Backup singer Arnold McCuller (big black dude) has been with JT forever. He's got one of the best voices I've ever heard. He's just released a CD called When I Get Paid, which is outstanding. Check out his website for more info (just google his name).
@robincovert, the (black back-up) singer's name is Arnold McCuller. He Skyped last night with the Dallas Songwriters Assoc. What a nice man. What a voice!
Saw last night in in Little Rock. Truly an outstanding concert. If he comes near and you have the opportunity, get tickets. One of the greatest concerts of my life.
The choir is practicing this song at school. They have amazing voices and I hear them everyday as I eat my lunch. It reaches inside my heart and I have a hunger to help my disabled children around the world through my new mission.
i luv this video and song i sung dis for an award cermony for elementary awww i luv this song it opend my eyes in so may ways nd im in 10 grade now i sung it when i was in 4th grade awwww!!!!
@MrsVil Sorry, I know that, having seen him quite a few times. I was referring to the other comments, the ones that apparently had nothing to do with JT and his b/u singers.
I've seen JT countless times over the years and each time he's amazing! From a whole band to just a guitar and stool on stage. Fantastic each time! Going to see him and Carol King in June for the Troubadour reunion and I can't wait!!! Rock on Sweet Baby James!
NEVER get tired of this - saw him perform it in Miami in 1991 when the album was just out, and to this day, it DOES steal the show every time (and what a FAMILY this IS! ♥)
Saw him perform this song at the Birmingham NIA this year. I wasn't familiar with the song then- being only a recent convert- but i feel it stole the show!
Oh. Lord this is good!!!! The harmonies!!! J. Taylor and J. Johnson from Flim and the BB's. And Bob Mintzer from the Yellowjackets! etc..etc..Ahhhh the cream of the crop. Nice job and thanks!
I remember singing this song in public grad school with all the children holding hands in a circle. It was the first time I believe I felt the power of worshiping the Lord! Such peaceful words and music.
THANK YOU for posting this! I saw them perform this in Miami (1991) on the "New Moonshine" tour - don't know why it wasn't THE centerpiece @ the inauguration.. but I'll settle for anything they do! - for sheer delight, watch this TIGHT band rehearsing this (& "Sun On the Moon"!) on the DVD "Squibnocket" in a barn on Martha's Vineyard - a rare glimpse into complexity made to look EASY! - and Arnold! -- U da MAN! ♥
man i love this song. it makes me cry by how true it is! and he actually sang this song in concert! love you, james! you rock! and so does martin luther king!
hey "cow lover" - read it again mate. i was saying that it doesn't matter what he's wearing because he's amazing. he could come on in a bin bag and i wouldnt care. check ur facts i was being sarcastic to a different post that WAS criticisng his appearance even to the point saying i can understand the hair loss as if he had a choice about it...idiot
They really are like a big happy family. God, what a life, what a job to have. I wish they would adopt me-ha! I would love to sing with them, just once...
i mean come on he cant be a good singer or musician...look at what hes wearing!....for fucks sake mirandazar if you want to look at something pretty buy a magazine u imaged obbessed prick...james taylor is awesome
Well, I guess he just wants to be comfortable on stage. Who can blaim him? I've never heard anyone complain about that. I for one always want to wear casual and light clothing when I'm on stage, playing for hours under those sizzling hot spotlights. I 'd like to think that people come see me for the music and not for the way I dress. James probably feels the same way.
@muller1007 mmm...maybe he's just earned the right.. kind of like Eric Clapton with Santana on his Jingo video. Maybe it's called, "easing into retirement," I don't know. .... JT... he gets to the heart and he stays there.. timeless JT.
This song is perfect for today, Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Let us turn our thoughts today to Martin Luther King...
And recognize that there are ties between us, all men and women, living on the Earth...
Ties of hope and love of sister and brotherhood.
That we are bound together, in our desire to see the world become a place in which our children can grow free and strong.
We are bound together by the task that stands before us, and the road that lies ahead.
We are bound and we are bound...
