  • I was limited in how much praise I could give this knife. It isn't the full size bowie I would carry if I were able to but I carry it as my "Oh crap" blade. Not sure about your audience nutnfancy, but I have been attacked on the job twice aready this year. Haven't pulled it to save my ass but I know she is there

  • Great blade. I have used it to cut seat belts, clear brushy grass from a rollover scene and to cut away bunched up clothes and leather jackets from a PT. Great knife. I have sharpened it once.

  • Why don't they update the Endura to have that finger choil?

  • i have that byrd cara cara with plastic handle. and it is corroding, so quality is not that word which i should use.

  • veri is nutn coming out with a cara cara 2 video if he dosnt know about it i think hell love it but some how i think he has a review comeing out of it preatty soon cause for 18 dollers its awsome

  • @MrImSOwinning Nutn said to tell you: "Totally. Maybe this week". -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy great news thanks

  • i have a feeling thers gonna be a byrd cara cara 2 review is coming very soon

  • And the Meadowlark 2 FRN :D

    2.5 oz

    Excellent Delica alternative.

I just bought one even when I already have a Delica 4 Wooo! ^o^

  • I like the Cara Cara because of the wing-shaped hole. I just thought it was nice.

  • REVIEW THE G-10 CARA CARA 2

  • Hey nutn, when are you gonna review the Cara Cara 2? It's FFG!!

  • i like how he uses a knife to point at the other knives

  • hey nutn', big fan. i've seen all of your vids. :)

a TINY problem in your knife reviews: when you use your light in viewing the milled-out liners, it kinda' makes it harder to see them because of the light reflecting off the handle. I don't think you need the light when showing it to the cam, IMO. My opinion, that's all it is.

Hope it helps TNP become awesomER. :)

    -Ted

  • dude I like your stuff but sometimes your just plain windy. You can say more without saying anything than anyone I know.

  • To tell the truth I told my self i'd never sub to nutnfancy cuz i truly thought he was what everyone said he was like without ever watching but maybe two or three videos but well I just clicked the button lets see where it takes me cuz in my opinion there wrong so far in the reviews ive watched within the last hour or so

  • the one i saw on ebay dont have holes on the hadle like yours

you think it's a real one?

  • @TheMahagoni should be cara cara 2, remember this review is years ago.

  • @jankrix thanks

  • @jankrix thanks

  • @jankrix thanks

  • Hey nutn, I know as always that you have WAY to much on your plate but if you can get around to it I would love to see a review of the Cara Cara 2.

  • My New Cara Cara just arrives from amazon. This knife is amazing. I cant wait to get to work. I had a amazon gift card from Christmas. I paid a less then $27 with free shipping. I absolutely love this knife FFG, nicely textured G10. Thanks Nutn for the awesome suggestion. Everything I buy that you recomend is spot on. I am thinking about ordering the Byrd Raven for myself and gifts for Xmas. My next purchase will probably be some LBE gear, (Condor, 5.11, others?) Thanks for all the great work.

  • Love the Cara Cara, what an amazing value. Mine came well adjusted, no play whatsoever, razor sharp. Agree, area under clip needs filling or grinding to be perfect, it will rip up pants. Why destroy a $40-80 knife when you could wear out 2 of these and still be ahead of the game.

  • Thanks for another great review. I just ordered my first Byrd.

  • I was just wondering, what was the size of the torx screw you used to tighten the pivot screw? Thanks a lot.

  • its 16 on amazon.com

  • Any upcoming reviews for the Byrd 2 FFG ?

  • Do you prefer liner lock knives or ones with a lockback??

  • Take a look at the soon to be released byrd cara cara 2 in FRN. The already out g10 version has gotten great reviews, Especially for its 4.2 oz weight. Im sure the cara cara 2 in frn will be even lighter.

  • hi did you see the new cara cara 2 wit the full ground blade it look good verry good

  • I from poland and give 50 dolars -.-

  • I just got the centofante III in mail after watching your video dude and I'm glad I did. The cara cara looks way too similar to the centofante III but I have a feeling I'll have it in my pocket by the end of the week. I dig your reviews. Honestly they tend to be a bit long sometimes but you do a great job describing the blades.

  • i just ordered a comboedge cara cara but only got a plain edge, do they even make a comboedge cara cara?

  • hey nutn' i have just got my cara cara and i asked for a combo edge but i only got a plain edge. do they even make a combo edge cara cara??

  • Dude! just got my cara cara in the mail, I ordered it after seeing your review, at first I was disappointed, but after a few days playing with it, I change my mind pretty nice blade for the price and dam sharp cut my finger not looking what I was doing messing around; I wish it was a bit wider and I don't care for the thin feel also has chisel grind edge :(

  • Dude! I just ordered my Cara Cara FRN after seeing your review, however it seems the blade finish looks better on your video then the picture on eBay did they change the texture whatzz up with that?

