found out that he is his son.

  • These guys sound great!!!!!

  • It's quite a show at Pigeon Forge. They are excellent.

  • I TRUST THAT ALL WILL COME TO CHRIST

  • I want to know the names of the guys singing, other than James...Who's the tenor?? Anybody know him or how to get in touch with him?

  • His name is Wayne Little. He is from Elizabethton Tn and formerly sang with the Brohterhood Quartet ( I believe) and recently with other Brohterhood members, started the group The Crystal River Boys before joining Jimmy Blackwood and the Blackwood Brothers .

You could probably find him listed in the Elizabethton Tn telephone book.

He is a GREAT singer and we are proud he is one of ours!

  • BEAUTIFUL! I think James would be very proud! Thanks for posting this great Blackwood Brothers CLASSIC! MoJoPiano

  • This is the kind of inspirational music that I sang and grew up with. I listened to them on the radio , Sunday mornings before church in Cairo Illinois, mid 1950's.

  • I think the words should be changed to "Each drop of blood bought me Eternal Years" Plus the piano on this recording appears to dominate at times. Apart from these comments I found this performance excellent.

  • Awesome, nothing like Southern Gospel, plan to see these guys next week in Pigeon Forge

  • You won't see these guys in Pigeon Forge--that's the Blackwood Quartet and Blackwood Singers (they are cousins of Jimmy Blackwood).

  • I realize it is different people, should have made myself a little plainer, at any rate they too are good and chips off the block

  • Beautiful.

  • My kind of music. Thanks brother...
