If these girls and dudes used the same amount of effort into their costumes and makeup and applied it into their lifestyles, maybe they can gain the chances. The people in the clip suggests that it's their level of interests into their genre that turns people off, but really, it's not. Conventions are now a trend. It's the first impressions, and if they look less than mediocore in person without the costumes and makeup, you won't grab anyone's attention.

Awww....I think this is cute! I am a geek and so is my husband! We met at the midnight launch party of Grand Theft Auto IV and are now happily married with one kid and one on the way. We may be nerdy, spend Sunday afternoon playing video games instead of watching "the game" and prefer to watch Firefly re-runs than watch a modern day sit-com, but we are happy. It was our dorky common interests that brought us together, and have kept our relationship strong.

The problem with this is that geek guys have unrealistic expectations of geek girls. It's like, they're allowed to be fat, awkward, and anti-social... but they want a perfectly toned slave Leia who is tall, thin, gorgeous and is a little nerdy, but not too nerdy because then they seem smarter.
