I have been learning for about a year now. I think you are doing very well as I appreciate how difficult it is to try and get everything together. Well done and keep up the good work!
Hi mate, U shouldnt really put vibrato in at ur stage, u need to sort tuning out first trust me, ive played for 7 years and im on grade 8 viola and didnt start vibrato untill 4ish-5ish.
thanks, tomkid. I felt that I needed to improve tuning too, trouble was that I had to start learning vibrato some time. I eventually started a year or so after this video, it was hard. But it improved my intonation.
@tomkid2 Oh good, I thought I was the only one who started vibrato later. I'll have played for sex years in october, and I'm still having alot of trouble with it :( oh well, practicing vibrato specifically for half an hour a day, so just hoping itll improve with time.
I agree winemac, but at that time, I couldn't do vibrato AT ALL. Lordie, it was the hardest thing I've had to learn on vibrato (vibrato, I mean). thanks for your comment.
i think you have the ability to play this song. up the tempo a little bit and try to get all notes in tune. some vibrato would be great too. I am currently working on this piece for my fifth grade exam and i got some inspiration from that. Bravo!!!!
The shifting is very audible, try to reduce the shifting sound, try this exercise, play everything staccto, then when u come to a string change or shift, stop for a brief moment, do this alot, and when u play it regularly, there will barely be any shifting noise.
Eugh, I play it...and...a little thing: Im not sure for you, but 1-it doesn't sound right...2-don't worry...as long as you got the piece right, the vibrato will come, 3-did you mess up on slurring somewhere?
Hi,a play sins i was 5 now im 19 and im a student at the Academy of Arts, this sonate isint for your level of playing sorry, try to play something easier some etudes to gain the ability to play this sonate and other stuff ,try the Carl Flesch Scale System.....a wish you the best off luck.
Can't wait for you to post another version with a vibrato in it. You're playing very well, and I think a good vibrato would REALLY knock this piece outta the park. :)
Thankyou. I look forward to seeing your videos. Don't be scared, just go for it. Its a bit embarrassing, but it helps to objectively look back at what you think you are doing, and what you really are doing.
This is pretty good! Your hands and wrists are great: straight left wrist and your bow hand is awesome. The technical stuff is all perfect. :)

Keep up the work...Start off in 1st pos. where you can and don't use vibrato until you are familiar with the piece.

If I could voice my opinion, I think that you need to play with more vibrato and try to make the notes flow more.

See above exavian. I just couldn't do vibrato at that time.

i played this piece, and a good vibrato would greatly improve the sound quality, and up the tempo a bit
