Great job my friend!! I love your style. Awesome the way you get that pedal sound out of the dobro. I am trying to learn and I greatly appreciate guys like you who post videos so guys like me can have something to watch and see what it's supposed to sound like lol.
I can't believe that ater watching this video for several months, I just noticed that you switch guitars at the 1:18 point. Mesmerized, I was. The F hole reso has the second B tuned down to A? So you can pull it to get that pedal steel effect? That's just flat out kick ass.
HEY MARTIN, IT OUGHT TO BE A SIN THE WAY YOU PLAY LOL. MY GOD I THOUGHT THAT JOSH GRAVES WAS AWESOME BUT MAN YOUR RIGHT THERE WITH HIM WOOOOO WEEEE!!! MAN YOUR AWESOME..I ADMIRE YOU AND HAVE YOU IN MY FAVORITES. THERES NOTHING ANY BEAUTIFUL THAN A DOBRO PLAYED THE WAY YOU DO IT. GOD I WISH I MCOULD PLAY LIKE THAT.HEY GOD BLESS AND I LOVE YOUR PLAYING. I DONT KNOW HOW YOU AND JOSH GRAVES WHO HAS PASSED AWAY NOW, DOES IT BUT YOUR GREAT
yo martin! this is some legit stuff you rock. Im a 16 year old who is teaching himself dobro i know how to play just about everything else but this stuff really inspires keep up the jam man!
You are very skilled on that lap style resophonic guitar. I really like the way you pull out the feelings & emotions on every song you play. Keep posting this great music so I can learn how it should be played. You deserve a Republic of TEXAS citizenship! What a great talent you have. ✫✫✫✫✫+ in my book
Martin I have been playing guitar since 1957 and have owned a Regal resonator for 30 years. I've been trying to sell it ever since I bought never thinking I could learn to play it. That was before I stumbled on dobro lessons on you-tube. I got past the cramps in my left hand and the fumbling with the right and am gradually making headway. Then I stumbled on you and I couldnt believe what ears were hearing. I want to thank you for putting all these together....
This is a great arrangement! I've been trying to learn it and steals some licks. How on earth do you get the triple stop, backwards slant string pull in tune?!?!
Nice work.

it´s good to hear from you. Capo still works ok ?.
Well about that backward slant including the string bend. I can only do it if there is a little time in the solo to place the steelbar correctly before that difficult move comes.
I have just sat through all of your videos tonight and only have one regret-many of them aren't anywhere near long enough. :-( But seeing I read on one of them you do most of the backing as well, I can understand it must take quite a while to put one together.
I do find it amazing though that the best pedal steel player on Youtube is from England (David Hartley) and the best reso player a German - you. Love both instruments. What so where are the good players from the land of origin - USA?
Hallo nochmal Herr Gross, ich bin Neuling auf dem Lapsteel Gebiet, stimmen Sie für das tiefe G und H die Saiten eines normalen Satzes nach oben oder benutzen Sie dünnere Saiten dafür?
wow!! i was so impatient! finally a new video! thank you so much martin. it's a wonder as always. your technique is awesome. i'm a real fan. keep on man. peace

Bondidog, Like you I too am disappointed in the lack of outstanding USA talent on YouTube Channels.
Unfortunately many good USA musicians in this style of music seem to be to busy. I know because several of them are my good friends.
Also one reason musicians in Europe are very good at this music is because many of these great western songs have English &/or German roots.
Many of the songs composers/musicians came from the "Old Country" and/or their parents came from there.
