in your experience would you ever buy an ar15 that was chambered for a 7.62 .armalite has one that i WANT to buy $1600 any comments that you might have
Cool review, Ive been looking into Stag arms for there model 1 and then looking at a scope, really like your setup. I have a Local shop that sells these, so i think i'll pick one up this summer...
@BoxMakosnipes No. Even for military to own an actual M4 with 3 round burst mode outside the military is a pain in the ass. I bought one after returning from Iraq. There is SO much red tape, registration fees, etc.. After one year, rather than renew everything ( thinking around 350bux) I just decided to buy an AR and Traded mine back to the same person I purchased from.
Great video and thanks for your service. I saw a Stag at a local show last week Model 2L Chrome line BBL left hand for $825. Looks to be a good price to me
@solidseung ok thanks dude. rem umc is what i use too, just i usually gotta order it cause it comes and goes, now im waiting on some, for now i bought some fed xm193 and it was dirty as hell, i had to wipe them clean, that ammo scares me though, there's lines on some of the bullet tips that go in a circle right at the very tip, it looks like i can break the tip off or something
@solidseung Oh damn, silly me. I love that gun, I'm going to be buying a Stag upper this weekend and then a lower in 2 weeks when the next paycheck rolls in. The only thing i don't like is the stock, I prefer the A2 stock, but to each his own.
@vladzizka A 14.5" barrel and shorter requires a NFA tax and a 16" barrel and longer do not. If you are not a serious gun collector or LEO then don't bother. Stick with a 16" M4 style barrel. The long range accuracy and ballistics is better anyways.
@vladzizka Or you can get a 14.5" barrel with a pinned and welded flash hider that is 16" in total length, making it NFA free. The only downside is that you cannot remove the flash hider, so a two piece handguard is needed if you want to free float the barrel.
@777BedHead777 A piece of 550 parachute cord secured to the bottom floorplate with grip tape wrapped around the magazine. It's a grunt's version of the Ranger plates that Magpul makes.
@daser1220 When your eye focuses on the red chevron in the ACOG you don't even notice the front iron sight. If you try to see it, the front sight is so close that it's barely visible and blurry.
What about Accuracy? I'm thinking of getting a shorty, for coyote hunting and just plinking and of course if ever needed for anything serious, then it's good for that too.. I'm wondernig how accurate it is though if you've actually tried to bench it and shoot at like a 100 yard with some reloads or target ammo? If so, please post when you have the time, and thanks so much for the review.. Very cool..
@SeymourHoosierDaddy Thank you, I appreciate the comments and people who enjoy firearms as much as I do. For a 16" M4 barrel with a 1/9 twist, I can hit targets effectively at 300 meters confidently with 55 grain bullets. Les Johnson on Predator Quest shoots 55 gr Hornady V-Max bullets out of his bolt action rifle and does serious long distance damage. When I get around to doing an update video, I'll try to bench it and use good target ammo to see what kind of groupings I can get.
Hi, Nice Job. I had the orginal m16 in the army back in 79 to 83.. I say that because at Ft Carson my issued M16 said on the lower reciever GM xm15 or something and then it was stamped M16 as well.. I've never seen another..
I could be wrong, but it looks as if you are left-handed. Did you go with a right-handed model because that is what you are use to? I, personally, just bought a L2 and it does take a little getting use to. Good vid and great gear. I'm jealous as hell about that buttstock.
@Heavyb2u Thanks and good eye. I'm predominantly left-handed, left-eye dominant. But when it comes to handguns I prefer to draw with my right hand and still aim with my left eye. Went with a RH model because that's what I was issued and used to. The VLTOR (pronounced ULTOR) EMOD rocks!
im gunna be stupid and make maybe an obvious assumption that that is a 2 piece rail system? my Exchange on base has a Stag Model 1 with the removable carry handle...but like you i would wanna throw an optic and put a rail on there.
@pvc727 Yes, it's the Knight's Armament RAS handguards which replace the stock plastic ones. They are a 2 piece design just like the current US Army M4. I recently picked up the Knight's Armament free float RAS handguard but you will need a qualified gunsmith to install them. The free float system is supposed to be more accurate but I also think they look cool. I agree, the optic and rail system are two of the most important upgrades.
@solidseung sounds good man. i just bought a Stag Model 1 yesterday and took the hand guard off it and threw a Magpul rear flip up sight on it and an MOE stock. Looking for a 2 piece quad rail for it now...i would get the free float but i dont know if i wanna spend the money to get it smithed. They stopped selling rails and foregrips on base :( but anyways sweet gun and great video!
also. if this is a SHTF gun i would put the stock trigger back in. if its just for fun at the range it doesn't matter. triggers are one thing we keep stock for defensive and fighting rifles.
