Some people seem to don't understand the goal of it. It's to show that the electric motor of Tesla is good enought to be compared with other sport cars. Ok, it's still not perfect, but you must admit it's an awesome car!
@xXxBlackKnifexXx i dont think it is "The car of the future" because there is no one who wants to buy one. It must constantly charging, and thats not fun..
AND WHAT ABOUT THE SOUND!
P,S i dont think Tesla was winning? Maybe it was faster, but win? NO!
honestly i would have the tesla roadster just 2 have i mean sports cars dont get good mileage either. if i wanted good mileage i would buy the new announced model x which can get up 2 360 miles per charge
You can take that Porsche Boxter to Hawaii? Wow, so the Porsche boxter even doubles as a boat? There are thousands of miles of water between mainland US and Hawaii.
That Kim guy is just like the usual Liberal, environmentalist. Yet, nothing to say about the nickel those batteries are built with or the copper that's dangerously mined for it or the damage they cause being buried in the ground or dumped in the ocean.
@Buttnut105 Copper can be sourced from recycled materials as can nickel. We already have enormous amounts of both that can be used. Why would you dump batteries in the ocean or bury them? Recycle those bitches too.
@Jemalacane Well I usually go by what I read and watch but hey, people that reply trying to outsmart me do tend to know everything. The way I see it, the technology hasn't been here for the last hundred years when the first EV was made, and it isn't here yet. Until the mileage (and I'm talking, real world mileage) get's comparable, the technology is properly developed, charging takes a very short time and prices/reliability issues are addressed, I will not support the idea.
you eco nuts, never talk about how batteries are more toxic that anything, and are impossible to dispose of, and how mining the nickel for the batteries takes more coal energy that mining for fossil fuel , and the nickel in the battery is stripping the earth on minerals, more liberal yahoos
neith will the nickel thats mined from the earth , and the coal thats used to power the refinement plants, so how will batteries be made? and burying batteries in land and ocean sure sounds like a good alternative
@fizixs1 Are you supposing we stop developing the technology? It's not perfect yet, it's in its infant stage. It'll get better and more efficient. Batteries CAN be properly disposed btw
They always fail to mention that the gas engine has 250 moving parts and the electric has 5. The fact is the electric engine is far more efficient. The motor will probably never need replaced of course the battery will. There making batteries better all the time. I think ill have one of the new tesla s. A bit slower but i think its going to be a better built car. More innovation and cheaper.
Tesla won the drag race. The tesla has 100% torque at 0 rpm and it maintains 100% until it gets to 12000 rpms which is incredible. The Porsche has to wait until the engine revs to 1200 rpm before it will accelerate then peaks at 3500 rpm then tops at 6k rpm then had to clime next gear all over again. The porsche has unreal torques but it cant put them to the wheels as quickly as a electric motor can.
Please stop making videos. Your production value in this video is terrible. The presenters have no business being on this film. Go watch a season of bbc topgear and you will understand. This is embarrassing. Thumbs up if you agree.
Beautiful Cars. Missing some basic points about car ownership costs. I believe Porsche requires $8,000 breaks at about 15,000 miles. Fuel is also a major cost of ownership. I'm not sure how long an electric motor lasts though. Longer, shorter than internal combustion? Not sure. Anyway that Porsche sings and is quite lovely.
@ejessieb Here's some stats on the Tesla I've got in a book about all kinds of fun stuff.
16 Hours charge time with 220 miles on completion - on your standard home outlet, with a 63amp outlet, the overall charge time is 3 hours.
It costs 2 cents per kilometre to run.
Jay Leno states he has never done any maintenance on his 1909 Baker electric besides greasing the wheel hubs. Perhaps the Tesla will have the same story.
Battery life is aprox 5 years - 100, 000 miles on the clock.
@Scrallex The exhaust is rigidly attached to the motor which is attached to the chassis by a flexible motor mount. What you are seeing is the motor mounts flexing to reduce vibration in the chassis. "Clamp" the exhaust down and it would break the exhaust...
I can tell the stearing and handling on the tesla is shit. You can see the driver strugling with the stearing, and everytime it takes a curve you can see the stearing wheel jerking a little from side to side. also if you notice on the curves when looking at the car the way it swings that the suspension is too raised and not as tight and and close to the ground as the boxter is.
@fortunate3232 Also I can notice that the handling is extremely sluggish compare to the boxter. In my opinion, i would still prefer a porche over a tesla. The only thing the video reveals is tesla is a expensive super car that doesnt meet the standards of a sports car.
What's wrong with people? They choose Porsche for the noise of it?
You really mean these people spent hundreds of thousands (just an estimative, I didn't search the price) and what they are focusing in is things like "noise"?
Well i'm going to research a super loud noise blender and attach it to a tiny bike and sell to these people, cause they sincerely must be FUCKING STUPID.
Just being honest, sorry if it hurts your fragile exacerbated consumist noise needing feelings.
If people complain so much about electric cars taking some time to recharge (which from what I know, doesn't take more than a couple hours), why don't they start producing hydrogen based cars and some kind of industry to produce hydrogen (which is very easy, just extract it from water with electrolysis).
Plus, there's no smoke coming from a hydrogen-oxygen reaction in a car, only water ;)
@Acd9825 Noise? That's the excuse you have? LOL...
Anyway, i'm not going to waste my time discussing, it's your problem, and your risk of cancer caused by all that street pollution being breathed in by you everyday.
man, we're going backward. I played with electric cars when I was a kid. Electric cars make no sound, has limited range, and just oozes new-age hippies. Funnily, I just paid for a Shimano electric dura ace bicycle set and now I'm going back to old school cables.
the tesla is a very good sport car, but not any electric car will ever be the car of the future, a car that you can´t drive into a track because if you do you have no way of coming back to your home cause the range is not enough, that has such a low reliability that you can´t even compare to a lotus and that will damage the enviorment more than a hummer h1 in the long run.