  • is the caracara a ruberized knife i fell that its mor firm in the hand with rubber and does ithave really great jimping im really strict about how well it fits in my hand and how well it stays oh and also wat kinda siz hand would it fit 4 im kinda young and new to knives

  • Hi nuthnfancy, what would you prefer: plain or combo edge version of this knife?

  • HEY NUTN A FULL FLAT GOUND CARA CARA IS COMING OUT BY BYRD!!

  • The Phillips on the pocket clip are so soft. I just took the clip off to spray paint it black and the pocket clip screws are now stripped. Anyone know what size they are and where I can get replacement screws? Thanks.

  • would spray painting the pocket clip be a good idea??

  • byrd cara cara or the spyderco tenascious ?

  • i like it but the looks of the blade shape and all the things byrd did to it to make the Cara Cara resemble an actual bird just look goofy, like the feather texture on the handle , the holes on the handle, and the eye-shaped deployment hole

  • where did you manage to get it for 16 dollars? on the sites that i know of with positive reputation it sells at 20 dollars for the FRN combo (serrated) or plain mdels

  • @xxkid123 This video was made in 2008..price has probably gone up. :( - Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • oh, lol thanks

  • @xxkid123 try knifecenter i think thats the cheapest place you will get it...

  • @xxkid123 He got it at yourcornerstore and he got the FRN handle, its 16 dollars :D i might get one too :D

  • @iPodOperator byrd cara cara 2 is also out from 19-22 dollars. probably worth a look

  • @xxkid123 if you hurry to knifecenter you can get a combo cara cara for 13.00

  • @xxkid123 amazon has it for 18 if u still want

  • I got the FRN handle, plain edge. It is an unbelievable knife. I'm fricken thrilled that I got this for $17. The handle is great, as good as G10 and I don't regret going Spyderco FRN one bit! Opens even faster than my other sweet Spyderco blade. What a great company!

  • Is the point on the Cara Cara more pointier than on the Endura 4?

  • g-10 or light weight? g-10 23 bucks lightweight 17 what do u think?

  • @christian571 Go with the G-10. You can see that FRN handle in the vid makes it look cheap and the texturing on it isn't fine enough, G-10 will give a much better grip. The weight and $6 ain't that big a deal in the long run.

  • I dont know what that was at the end but besides that great review i really want this knife now and its price makes me want to get it more!

  • yea befor i started watching nutn i bought the stainless steal handle one and it is heavy i dont carry it because of it but the lightweight one would be awesome because besides the weight i love the knife

  • you can buy a light weight kit for it with the nylon handles i believe.

  • were u using a victorinox money clip knife as a pointer

  • I got tired of waiting and waiting to find the plain edge light weight and ordered the stainless last night, along with a SOG Fusion fixation. Can't wait.

  • Comment removed

  • I have owned the lightweight for about a year now and love it. Its great to thrash on. I decided to replace it with the G10 model to see if i would like it. Ordered from YCS and when i opened it there was NO blade retention and had to force it open the last inch. It was awful and decided to take it apart. The first thing i found was the locking mechanism bar was installed BACKWARDS! I fixed it and put it back together, but it had been permanently bent. It now works but is very sloppy. hitormiss.

  • Im ordering this knife from Yourcorner store, very afordable as you say, but i am going to get both the SS version and the G10 version...

I like my knives heavy, for the reason of being able to use them both as an impact weapon as well as a blade. so thats my only reason lol.

But thanks nutn great review and helped me make a choice.

  • lol bird snout :P

  • is byrd=spyderco? does spyderco make them?

  • I think Byrd works for Spyderco

  • byrd is the spyderco's chinese devision

  • Byrd is Spyderco's budget brand of Chinese-made knives.

  • Purchased a black SS Cara Cara largely based on your review. Weight is less of a concern for me, and I prefer the feel of a steel handle over FRN. Thanks!

  • I have the Black SS and the FRN models..both great, the FRN lighter of course, but the black model looks awesome :) and opens very smooth and quick once broken in..with rock solid lock-up.. the black electroplate finish is prone to chipping though i noticed.

  • zytel is in fact a type of fiberglas reinforced plastic. coldsteel uses it in their voyager and gunsite line ups. their delta dart is also made purely of zytel.

  • Thanks to this review I got my Cara Cara Lightweight today.

Execellent knife, I'm heavily impressed what a good knife You get for such a low price.

  • Did you say the blade length of the Cara Cara shown?

  • Not sure if he said, but YCS has it listed as 3.88 inches.

