  • Agnetha here sing like a ANGEL :D LOVELY VIDEO! MANY THANKS!!

  • The interviewer sucks real bad.

  • Frida is fox, 777!

  • I love them!-3 :)

  • What fucking host is this? Is he retarded??

  • @caravaggio31 If you don't know who Dick Cavett is, you are a moron!

  • @nmendres Well mate thats 2 morons then! - coz i aint got a clue who he is.

  • @nmendres Or a foreigner..... (what a stupid answer you did, man hehe)

  • @caravaggio31

    no he's not retarded

he's an intelligent interviewer who asks thoughtful questions and doesn't just act like a clown like some of todays talks show hosts

  • 777= sju hundra sjuttio sju in swedish

  • god dick was an asshole.

  • Frida is so sweet, and lovely. Agnetha is a little bit boring. I love Frida

  • he was say "jag vet inte" ;)))

  • 5:11 Frida is a princess!! I still don't get the joke, though.

  • so why is 777 funny?

  • @B17MIKE - sweet Frida left out part of the joke. i think is 777 swedish sailors or something.

  • Pleeeaseee someone tell me what Frida is saying at 4:16 and after that? Cause I laughed when the host said 'You should be ashamed of yourself.' :D

  • @shadowofanight She asks Dick Cavett if he knows how to say 777 in Swedish. "sju hundra och sjuttio sju"

  • Agneta!

    Just love her smiling.

  • Frida looks beautiful.

  • the host is funny

  • Simply charming.

  • hahaha there amazing!! i don't know why anyone wouldn't like them :D haha!

  • fantastic

  • the interviewer was getting a boner

  • What does Björn answer, when DC asks "what should we have to do for fun?"

  • @Lalibo I suppose, "mudwrestling". I guessed it after replaying the video for at least 10 times =)

  • @dingerable Thank you!! Yeah, now I understand it too :DD and I like Björn's humour. :)

  • @Lalibo - Mud wrestling, haha.

  • @Lalibo Mud wrestling

  • damn...they sang that song so well!!!

  • Wow Agnetha looks amazing as always............what a beautiful Angel........!

  • What a blast from the past: I remember seeing that interview in my childhood...no idea where, for in Germany we only had 3 TV stations back then. But I clearly remember them singing that song in Swedish...thanks for posting!

  • Dick Cavett does have a very ironic style of interview, but I think it shows just how intelligent Abba were ... they kept up with him and even shared jokes. Good stuff.

  • This Cavet guy is a very irritating slow intervieuwer.

  • @helthuismartin Yes, that was his style - very cerebral and complicated and drawn-out, unlike most of the talk show hosts of his day. But that's what made his show so fascinating: you got to know what celebrities really thought.

  • Cavett has a very individual interviewing style. It probably doesn't translate well for people who are not native English speakers. His comments tend to be very ironic and tongue-in-cheek. I think ABBA were great sports playing along with him and they speak English very well considering it's not their language. Find me 4 Americans who can speak Swedish -- not so easy. ;-)

  • 4 all the morons who complain about the girls' accents well, try to talk in correct swedish!

  • Frida forgot the full joke. She's so cute. <3

  • It's funny how Agnetha took her papers and didn't care aout the others.

  • whys is this interviewer so awkward. ???

  • "MUDWRESTLING!" LOL

  • por favor si alguien puede traducir al español lo que dicen lo agradeceria mucho.

Me gustaria saber que dice ABBA.-GRACIAS.-

  • how do you say seven hundred seventy seven in swedish???

  • sjuhundrasjuttisju!

  • why did mr. dick have to throw that "home on the range" cole porter cow boy crap on abba? i guess he thought that because they're scandinavians they gave a shit. lol

  • Dick Cavatt has to be the worst interviewer of all time.

  • Well he has his nervousness and excentric appearance, but he still asks interesting questions and is sort of funny

  • yes. he should have his ass fucked without lube.

  • I agree.

  • Frida is a flirt.

  • grate interview.

  • dick of a interviewer

  • they are so sweet, decent and natural people, it is a real delight to travel back in time to wwhen the charts were ruled by artists who impressed with their music and not with their ego-problems and their boldness to steal ideas. --- ABBA is probably the most underrated band ever - they are just unbelievably brillant, simply perfect both in composing as in performing!!!

  • highly underrated, populrised by the worst cover band ever.

  • they had so many no 1 singles that it seems unlikey to call them underrated, but i mean the serious music - lovers, who always thought of them as some bunch of marionettes being sold as an image, not as hard working, highly skilled musicians.

And i must admit that i was one of those, too, when i was a kid.

Anyway, they are not just professional, but also very decent, down to earth people, - a rare thing in the glam - biz

  • this vdeo is funny and COOL!

    nice one!

  • My God this is an awkward interview.

  • *haha* He can't speak swedish =) But this is really hard to say ;-)

  • its something weird i know, but something in my mind makes me guessing this guy, Dick cavett, has some level parental with George Bush.Call me a retard but thats is I think about it.

  • Hey I just figured out that it's a good thing these folks decided to use the letters of their first names to spell out the name of their group. It they had used the letters of their last names, they might have come up with somethink like AFUL.

