It looks more like Kenny than Aigburth to me.. Magic of cinema eh? From someone who works in the media industry, a die hard beatles fan and ironically an ex resident of Penny lane, i have no quams in stating that this is one of my favorite musicals.
Awesome film! I´VE JUST WATCHED IT AT THE NEAREST CINEMA FROM HOME,AND IT REALLY TOCHED MY HEART AND MADE ME CRY WITH SUCH A BEAUTIFUL HISTORY AND SONGS BY MY BEATLES.I LOVED IT! EXCELENT MOVIE,I´M GRATEFUL TO HAVE SEEN THIS AMAZING MUSICAL WORK,AS IT´S A GREAT JOB OF ART,AND AS THE BEATLES HAVE BEEN,AND IT IS STILL, THE FAVORIT BAND EVER OF MY LIFE.
I spoke to Jim at lunch time just commenting on the weather (cold) but did not know who he was. I sat near to him on a wall later on and could have got some stuff on tape but to be honest did not realize how important he was in the film! When you are asked to provide cars etc you don't really get much info about the film, just the requirements of the film company.
That's cool! Hey, do you remember what streets the movie filmed on? For instance, like where "Jude" lived, etc? Any info would be appreciated! I am going to Liverpool tomorrow to visit for a few days.
The first scenes in my video were filmed in Aigburth in and around Woodlands Road Lucan Road and Bundoran Road. The alley is in Bundoran and runs behind the houses in Woodlands and Lucan Road. The second set of clips with the singers and tramp were filmed in Wavertree just off Picton Road in Pulmer Street. Jim is seen walking down Broadwood Street into Pulmer Street as the tramp is playing the boxes.
i will post another video tomorrow showing on Google earth the location of the filming and what was done and were. To answer your question Jim's house was in Woodlands Road, about two houses down from Bundoran Road. You see him walk up the alley and go into a gate on his left. The actual house they filmed in was on the right but the other gate looked better on film. Cheers Mark
I have just looked at the filming schedule I had for the day, it was the 20th to 24th January 2006! not 7. I wonder if this schedule is worth anything to a collector. I will show it on the video I am uploading soon. Cheers
I have just bought the DVD at Christmas for this movie as a keepsake, for what was a brilliant week long experience. I would love to know if Julie Taymor or any of the hundreds of people involved in making this movie have watched either of my small "the making of" videos... comments would be appreciated. Cheers Mark
YES! To Jim, just talking about how cold it was but had no idea who he was!!!! As I provided some of the cars I was allowed to wander around the filming location. I also had a two way radio provided by the filming crew so I could listen to all the chatter from each of the different crews, director etc. It was brilliant, I am trying to see if I can get involved in other films in the future. Cheers Mark
yeah but u have to tell me haha i wanna get in the movie business too :D ok ok you dont have to lol.. i dont even now you but i would appreciate it if you would :) i speak 3 languages italian, spanish, english.. just telling you some directors like international people lol..
Not sure why you are asking me... this was the first film I have been involved in and that was only because of my link with classic cars. I was just lucky and got a call from a film prop company because of my wedding car website. If you want to be an actor you need do get on an extras register and start from there. I did lots of networking with crews on the set so might get a call again in the future. It might be better if you got a job in Tescos... at least you will get regular work!! cheers
The first scenes in my video were filmed in Aigburth in and around Dundonald Road, Brabant Road and Rundle Road. The alley is in Rundle and runs behind the houses in Brabant and Dundonald Road. The second set of clips with the singers and tramp were filmed in Wavertree just off Picton Road in Pulmer Street. Jim is seen walking down Broadwood Street into Pulmer Street as the tramp is playing the boxes.
Finally the last clips were filmed as you said in Durning Road (hence the heavy Police and private security presence!). I supplied the cars for the other days filming at the ship repairers in Beaufort Road, Birkenhead and on the dock roads in Liverpool at the market gates but was unable to go and see the filming on those days.
I am kicking myself now as I did not know who Jim Sturgess was at the time. I sat and stood next to him on several occasions and had the chance to get some comments on video but did not bother!!!!
Looks like arri 435. I think I spotted a 535, but not sure. I would have assumed they would prefer a 235 for the technocrane and steadicam shots, but those too looked like 435s.
I also noted a wendys light (strangely looked like a 1/2 wendys light with almost all the globes off) and a 6K arri HMI.
great film for the cinematographys sake.
you say expensive film cameras? maybe I shouldn't mention how much each of those lenses cost.
They did on the wide scenes but in my other video in the alley the audio was used. The big group of extras you see singing in the street was used in the wide shot of them walking down the street following Jude (Jim S). Cheers Mark
Just Jim Sturgess. I spoke to Jim at lunch time just commenting on the weather (cold) but did not know who he was. What a fab experience. They did well to disguise all the double-glazing, Sky dishes, purple wheely bins etc! I recognise the streets at the end - it's just off Durning Road. Not sure about the beginning though - is it Old Swan?

my friend and i barley made the cut-off age (PG-13) and my mom was threatening to take us out of the theater if it got "too risquay" but luckily she was too busy looking at Jim to notice the nude scene, lol!
i've seen it 4 times and it was the best way to spend my $32. I really can't wait till it come out on DVD!! i think it come out January 28. and seeing it 12 times sounds a little...well unrealistic.