  • Guess I need one of these too! I'm going crazy for Spyderco products!

  • ANYONE::

witch is better, a cara-cara or tenacious?

  • HCDDWarhero,

Depends what you want it for ..the Tenacious would be a great all around easy carry, multitask edc.

The Cara (like the endura) tends to lean more towards the tactical side ..for me at least

..or you could carry both and have all bases covered.

I carry a smaller edc with mine ..I leave the Cara razor sharp for emergencies (ie: seatbelts, baddies etc.. ;)

  • I love my Cara Cara! I cant believe how solid it locks up. I mean, you can crank loosen the pivot screw almost until it falls out and the blade still locks up with no side to side or vertical play. That's more than I can say about my endura... To be completely honest, If i had known about the cara cara before I bought my endura, I probably would have bought the Cara Cara instead!

  • Hey NutnFancy, you are dead on about the Cara Cara, i just got mine through "the corner store" on your recommendation, and it is a great knife for the price, plus it came out of the box razor sharp, i give it 2 thumbs up. thanks.

  • i just bought the stainless model not heavy at all for me i forget im carrying it.mine has no pivet screw actually only pins or screws ive seen so far are belt clip witch is very sturdy great knife razor sharp got this cause sog blink was smaller than my backup and thats were my opinion speaks is versatility so i got the cara cara blink, was $20 more anyway im keeping that to get the crow or hawkbill

  • LOL, im sure he's not willing to spend 400 dollars on a knife, and no, don't get the sebenza, biggest disappointment in my life. the SNG is WAY more functional in my opinion, and chris reeve is to babyfied with his warranty.

  • This knife or Benchmade pika 2??

  • I just found a problem with the cara cara, iv had it for about a week now and guess what happend when i was playing with it today.. the pivit screw fell out, yea. really good knife for the price but just be aware that the pivit screw is kinda weak=)

  • RadioactiveSheepHerd,

That's why they make stuff called 'Thread-Lock' ;)

  • Man, I do wish they had an all Black tactical version of the FRN model ..but I guess I'll pull the trigger on the same Lt-wt model ..6oz for the all black stainless model ..ouch :0

  • I just got a FRN CE Cara for $17+tax a few hours ago. this review is spot on. even down to the barely(BARELY) noticeable side-to-side play with the blade... it's slight but it is there. oh well.

I've been checking out and handling lots of folders the past few days looking for something in the $30 range. I can't believe I walked out the door with this for only $18.32 ...it feels and looks like a $45 folder. It is a very, very well made (and comfortable) knife for the price.

    What a bargain.

  • that's an incredible price, where did you buy one for under $20 out the door?

  • Advanced Tactical & Blade; Las Vegas.

They were selling Spydercos for less than "internet prices" and of course you don't pay for shipping. Enduras and Delicas for $40. Centofante for $45. Meadowlark G-10 for $20...etc...

Plus, the girl there was this cute 16yo who was very knowledgeable/helpful and knew how to handle the knives as well. It's a family owned/operated business. Man, their prices were f'ing CHEAP compared to the other knife shop/militay surplus stores I've been to.

  • oh, btw, I went back the day after to buy the G-10 Meadowlark but decided to exchange the Cara for the Delica 4. I really like the Delica and just had to have it, but kind of regretted giving the Cara back. I'm going back to get the Cara and Meadowlark anyway... The Cara just feels so right; weight, length, looks... price :)

  • That's great that you got a nice bargain deal on the blades. It seems as you like the cara cara a lot, I have the Endura in S/S handle and it's a bit heavy for EDC so I was thinking of either the Delica in FRN or Cara Cara. I'm looking towards the Cara Cara tho since it's 1/2 the price of the Delica and seems like a lot of blade for the money. Thanks!

  • has anyone ever herd of 8cr14 steel

  • Kabar Dozier or Byrd Cara Cara?

  • kabar

  • I'd say the Byrd Cara Cara.

  • IV GOT THE KOPA IN (TIGER CORAL) I THINK? AND THEY ONLY MAKE BOUT 600 OF EACH TYPE HIGHLY COLLECTABLE. GREAT LIL edc BLADES. my old lady loves to pick her nails with it... so for 200$ i got 1 wicked nail picker i guess. but seriously, great knives. buy it!

  • hey yes im only 13 so i dont know much but i will ask anyway do you have a Spyderco Kopa Pacific Blue ~ C92PBP because i saw it on the Spyderco website and i thought it looked cool.

  • Mine's got a tiny bit of up\down bladeplay, but it's still a great knife for the money.