And no, as a matter of fact, I don't have anything better to do.

  • lol..i never noticed that :)

  • I've been wondering lately what this bunch would actually sound like without the benefit of a lot of backup musicians and/or overdubbing studio tricks. Looks like I now have my answer: They sound pretty darned good!

  • It's amazing that in this entire 20+ minute interiew, with the exception of Agnetha asking Bjorn for an English word and a very brief wisecrack to her by Benny about her pants falling down, not one member of the group says a single word directly to any other member the whole time.

I wonder if Cavett had any clue at all what an awkward situation he was walking into when he booked this show.

  • Yes Alice Schwarzer is ugly with that hair!

But Agnetha still an Angel............, beautiful!

  • Is Dick Cavett high?

  • that acapella thing they did was AWESOME

  • AGREED!

  • its IS ugly, not are ugly. what language do you speak that does not differentiate between singular and plural? I am asking seriously because I am learning several language and some dont use is/are in the present tense.

  • probably swedish? lol

  • Just her hiar, when she fixed it again after this she looked HOT again.

  • WHAT?!?

  • @abbalover12 ok go smoke more crack!

  • "What shall we do now, for fun?"

    "Mudwrestling!"

  • eu amo a Agnetha ela é d++++!!!

    Muito linda!

  • I love AGNETHA

  • Frida is so beautiful here :)

  • she was always beautiful. i never understood why Agnetha got the most attention because i always thought Frida was the prettier ^_^

  • @nightwish789

i think so...Frida was prettier...but Agnetha is ARIES, she fight for be the number one....she fight for the most attention .... - look ;-)

  • @laviolette8 No I don't agree :( :(

  • @laviolette8 actually she hates attention...

  • @nightwish789 Малоли, что Вы считали. Агнета всегда была красива и артистична. Не зря пользовалась повышенным вниманием.

  • awe 1:41 to 1:47 agnetha gave hers to frida and she's all is there more? that's adorable ;;

  • I never thought that ABBA popular in the USA....

  • i agree.he was boring..duh..! good thing Frida livened up the show =) and the impromptu singing was great!

  • Agnetha!! Agnetha!! hehee

  • "What shall we do now, for fun?"

    "Mudrestling!"

  • 777!

  • omg this is the most borin interview EVER!! ABBA make it enjoyable tho, lol! thx 4 posting.

  • What a tragic waist. How often was Abba interviewed on television?

  • haha I was laughing, Agnetha was so excited when the host ask them to read the notes, and Frida was like: "just give me that", oh gosh I just love ABBA!!!Agnetha is adorable and she sang this kind of in the same note she sang "Sliping thru my fingers", amazing how high her voice can reach!!!I think it was a great idea that Frida made the guy say 777 hahaha everything that ABBA does is just so special!

  • go frida!

777 kisses from me to you ;)

  • @viciousv422 die in hell you piece of shit

  • In reference to the comment below, while "Don't Fence Me In" is very characteristic of America and the West particularly, it's not really accurate to call it a patriotic song since America is not referred to and the lyrics of the song could really be applied to anyone, anywhere.

  • ABBA cures depression, y'know.

    Or, at least, assuages it.

  • I thought it was hilarious. Their impromtu singing was very good considering they hadn't rehearsed it. Agnatha losing her drawers at 5 was cute in the preceding segment. As always, she's a doll.

  • Many times, when watching Dick Cavette inteview his guests,

it felt like I was watching a really smart high school kid who was struggling to play up the show to the rest of his schoolmates.

I would've preferred that he just concentrated on really trying to get to know his guests more than trying to go for a laugh.

Still, it was good to see an ABBA inteview.

    Oh, & Agnetha looked stunning.

  • Cavett was fine, so was ABBA, especially Agnetha and Bjorn. Awkward moments at times, but to be expected with two couples recently divorced and not speaking their native tongue. ABBA were good sports in trying the song and seemed to be having fun. DC again was looking for a comedy moment, Swedes singing about the wide open range like they were American cowboys. I've read that Bjorn was happy with their choice of Cavett as interviewer, but some unnamed objective they'd had was not achieved.

  • Go Frida! I like how she asks the Dick to say 777 - why in the world should they have to sing that American song? What does that have to do with anything.

Shooosh, how is that guy allowed to do an interview? =]

  • I love this stuff "Sjuhundra sjuttio sju"

  • Anyone notice how agnetha starts off and supported them all the way in the song

  • no, it was Frida...

  • oops, I just realized you may have been talking about the English version. In that case, it wasn't Frida ;)

  • Agneta is the only one in ABBA that can take/read notes, simple as that.

    ;)

  • exactly, but she can't write them.

  • nobody finds it strange how agnetha doesnt even look at frieda when frieda asks her for the sheet music?

  • Me thinks you have the names mixed up.

  • - Sjuhundra sjuttio sju.

    - Shrudundrasjyttisjy...?

