they had to throw out their old uniforms but peter did not.later the containment unit obsorbed some ectoplasm and ghost that looked like the ghostbusters started walking around in the old uniforms.their proton packs shoot out very destructive ectoplasm but when they shoot it takes away some of their energy. the ghost came and started to surround the ghostbusters so slimer decided to fly around and dodge the ectoplasm so they would get weaker. they got so weak that the ghostbusters were able

in the show it says that after walter peck destroyed the fire house all of the ghosts got out including slimer he decided to stay at the fire house.when they finnally got finnished they had a big feast and slimer charged for the food.they tried to get slimer but he got away.after a while ray got fascinated with him and so did whinston but peter did not really like him but egon wanted to study him since he cant study the ghosts in the containment unit up close

One thing gets on my mind through out the History Ghostbusters. They never even talk to Slimer or do test on him like they did in the cartoon series WHY? And Louis is the only person who even talk to Slimer.

Because he was supposed to just be another random ghost in the 1st movie. Then after that they made the cartoon, which wasn't supposed to be canon at all, just something to entertain the kids. After the show gained popularity, specifically the Slimer character, they brought him back for a cameo in GB2. They DO however make reference to him and show him being an experiment and study aide in Ghostbusters the Video game.
