I worked for the Birmingham Bulls as the teams video man. Durbano was the only player on the team that I was scared off and we had some fighters Dave Hanson, Frank Beaton, Gilles Billadeau. It was slap shot on many nights.
Hey Anberlin11, I'm a Steve Durbano fan myself. Actually, he's my childhood hero growing up and I would love to beat the living piss out of these retards who bash Steve Durbano, but don't bash us Americans, especially the ones who fought for this country. Thanks for your time and God Bless You!
First off, to all the Bettman Wanabes who are bashing the best fighter ever to play pro Hockey (Steve Durbano) please do us real hockey fans a favor and kill yourselves! Steve Durbano was not only the best fighter in Hockey who made the game exciting, but he was the best to all his fans. I had the honor of meeting Steve in Feb. 2002 after I got back from Afghanistan, and I must say, he is the coolest guy I've ever met! God Bless You Steve!
Are you related to Steve Durbano. I'm his eldest daughter, and I thank you for your kindness towards my father. Some of the responses on her break my heart.
Those are kind words towards your father? It sounds more like an irrational reaction to a harmless comment about the guy in the video. Anberlin11 you're a lowlife ingenue.
Mr. Durbano was quite the fighter and Much respect to him. He was also quite the player in his day. You Should be proud to be the daughter of such a good hockey player. Espcially one that played in the WHA.
Actually, my father was sentenced to 7 years, but never served the full time. I was born in August of 83, just before he went to jail, and wasn't even a year old when he was released. Please get your stories straight if your gonna say anything about my father.
This clown should never have been allowed onto the ice at this stage in his life.
Going full is playing the game with heart and grit, but with discipline. All your buddy wanted to do was hurt people. That is not an enforcer, that is a lunatic.
I remember that night at the Omni in Atlanta when Durbano went nuts and attacked goalie Phil Myre. After being ejected, he came running back on the ice in his socks and went after Myre again. One time at Philly Spectrum he high sticked the Flyers trainer and cut his mouth, and then Bob "The Hound" Kelly jumped off the bench and pummelled Durbano into the ice
hey anberlin11,do you really think that your threats scare me?Why do you feel the need to "beat the fucking shit out of me" just because I feel that Durbano was a disgrace to the game?Get a life asshole.
I saw Durbano charge and attack the Atlanta Flames goalie Phil Myre from behind many years ago on tv. Durbano was a vile, vulgar, cheap-shot artist and was a disgrace to hockey. Randy Holt was another goof, who hit from behind and even cracked a trainer with his stick as he skated by the bench. The WWF had nothing on these animals!
In 1983, shortly after he retired, Durbano was implicated in a scheme to import half a million dollars worth of cocaine into Canada and was sentenced to seven years in prison. After his release, Durbano still couldn't keep straight - he was arrested once for shoplifting, and once was suspected of running an escort service in Welland, Ontario. He moved to the Northwest Territories late in life in an effort to find peace, but died there of liver cancer in November of 2002.
@parkman35 Did you hear about the drink he invented?
In the 1977/78 season, the Birmingham Bulls would start games with: Gilles "Bad News" Bilodeau, Frank (Never) Beaton, Steve Durbano and Dave Hanson. Your totals for this quartet: 21 goals, 52 points, 1062 PIM.
In one game, Durbano racked up 48 minutes in penalties in TWO shifts. Beaton later had his named change to Frank (Never) Beaton (But Sometimes Jailed) when he was cuffed before a game.
The way Durbano 'took on' Bobby Hull was one of the cheapest stunts ever pulled in hockey.
Durbano was a combination cowardly goon, no-talent idiot and a troublemaker. He was the type of player fans would hope even Dave Schultz would kick the daylights out of.
I'll never forget the admirable way Jets' goaltender Gary Bromley came to Hull's rescue after that blindsiding by Durbano.
Terry Ruskowski was a very good fighter who was in a lot a good fights over the years. I loved the mayhem that came with Steve Durbano, but I still don't think I have seen footage of him actually win a fight though.

The name Steve Durbano should not be allowed in the same sentence or conversation as Bobby Hull. What a fucking loser.

@parkman35 To think, Durbano collected 1127 PIM in the WHA, plus 284 in the NHL, AND, on top of that, 1, 839, 600 minutes of jail time!

What a maniac Durbano was. Ruskowski, yes we was one tough player.

You are correct, Durbano was a coward. Lousy fighter -- and he knew it. The only way he could intimidate is to jump guys from behind or spear them.