Hehehe XD. It's always fun to hear a non-Swedish person trying to make out some of the strange sounds of the Swedish language. XD It must be kinda hard, so I can't blame them, though... (I'm a Swede myself, so I dunno, lol 8P)

  • I'm learning Swedish at the moment. It is very hard XD. But hopfully i will pick it up ^_^ could you give me some advice?

  • @nightwish789 hi there I hope it is not too late but to make the SJ sounds as well the others KJ and so on just try this, try to make the spanish sound of J at the same time you put your mouth like if you were going to say english SH sound. Hälsin.... hej då

  • this song is on an advert in the UK now - I know all the words because of this clip lol

  • This Cavett guy is just a hula hoop-eyed, chicken neck looking jive turkey. What a waste!

  • Great harmony! Abba is the best.

  • "They song in Swedish without rehearsal, an American patriotic song, which has nothing to do with them.

I think they did well, with an idiot for an interviewer, these are a band from a cultured country and did well."

That's an interesting point of view. The fact is, that's not a patriotic song, it's a cultural song. And the US does have a culture--that song is an example.

But I agree that ABBA are professionals and did a fine job singing it off the cuff.

  • They song in Swedish without rehearsal, an American patriotic song, which has nothing to do with them.

I think they did well, with an idiot for an interviewer, these are a band from a cultured country and did well.

  • sjuhundrasjuttiosju!... där fick han : )

  • I love AGNETHA!!!!!!!

  • Agnetha is the only one who can read music, shes such a talented singer songwriter.

  • yeah, that harmony SHE did was just amazing. Totally off the cuff and original to sing it copykey in a key obviously intended for a 3 year old.

  • Agnetha was the only one that could sing it in that key, Frida has a great voice but Agnetha can reach the higher notes, that this guy set it in.

  • you are wrong, a mezo soprano rich de high notes also, but with less power. But Mezo gives teh harmony because agnetha not always achive the tones

  • @emily72 if you don't think Frida can hit those notes try listening to some of her pre-abba performances. Oh yes she can!

  • Ah, if you say so then Ii don't think you like other then a fue a ABBA songs!

  • Have you ever hear the stuff Benny has put out?! I mean not being able to read or write music THAT takes talent!

  • Are you saying that benny can't write down or read the notes of his own music! Wow what a brain, remember all that!

  • Dick's greatest show was when his guest, Oscar Madison, lost his voice, and Felix Unger stole the spotlight.

  • haha, silly Frida, "It's makes for a good laugh."

  • Where did you get this?

  • This may of been a boring interview, but I did learn something new about ABBA. I think everyone was nervous or even tired. It is too bad that ABBA did not do a rendition to "Don`t Fence Me In"

I did appreciate this interview. Thank you Dick!

  • good

  • If the interview was boring it was mostly due to the guests, they had every opportunity to talk but didn't take it... Although I admit Dick didn't make much of an effort here. Watch his John Lennon or Janis Joplin interview for contrast.

  • Why does Dick Cavett ask totally homo questions? I am so bored listening to this dipshit.

  • ABBA!!! The one and only!

  • The interviewer's name says it all. What a missed opportunity. Remarkably ignorant host Cavett also shows a lack of respect for his guests. A real tosser.

  • I can say it in Swedish: 777.

  • Actually, it's "Sju hundra sjutti sjua"

  • That's what I said. 777.

  • haha, yes, numbers are a universal language, DiAnno13

  • Hence our usernames, eh angel585?

  • Sorry friend can you tell me what you mean by 777?,I know I prefer it much more than 666,LOL!.

Yes notice how in the 70's it wasn't 'cool' to admit you liked ABBA??,nowdays it's TOTALLY cool!.Abba were amazing simple as that and omg I was so in love with Frida, ahhhhhhhh!.Peace fellow fans,:)!

  • Frida asked Dick Cavette if he can say seven hundred and seventy seven (777) in Swedish and so he said no and she told him it was Sju hundra sjutti sjua (777 in Swedish) and he couldnt pronounce it and I was laughing so hard I almost fell over and I apologize for saying and so much and not using proper punctuatuation but I have to keep in the laughter somehow!!

    (*inhales deeply*) (*exhales*)

By the way, 666 is the devil's number.

  • Actually 666 is the number of his name.

Did ABBA ever go on any talk shows that had good interviewers?

  • Brilliant! I haven't seen this since 1981!!!! Agnetha is very open.

  • I thought Abba fans were just a little more cultured and decent than this. Some of your comments above are not appropriate, have a little class ppl, even if Dick is a bit of an amatuer interviewer.

  • Except that he's not supposed to be an amateur; he's supposed to be a professional. He'd been interviewing people for more than a decade at this point... although I don't know how he lasted that long. We cultured, decent Abba fans deserved better.

  • Who is this lugubrious prat??

  • I think the singing was nice to watch in the end - they were able to harmonize. (Otherwise the interview was rather pitty spent time of band ABBA).

  • but he has a huge cock

  • ABBA is great but Dick Cavett is such an idiot. There are so many good questions he could have asked during the interview. He is so inept.

  • Loooooooooove ABBA

  • guy rellay funny great dick show brillant video virgsa thanks for that

  • This gezzer is a ARSEHOLE
