@jpowers55 dude this isn't the vid to make that comment on say that on a highlight reel or something but this isn't just about baseball it's deeper than that
this is just amazing. i love Jason Heyward. ive been a Braves fan since i was 6 and i watched this game on ESPN. i was so happy. but for some reason while i watched this video, i got the chills. big time. J Hey is just, so caring and a good guy. Hes awesome. and its amazing that he did it again THIS Opening Day. I hope he stays with Atlanta forever.
I had the great opportunity of meeting Jason and his dad. His dad is a very intelligent man and knows alot about baseball. Both are extremely humble and both know the true meaning of hard work! Great family!
J. Heyward ever since I first noticed him when he made it to the Braves has caught my eye like both Jones back in the day... You can tell Heyward is deff a Legend in the making. This man is going to go far and proud to see he on the team I've been for since the first day I became a fan of Baseball many years ago Atlanta Braves, Mr. Whyte.
Jason is the next chipper carry on the great tradition Chipper Atlanta Braves 1993-End of his career... Brian McCann 2005-End of his career...... Jason Heyward 2010- End of his career
@EeVvAaNn3 Yea he had a great season, but he was a sucker for that breaking ball in the dirt. He struggled pretty hard in the Giants series too. I think that thumb was bothering him a lot mid season. Either way, he met or even exceeded our expectations. Hopefully Freeman can have a really good full season.
My favorite part is when Chipper is waiting for Heyward with open arms.....its like a legend was passing the torch to the next generation of superstars. Mcann, Heyward, Hanson and hopefully Freeman will be the next young stars to carry the Braves into another decade of good Braves baseball.
@thehavok2 Nice! I am a Braves fan living in San Jose, so I been to a bunch of Braves vs. Giants games at AT&T, and I HATE Giants fans...well some of them. But I must say Buster Posey should probably win the rookie of the year because he plays catcher(did a great job calling games) and his numbers are right up their with Heywards with less games(I know Heyward was nagged by the thumb injury) Either way.....we will be back next year. Go Braves!
What a great story, I used to live in McDonough and knew Jason before he was drafted by the Braves through my good family friend Chad Walker who played baseball growing up with Jason and was on the same team. Both Chad and Jason have influenced me through baseball and life.
as a braves fan obviously i was psyched when heyward came up, but its rare to find a great person in addition to player...its almost too perfect to believe. i guess i got a new favorite player on the team when and if chipper hangs em up
i just watcxhed this for the first time and j hey is an amazing athlete its amazing how much that homerun must have ment.....future of the braves.....great person....hope the legend of the j -hey kid lives!!!
This kid is sickkkk! He's the future of the Braves and with a mentor like Chipper Jones and Brian McCann, J-Hey kid with turn out to be possibly one of the greatest players of all time. No lie!
Such an amazing story and an amazing kid. As a Braves fan I am so happy we are able to watch him on a daily basis in our living room. God Bless this Jason and the family of his friend that he lost.
I can honestly say Im not one to cry but watching this story and being a Big Braves fan and just a fan of players that play the game the right way I teared up.. Heyward is such and outstand young man and I pray that he stays healthy and on the right track because my 2 young sons love him and look up to him and always ask when can we go back to Turner Field to see Jason play.
Does Heyward remind anyone else of a young Ken Griffey Jr.? He has such a pure swing, he can hit for average and power and has speed running the bases or chasing down fly balls. He's going to run away with Rookie of the Year, and if he stays healthy is going to have one hell of a career.
@TomP930 Not going to lie I'm a life long mariner fan. I also threw a tear and it really touched me. He so far mirrors and could surpass Ken Griffey Jr. I wish him nothing but the best. Rare to see such character in a young man.
Awesome, inspiring story and player in the wasteland that is professional athletics. As he progresses on his MLB career, let's hope that he continues to conduct himself with integrity and character, as unfortunately many professional athletes do not. Professional sports needs more players like Heyward to be worthy of the adoration and riches they garner.
This is why my family loves baseball so much. It's where dreams can come true, and bonds between the players who play the game are stronger than in any other sport. ... Click on my screen name to find a video of our major-league hopeful, Adrian Bundy, playing at age 6.
@IAmUnique678 My mind just felt that chilling (humbling) sense through my mind. This guy made Roy Halladay's perfecto look like garbage. Anyone can pitch a perfect game but a young African American boy at the age of 20 faces what used to be an ace pitcher (Carlos Zambrano) take him deep with a 3-run homer. In that ball park that Jason grew up watching games and thinking 'it's my time to shine.'
amazing story and a great player but this guy is to tall to be leaning back when he bats...