  • Actually, scratch that. For some reason, my hand digging into the lockback mechanism while I was holding it seems to have been grossly exaggerating the bladeplay problem. I was actually pressing it down a bit - causing a tiny bit of play in the locking mechanism. If I open it and hold it about where the zytel spacer is, hand off the locking mech... Almost nothing, every time. Even my thumb pressing hard into the back of the knife causes a tiny bit of it. Does this happen with all lockbacks? o_O.

  • i prefer the cara cara because guess what, we all use our knives some use em more roughly than others. but i use mine alot so if im going to break a knife id rather break a cheap one.

  • i got the cara cara combo with the stainless steal handle the metal lookin one not the black. its got the normal edge plus the sererated edge hence the "combo" its one of the nicest knives for the cash ive ever bought

  • mr nutnfancy can you give me some advice on one knife i know nothing about? my friend wants to sell me ckrt m16 titanium new in box for 45 bucks also i dont know anything about the carson flipers what do you think about tanto blades ?

thanks for your time please respond soon as you can

thanks for your service my military brother

    HOOOAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oh my god! story time! yea!

  • nice video...I like the look of the cara cara. almost want to buy it but would have to get a mini probably(if it exists...stupid state laws say it must be below 3"). of course if you don't get caught it doesn't matter, but I'd have to buy online and I don't know if they check that out with state laws =/. anyways good vid 5/5 and thx to cutlerylover for talking about your reviews so much.

  • I have an older Endura (maybe circa 2005) that had the old style clip screw, and Japanese made steel (ATS-55). I find that that steel is really terrible. It looks like Spyderco knives have improved a lot since I last got one. I switched to Benchmade knives a few years ago, maybe I should take another look at Spyderco? BTY, the current EDC knive is a Benchmade mini-Griptilian and I LOVE it. This was a switch from Spyderco Delicas

  • man i like it as much as my endura 4 its really well made i just picked up the G10 Crossbill today unbelievable bargain the Byrd brand just insane.

  • Let us know please, what you´d think of the finch, the robin and the meadowlark knives from the Byrd line.

I do like the Catbyrd by its looks. Time to get hands on their stuff

  • Nice review nutnfancy! thanks! i think it would be interesting to compare the two knives on a long term basis after having them abused really badly. would there be differences regarding quality? what knife did you use as pointer in this video? it looks like a SAK with a clip...

  • FWIW, on my scale a G10 cara cara is 4.4 oz. The same scale measures a Tenacious at just over 4.1 oz. Type-o on Sypderco's part perhaps? Nevertheless, an excellent knife.

    Keep up the good work!

  • I ordered one last week along with a rat-1. Can't wait to get them, great review 5 stars.

  • After watching the review of this Cara Cara and the Tenacious, i would chose the Tenacious and never look back... Im seeing brand new Tenacious's selling just under 30 on ebay, and IMO the blade shape combined with a full flat grind on the tenacious is heads and shoulders above the Cara Cara.. Your basically getting 90 percent of a Para Millie for thirty bucks... minus the S30v blade... for the thirty bucks i could live with AUS 8 characteristics all day long...

  • Watchout with Ebay. There are a LOT of counterfeit knives for sale there these days, really good counterfeits that will fool most people. Cold Steel is another brand with a lot of fakes on Ebay. Word to the wise. If the price is too good, well, you know why.

  • this review is spot on, i got the G10 edition, which i think is worth the extra money and weight as mine with the full steel scale liners has 0 play. i think the cara cara look better but the attension to detail is the weak point, certainly not the design

  • me to by the way ffdd567 is my brother fyi.

  • just picked one up thanks for another great review like i needed it. guess i did lol

  • Mine just came in in FRN, very good knife for the money. Wouldn't want the heavier model. Had to loosen it up a tiny bit because IMHO byrds come a little tight. Incredibly sharp. Will prob. replace my Delica 3 for EDC because of its ltwt tac use as well. Takes a little more wrist flip to get the blade out is all. late

  • You wrote "good traction Zytel handle", it's actually FRN not zytel.

  • Cool knife. i have to say i like the blade shape on this offering better than the Endura. Nice job Spyderco. Great review Nutnfancy. Glade you are keepin in real.

  • Those Byrds are getting better and better.I just got a G10 Crossbill.Wonderful quality for the price.

  • By the way, the G10 version has tip up left and right carry option only (no tip down), and also have a larger pivot screw.

  • I have the G10 version and am very happy with it. Excellent price/value, could not ask for more.

    Good review,thanks!

  • your review has inspired me to get one. thx!

  • diffrent blade shapes though

  • Great review. I love my Byrd Crossbill.

  • good review, tnx =].

thay changed a litel of evrything, that makes a difrint knife.

  • Cool beans. A buddy of mine at work just got one. Its really nice. I have a G10 Flight and agree. About the best deal going for the price.

  • love spyderco's
