After they released their first cd, they signed with Atlantic Records and Fred saw that as a stab in the back. There's actually a voicemail recording that was pretty public of Fred Durst just bashing Steven Richards calling him a sellout and what not.

How is Scar Symmetry metalcore?!? There are no breakdowns or emo sounding cleans, they have a very progressive sound, and actually have real talent. You haven't got a clue about metal subgenres, because you're stuck in a dead genre (numetal). SS sounds nothing like Killswitch, Shadows Fall, Unearth, God Forbid, As I Lay Dying etc. Yes they don't sound like Old In Flames or Dark Tranquility or At the Gates. You can describe it more as heavy alternative with hip-hop influences, but i just can't hear the metal in it. Slipknot is the only band that was lumped into the numetal category that I actually consider metal.
