"124 below zero"?? dude, i cant even imagine being in that. Tough people there, im sure.
@ 2:50 when the children are demonstrating the dances, great to see young people involved with their heritage. Amazing what one can learn from his/her elders.
Sorry but that's incorrect. -40 is where the two measurements meet and are the same temperature. Anything below -40 and the temperature in Fahrenheit will be a lower number that in Celcius. The formulas to convert between the measurements are:
C = (F-32)*5/9, and F= C*9/5+32
Actually that would make -124F approximately -86C, which is well below the lowest official temperature ever recorded in the northern hemisphere, of -71.2C in Oymyakon, Russia. (According to wikipedia)
Oops, my bad, after using the conversion formula, I discovered that is where the two meet and is equal. Anyway, I would still love to visit Barrow and meet these beautiful people who work very hard to keep what they have! Congrats on the return of the SUN!! :)
ohh I was on a similar tour, I remember that guy's voice. didn't watch the dancing show tho. it went there in march 2008. it was pretty cold then, i have to admit. I walked and snowmobiled down the Arctic Ocean.
very cool video thats one place i want to spend one winter in. -124 thats crazy. but i would love it i live in Colorado and it gets around -30 in the winter. its true heaven is on earth!!!
Yeah, I can believe it got down to -124 with the wind chill factor, but the actual temperature doesn't get all that cold, their coldest recorded actual temperature was -56. It has gotten colder than that in Ely, Minnesota and many parts of Canada.
@JoeNJ1 Joe, if you are from jersey, why compare it to Philly? One of the folks who left Philly only to realize you want to come back "home" and can't afford it now? Trust me, this is probably a nice place to visit but not "better then Philly". Your comment stinks of bitterness. Bridesburg/Port Richmond/Fishtown/Kensington for Life!
@ReganMarcelis They want to come back cause they're pathetic inbreds who can't handle it anywhere else. Your comment stinks of ignorance,quit following my posts.

I assume he means -124F, not -124C. ;-)
What was the temperature the day this was recorded? How long did you stay?
Conway79 2 years ago
After -45 below, all degrees are the same Fahrenheit and Celsius.

That was eight years ago. I can't remember. I booked the tour through Alaska Airlines. You might check their web site, if they are still doing it.
