@chemille1 Quite fin, considering I found an old issue of Spin magazine from 1985 when this record was first released, stating that "Support this band and you'll have no one but yourself to blame."
This is one of my favourite songs, It brings back memoroies of the eighties and listening to this song on my tape recorder late at night !!! Seize the day !!!!!
mi manca la musica anni 80, mi mancano i miei amici degli anni 80, mi mancano i 18 anni che avevo negli anni 80... i miss 80's music, i miss my 80's friends, i miss my 18 years i had in 80's..
Bellissima..
I love it...big hair, no real plot and the lead singer wears Ray Bans that make him look like Tom Cruise in "Risky Business." You HAVE to love the '80s!
Aaah...I can't believe I'm just finding this now!! I remember seein' this on MTV amazingly enough as a kid back in the day...really good times. thanks so much for the post. A band that didnt' make it big here in the states but is one of my alltime favorites.
Un cordiale ringraziamento Camallo per questo memorabile pezzetto che non l'ho sentito da piu di 20nt'anni..Grazie ancora per il upload!!Excellent choice!!
they did make it big...in Europe, They're succes in the US is, thankfully limited. Thats why when I pump it out of the speakers in my Impala, people say :great song". Cool!
After 20 something years of waiting, I now have my hands on the cd of Theodore & Friends! How happy am I? My beloved vinyl copy can now retire after many years of faithful service. I cannot for the life of me understand why they never made it big. Couldn't figure it in the middle of the 80s, and still can't.
OMG I am so jealous where the heck did you get hold of one of those? Easier to find teeth on a bird! I had one back in the 80s but he got stolen with the rest of my collection in the early 90s :(
this is a very very beautiful song and the video is also nice. every time i watch this video i have this feeling that i can't explain. CAMALLO70 many thanks for uploading this!
Thanks so much for posting this! They were my favourite band back in the 80s and I'm still in shock that they weren't huge. And why hasn't their first album been released on cd yet? I have my prized copy of Theodore & Friends on vinyl from 85 and it's a great album. A friend put it on cd for me a while ago but 3million plays of the original as a teenager on a dodgy record player has affected the clarity! Oh the cruelty of life.
Double Shot New Wave by K-Tel (yes, that K-Tel) still floats around on Amazon, etc. It's the only source I've found that has this version (the one off the US vinyl release) on a CD. Too cool for like 5 bucks. Easily worth 500 times that much.
is it possible to down load or copy to cd or mp3 ? i've got the singles, 12 inch singles and album but no way of playing them in the car, van etc. thanx. brings back memories of some great gigs!
they supported tears for fears back in the eighties me and my mate had tickets for both nites @the bham odeon the second nite we only went back to se the adventures again they were awsome live
Nah it was just a pub team called he Bricklayers Arms. The pub was/is in Tottenham High Road not far from the Spurs ground (Tottenham Hotspurs FC).
All the boys were midfielders although Spud also put some time in the defence with me. Terry was "seeing" Sarah Dallin from Bananarama at the time and it caused uproar whe she turned up one Sunday morning!!!!!
Those looking for the full lp, just google 80zforever torrents! this and some other ultra rare 80s obscure bands are posted there! God bless the internet!
la prima volta che la sentii (ospiti a Superflash, da Mike Bongiorno!!!!) avevo 12 anni...indimenticabile la canzone e i ricordi, soprattutto con il successivo LP che conteneva "Broken Land" e "Drowning in the sea of love"
wow! many people defines the 80's as silly superficial years dominated by image and plastic music....but these kinds of songs destroy those stupid ideas with a melody that melts your heart and leaves you in love with the world hahaha GREAT ADVENTURES COME BACK!!!!
tks God i lived my best teenage years in '80's, such joyful songs, sometime stupid, but joyful so MUCH!they left me some kind of peter pan syndrome!i don't want to grow old ...and i could never forget them!
Well, 38 and a couple of months still cuts it, no!? But you are right, it's one of the eighties songs that stuck most in my mind - and there were a LOT of good ones.... :D
In the original video, his acting teacher is frustrated with his poor reading of his lines for the play "Shadow of a gunman" (you see him in this video). The lines are about a guy whose girlfriend has left him for another man. He recites them with no feeling, no emotion. At the end of the video, after got the "Dear John" letter, he reads those lines again: this time with a lot of feeling and emotion because he has just been dumped, and he is hurting. His teacher is very pleased now.

Previous comments said it all: Awesome song, thanks for bringing it back, missed it since it was deleted, it takes me back, and this song will always sound great. I'll never understand, either, why a great song like this didn't go anywhere. If you saw the original video, you hear his acting teacher voice his frustration with his poor reading of his lines for the play: he shows no feeling, no emotion. Once he gets the "Dear John" letter, he sure reads his lines with passion and emotion.
