  • I am getting no audio from this apart from the introduction

  • you guys are really great! :D

  • We look forward to John at the Comhaltas Convention in San Antonio

  • Can you play this scale on most 2 or 3 row diatonic accordions?

  • @PrinceAbigor Yes. Any diatonic box that can play in G and D can manage all these three tunes easily.

  • Thanks for giving me someone to practice with. You give me something to strive for.

  • outstanding good performance !

    Absolutely great.

  • Love this playing. Can anyone name the first two?

  • @danoconnell55 Hi, i'm from Scotland, we call that first jig 'the road to skye'! Not sure about 2nd one. lovely playing though.

  • @danoconnell55 Read the description for the names of the first two tunes! The first one is also known as "The New York Jig" and the second is indeed The Killavil Jig.

  • I'm a bassist, guitarist, synth player and vocal artist, and the box playing still blows my mind... brilliant!

  • john looks different in this one

  • lovely stuff

  • Class music , nice drive

Whats the name of the third tune?

  • It's Phil's Favourite

  • The third jig is called "Gillan's Apples"

  • @Stargreened Not to be confused with "Gillan's melons".

  • Does anyone else here the narrator's intake of breath right at the end of the video??

  • Felix Dolan deserves soo much respect; the chap has the cutting edge .. Gewon Felo !!

    John's also a legend ...

  • Incredibly well done . What a party !

  • Some Box Player 5***** ♥

  • That was Fabulously well done guys keep it up I love Irish and scotish jigs they are the best music I have heard all my life.

    Cheers Ron!

  • Great playing - you can really see the joy they share just playing a few tunes together. Top stuff.

  • Great stuff and obviously enjoying themselves

  • good playing john eugene

  • excellent box music

  • the third tune is called:

    gillans apples

  • an incredible player using a terrible accordion

  • Not at all, an accordion isn't an accordion if it hasn't a bit of a growl to it! SOd these dry tuned accordions, lets have them all with BIG WIDE MUSETTES! :)

  • i completely agree. a box needs 2 have a bit of a growl, but his type of growl isnt my type

  • Thats a cairdin irish built you need your ears cleaned

  • im more into the late joe maddens accordion sound. good old fashioned paolo soprani

  • collectors item

  • Mr. Whelan is a fabulous accordion player. I have one of his cd's.

  • bravi

  • This is not a good box player but a great box player.

  • Great playing. No gimmicks, fantastic music.

  • If I play this music outdoors while cleaning up the yard, do you think the snow will melt faster? For sure, there will be one happier worker!

  • Wanda,

You'll have to visit Ireland to learn a few steps!

  • Oh, I'll be in Ireland & counting on you to teach me a few steps! I've closely watched Irish dancers....steps are difficult, but they make it look easy by their beautiful erect posture from waist up. Best to be light as a feather!