Nice ar bro, I want an M4 so bad! I loved my M4 in the army. ill be getting one soon and i plan to dress it out just like my issue rifle if possible, obviously it wont be full auto but everything else hopefully i can find. stay safe bro HOOAH!
@deathdrummer704 Thank you. Good question, yes the ACOG does touch the ARMS backup iron sight but not with tension. If you push down on the buis it will still move a little being spring loaded. At first I thought that I should get a lower profile buis for looks but on second thought I like the fit. There is less of a chance of me hitting the release lever and having the spring loaded sight pop up, hitting the ACOG sight.
hey nice ar15 hows it working out for you nowadays run into any malfunctions??? i might get a stag arms ar just wanted your opinion so far? i hear there pretty high quality
@boozeye66 Now that I have a Failzero bolt in my Stag AR-15, it is scary reliable. It asks for no lube or grease and cleaning is very simple. My friend calls it my "I am Legend" rifle. Stag Arms makes one of the best AR-15 platforms out there.
well, I've never been in the military, so I don't have anywhere near the level of experience that you have, but in my honest opinion, EOTech mops the floor with ACOG and Aimpoint, and EOTech is way cheaper!
I've shot with all of them, and EOTech is the winner, hands down.
anyway, nice rifle. just wondering, what made you choose Stag over the other options? I went with RRA just because of their FBI and DEA contracts.
@NOLA556 Thank you. I don't like sights that use batteries. EOTech uses batteries. With enough training and practice, CQC with an ACOG is not a problem. I get fast head-shots at CQC distances because of the zoom. I chose Stag Arms because of their reliability and reputation. its pronounced "ultor" dont try to argue, look on their website. the company is named after some greek god, "ultor" and when carving in stone, its hard to make a U, so its a V
@prohunter105 Simple answer, no. You know the saying, "you pay for what you get" and that is totally true when it comes to firearms. A good AR-15 will run you about $1000 and up. The cheaper ones are brands that I think of as generic. Save your money and spend it on a quality model. Then there will be no regrets.
@solidseung I have a del-ton that runs as good as a colt. i bought the del-ton as a m4 rifle kit and put it on an aero precision lower. the ONLY difference between my del-ton and my service rifle was the gas key isnt staked completely right on the del-ton, but its still awesome for $500
@prohunter105 check out this website lanworldinc and look up by manufacturer, select stag arms. they range from 900-1200+ they are beautiful pieces of work. If im not mistaken i believe the site sells firearms California legal so they are all semi autos
hi im gonna start on my ar 15 build and i was wondering what you think of the quality of the lower is? im gonna it get it completely stripped and build it up from there. thanks
Hello, I have a stag arms model 3 and I want that same VLTOR buttstock. But, I am a bit confused on whether to get the milspec or commerical one. Which one did you get?
@Mpermanent I got the VLTOR EMOD buttstock with a milspec buffer tube. The lens pen came with the ACOG but you can buy one for $10. It has a plastic clip on it but I just cut it off to make the pen fit inside the tube.
Nice video. What model is that Stag? I have been looking into getting the model 2T, and kinda like the model 3. I like the quad rail on the M2T. Do you know if there is much difference between two?
Great video!!! I love my Stag AR-15 Model 1. Just like the M4 that I had in Mosul, Iraq (1-25 Stryker BDE, 3-21 Infantry, 2004-2005). I NEVER had a problem with that weapon...NEVER! I like the additional gadgets that you showed, I know my wife hates when I see stuff like this!
@mcobraii I thought about upgrading the grips but I like the feel of the stock one. I wanted the look and the feel of the M4 Carbine so I kept the stock grip and got the Knight's Armament RAS handguard. I used a standard 6 -position buttstock but wanted the newer VLTOR EMOD buttstock now issued and used by the Infantry and SOCOM. I do have Hogue rubber grips on my Sig Sauer P228.
@dundeal1980 Thanks, bro. Stag Arms make very nice AR-15s and are one of the few companies that make a left-handed version. Even though I'm a southpaw, being drilled with the right-handed G.I. model and doing S.P.O.R.T.S. over and over from EIB training has made me accustomed to it. If I got the left-handed model everything would be backwards! When I shoot a pistol I fire right-handed, left-eye dominant. Ambidextrous weirdness.
