I am an avid Obama fan, but I don't think Huckabee really intended anything vile... Almost immediately he apologized... and not just the normal fake, political apology that starts, "I am sorry if anyone was offended..." He was sincerely sorry and said himself, "It was the dumbest thing I could have said. I am very sorry." We should remember that he was one of the very few conservatives to come out and vehemently defend Obama during the Reverend Wright issue. I can't stand his policies though.

Actually rapid, al qaeda WASN'T a factor in Iraq, until after our invasion. Al Qaedi in Iraq was created by the invasion. Whereas previously they were seen as terrorists by the Iraqis, our occupation made them seem like freedom fighters. That was the achievement of Bush and his stupid evil policy.

I know that when the Dems took over congress in 2006, gas was reasonably priced relative to past levels and against all odds, it had cost less than it had throughout most of the century. In the last two years I saw the price double.
The gas has nothing to do with Bush, it's supply and demand. The left doesn't want us to drill so we don't have enough supply. It's that simple.
What does any of this have to do with Iraq? If we were getting that oil, gas'd be cheaper.

The invasion of Iraq gave oil prices a big boost. Search "price of oil", the wiki page has a graph of oil prices over time, you can see that it started to rise as soon as Bush started threatening war with Iraq. It's gone from $20 a barrel to $135.

Get your facts straight. Gas wasn't "cheaper than past levels" in 2006 (cheaper than now, yes). In 1999, before W stole office, a gallon was anywhere from $0.79 to about $1.35 (depending where you lived), so since 1999 gas prices have multipled four-fold. Now they are trying to convince us $4 a gallon is a bargain (probably so they can raise prices and we accept them without question, just as the W sheep have been doing for the past 7 years cuz "if they say it is so, it must be so, you know").

The Muslim world is deeply divided, penny. They are at war with themselves. It is only OUR stupid blundering that has given the fanatic jihadists a measure of credibility among mainstream Muslims.
Obama is exactly the man who can take advantage of those internal divisions to isolate and marginalize the terrorist wing of Islam.
Many Muslims want to leave their medieval mindset and join the 21st century. We can use them against the fanatic jihadists.

It's great that al qaeda in iraq is being beaten. It was always a foreign and artificial enemy, without much homegrown support.
Here's the problem: insurgency is also politics by other means. As the violent resistance ramps down, the political resistance ramps up. A truly free and representative iraqi govt will be very anti-American.

Yesterday tens of thousands of Iraqis took to the streets to protest the construction of 14 permanent American military bases to anchor our occupation in the coming decades.
The presence of American troops in Iraq will guarantee the continuation of violent resistance. Once we leave, Iraq will at least have a chance at developing stable self-governance.
The upcoming election is vital. We need to repudiate the imperialist war policy and war party (neoGOPs) to protect our own freedoms.

Yeah rapido, tens of thousands of Iraqis felt free to get out en masse to register their rejection of military occupation. They don't want to be part of our empire.
We are making so much progress that we need to get out of Iraq as soon as we send our Moron-in-Chief packing. Once he scurries back to Crawdad we can get to work repairing the damage of his disastrous incompetence.
President Obama is going to initiate a new era of progress after 8 years of agonizing stupidity.

As opposed to America, where you pay a $50 deductible before the dentist will look at your teeth; then you must pay up-front because they're afraid the insurance won't pay; and then insurance will pay 80% for cleanings, x-rays, and simple fillings; but you must pay 50% of everything else, but only up to $1000 because that's the most dental insurance will pay in any given year? Oh, and that's right. This is the "good" dental insurance if you are lucky enough to have any at all!
