brings back memmories of living with my parents... when synthesis was simple... no millions of patches... you could remember what the patches were.... no computers... just an AKAI tape deck used as an echo unit... bliss... and the analogue power... you look inside these boxes.. and there is nothing there!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! I thought I was lucky getting my System 100 (101, 102, 103 and 104) in it's original boxes for $400..... but mine wasn't unopened like this one!!! That's an incredible find!!!! ....and I agree that these synths sound AMAZING. Mine is definitely NOT for sale!!
I have a clip of mine connected to my Roland V-Drums on my other channel... add this to the end of the youtube watch url.... CUaXtKuNsig
dry rot's a silly concern - but i'd get the capacitors replaced. whether it gets used or not, the electrolytic caps dry out after 30 years or so. this makes it get noisy and out of tune. you'll have to do it sometime in the next ten yrs anyways, so you might as well save the trouble of finding out the hard way.
Wow. you don't just come across an unopened sys 100. A man has to suffer an untimely death(before opening it!!!!).Then his surviving relative must die too. Fianlly, the unopened sys 100 reaches the market. Wow, fucking tragic/good for this dude
man, what a score! lucky you (or him). Looking at some of these comments though, I never realized there were so many nay-sayers and negative-people on youtube :)
Not the case here. This took place in 1999. I was out in LA a few months ago with my friend Mat (who still owns the synths) and they work like a charm. "E" for effort on the buzz-kill though.
looks pretty new to me. One thing though, probably needs a service. sitting in a hot old attic for 20 some years of unstable humidity and roaches possibly running in and out of the thing....must need an inspection at least.
Nope. In all honesty, I do not know if it is a true story. It is what the estate broker that put the item up on eBay told us and he seemed beliveable.
OMFG tell me.... what is the problem, matter or whatever of today to produce affordable monosynths whose sound grumbles FAT like this beast? all new ones I know (maybe out of the voyager or little phatty) sound chirpy chirpy cheap, but this old rolands (not moog!) have stomache...

Except that this stuff had been sitting around for 20 YEARS unopened.
Who's to say that any of it still works?
There could be so much dry rot in there that it's not worth scrapping for PARTS.