@ZKichiro - Exactly how do you believe it would damage the environment more than a hummer? If you are one of those people that think the coal usage is more polluting than oil, you are very wrong and need to go to some research. If you are one of those people that think the battery is toxic to the environment, again you need to go do some objective research. Also the Tesla has like 300 miles range, how far is the track?
They brought it on a trailer, because it lacks the range to drive to the track. The track is a 3+ hr. drive away from the cars delivery point. Considering they wanted some time on the track and to test the car under high performance testing conditions, trailering it was the cautious approach. Tesla has been trying to sell these cars for a few years now and despite stopping production, have plenty of inventory left. I would lease it, as there will be no resale value on the roadster.
In addition, they were talking about having a trailer follow your Tesla. The Tesla roadster has a range of 245 miles per charge, so a trailer is hardly necessary.
The performance version of the Tesla Model S, a full size family sedan, has up to 300 miles per charge and 4.5 seconds from 0-60. The Model S starts at $50,000, ten thousand less than the Porsche.
@thencaesarfalls The Tesla Model S with 300 miles range (Signature Series) will sell for closer to $80K, not the $50K you represent. Furthermore, the 4.5 sec. 0 - 60 time is for an additional performance package, which Tesla has not indicated any pricing figures for as of yet. Also, Porsche's don't get a Federal Tax Credit, which is also factured into the pricing figures. Tesla is the next Enron. I hope you do not own the stock.
@llparasitell. I gave it a thumb down because of the way they chickened out with the drag race, because they were afraid to piss off the manufacturers if they showed who won.
yes CO2 is bad for the atmosphere, but humans have been around for like 1 thousand of the time that earth has existed, and it is proven that there is a ice age like every 20,000 thousands years and human kind is just coming out of one and the earth is starting to heat back up till it collapse again and causing another ice age its inevitable the worlds is going to heat up no matter what we do, and yes we may be able to slow it down maybe just a little but we cant stop it!!!
@D1sepuku Batteries were not as good that time, now when the technology is more advanced its time to do something to clean the air a bit.It will take them another 5-7 years before they develop something that could be much better then gas vehicles , but its coming sooner or later
I don't see how you need a trailer following you in a Tesla when all you need is an electric outlet. NOT EVEN A GAS STATION. Is that guy retarded??? It goes a good 300 miles on a charge. So as long as you watch the power gage just like a regular car you'll be alright because I'm quite sure there are wall sockets to be found a few places here and there. hmm idiot....
awhhh yeahhh telsa pwned in the drag. i mean think about it, how fast does electricity travel? very very fast, almost instantly. i really wouldnt mind having either of these cars though.
@tmbvd3 considering that the tesla has an electric motor it doesnt need more than one gear, a car with a gas engine needs more than one gear to actually start moving then speed up..... electric doesnt need that because it will put out all its torque allowing the car to accelerate to higher speeds without needing more then one gear....giving it a transmission will one weight it down too.
i dont understand something, when they are driving and they are filming from the outside it seems to be nobody in the passanger seat but when they are filming from the inside you can see tin the shadow that there is a camera guy in the passanger seat i dont understand whats the need for doing that
@MrNo0nekares proper steering and brakes unlike the Tesla), and you'll never run out of juice, if you run out of batteries the generator kicks in to charge the batteries and run the motors. It's all for the best.
@MrNo0nekares Cars have been like that for ages, and believe me, they don't break, especially porches (I don't like them, but it's a fact that they are sturdy). For trackday (or track morning... lol) toy the Tesla has it's uses, or as an extremely expensive town car, otherwise with the mileage you get out of a single charge, this car is a joke. There are cars like th Fisker Karma which are electric/hybrid, that are real cars with everything you'll expect in a modern luxury sports car (with
@MrNo0nekares You obviously have no knowledge of mechanics at all... he tries to spin the whells in a bit of tamac that offers perfect grip, no matter the car the muffler will "flop around" as you say... if you try to bolt it in place so that it won't "flop", then it's gonna crack after a while of doing this, as the whole motor, drive train, suspension, everything bounces up and down if you do this kind of stuff.
all we have to do now is come up with a way to charge it while driving and you have a self sustaining car no more plugging in maybe using alternators and power inverters to charge it just a thought
Tesla is the brain of the original Int'l Combustion motor, he changed the world, this is all his tech we have today, He being the real reason for so much change since 1876.
Can t wait to ear just the sound of wheels on the asphalt instead of engines roaring, we are running behind a normal evolution because some control freaks who wanted power over dirty oil .
Using your intelligence instead of your testosterone will help you to get the pussies. You will soon see that women will prefer silence and sensations instead of sensations and screams to talk ;-)
Tesla is moving in the wrong direction, if they're trying to compete with sports cars. They really should be trying to make these things for the masses. They need to be reliable, cheap, and have good performance. The batteries should be standardize so you can swap them out, instead of charging it yourself, while on the road.
@Nomoreidsleft Please do some research before you post. They are coming out with a line of cars called the model s that will be marketed to the masses and will start around $56,000
@czech27 Of course the Tesla won. In handling it may still be an inferior car. In straight speed, electric will always dominate. You get 100% instant torque. If you have ever driven an electric sports car you know that it is an almost otherworldly experience. You press the accelerator and it is like you go into warp drive. 3.5 seconds later you are 60+.
Wow, those fucker's can't corner for their life.

