I was in that area that day. I went along to have a look at what was going on. I know that it was organised by the same crowd who used to organise the Reclaim The Streets parties back in the late 1990s and later the Mayday anti-capitalist days of action.

its only one bank and a few protestors out of thousands. RBS was the only bank on the street that was not boarded up. the police were standing a few metres away not bothering to stop any of the 'action'. journalists were goading protesters telling them to smash it.

bottom line - the RBS 'storming' was set up in order to discredit the protests. the media played along because violence and sensationalism sells.

the media is only showing one side, its just spin. there was loads of peaceful protesting, including one where a couple of hundred people sat down in front of the riot police, and lots of just happy dancing and music :)
