Sorry for all the post but this is just to important. I don't want to cancel my account as I have been a loyal YT fan. Yet if things continue to degrade then it won't be worth staying anymore. Hey I understand ads are important & is how YT has stayed largely free all these years. Yet give users more control & more creative tools to make it an even bigger community which both content creators & users alike can coexist. YT has a bright future but only if it works with YT community to make it so.

Don't get me wrong as I understand what you are trying to do here. It is a lofty goal & one which may or many not succeed. Yet there are reasons Google TV didn't pan out. Turning YouTube into some TV advertising content like network isn't going to work. You might believe it will encourage people to create more content but not all of us are content creators. I have thought about it myself but I likely would get better results just creating my own webpage. Keep YT growing in a positive direction.

The more attractive your page is, more likely people are going to want to link to you. Thus making it more attractive to ads & the like. Don't shackle us to this. Give us more tools to make it even better. Like having the ability to add animated icons or flash. That would really add some flare. Give us more reasons to even bother with this. How am I expected to get new subscribers when I can't even tell them apart? Even the highest ranking sights on YT are boring & Institutionalized. Why bother?

Dear YouTube if you care so much about that. Then why are you limiting us with this stupid new layout scheme? I have talked to many advertisers which don't like it either. It turns everyone's web page basically into a stale, flat boxed in system which allows little if any custombility. While I understand you wanting a more clean look. It doesn't have to be at the expense of our ability to create & innovate. Making everyone site basically a clone will not have the effect you were hoping for.

The New YouTube design really sucks ...Plain and Basic .I guess the CIA is trying to make YouTube easier for... In Q Tel... to read the bio metrics of YouTube .Why fix something that's not broke. I hope they let us keep the old layout!

@trudbol That's a good answer however people that use smart phones for YT usually only access music.Why anyone would want to watch a documentary on a 3in screen is beyond me .The Ipad i can see the use but by 2013 they will have faster processor speeds hence being almost as good as a standard PC.So I still see no need to change the current layout.I pride my channel on HD for big screen use not 3in screens.Smart phones are for Facebook and texting not for YT.

The bottom line is that more and more people will be using smartphones & iPad-like devices, whether it be for music or documentaries, so your content will more often be displayed by small screens than PCs. Yes, resolution & CPU power will go up, but it doesn't change the fact these devices will have small screens and there's only so much you can fit onscreen at once. I'm bummed too by this because smartphone speakers suck and I make music. :/

@jeffnicoledj Try changing the country of your channel. In smaller countries, your chances of becoming a partner are better. You'll need to understand the language a little (emails and stuff to read) but you can manage with Google Translate.