@tmbvd3 Apparently you know nothing about racing ...
mbdulka 4 months ago
@tmbvd3 considering that the tesla has an electric motor it doesnt need more than one gear, a car with a gas engine needs more than one gear to actually start moving then speed up..... electric doesnt need that because it will put out all its torque allowing the car to accelerate to higher speeds without needing more then one gear....giving it a transmission will one weight it down too.

@MrNo0nekares proper steering and brakes unlike the Tesla), and you'll never run out of juice, if you run out of batteries the generator kicks in to charge the batteries and run the motors. It's all for the best.
jezuz12345 6 months ago
@MrNo0nekares Cars have been like that for ages, and believe me, they don't break, especially porches (I don't like them, but it's a fact that they are sturdy). For trackday (or track morning... lol) toy the Tesla has it's uses, or as an extremely expensive town car, otherwise with the mileage you get out of a single charge, this car is a joke. There are cars like th Fisker Karma which are electric/hybrid, that are real cars with everything you'll expect in a modern luxury sports car (with

jezuz12345 6 months ago
@MrNo0nekares You obviously have no knowledge of mechanics at all... he tries to spin the whells in a bit of tamac that offers perfect grip, no matter the car the muffler will "flop around" as you say... if you try to bolt it in place so that it won't "flop", then it's gonna crack after a while of doing this, as the whole motor, drive train, suspension, everything bounces up and down if you do this kind of stuff.

are you kidding me!? advertisement in the middle of a video now!? GGAAAYY

WHICHEVER car it is it is still TESLA tech
Tesla is the brain of the original Int'l Combustion motor, he changed the world, this is all his tech we have today, He being the real reason for so much change since 1876.

Tesla is moving in the wrong direction, if they're trying to compete with sports cars. They really should be trying to make these things for the masses. They need to be reliable, cheap, and have good performance. The batteries should be standardize so you can swap them out, instead of charging it yourself, while on the road.
Nomoreidsleft 8 months ago
@Nomoreidsleft Please do some research before you post. They are coming out with a line of cars called the model s that will be marketed to the masses and will start around $56,000
fpowell94 8 months ago
who won at the end? the Tesla?
czech27 8 months ago
@czech27 Of course the Tesla won. In handling it may still be an inferior car. In straight speed, electric will always dominate. You get 100% instant torque. If you have ever driven an electric sports car you know that it is an almost otherworldly experience. You press the accelerator and it is like you go into warp drive. 3.5 seconds later you are 60+.
