@TCarpSkates Skating with long hair sucks. Been there... done that. To be honest I don't even know why I liked having long hair. I always had nasty, sweaty, dirty hair in my eyes and ears. It's not like I was rebelling against anything, because my parents didn't care. I find that keeping it buzzed is a lot more skate friendly, and I can use the money I save on haircuts to put gas in my tank and skate more.

Most of those early videos got deleted for one reason or another, so there aren't a whole lot of examples of what I'm talking about left out there. You've definitely got a point about how you carry yourself though. If you look like you respect yourself people are more likely to respect you as well. If you look like a kid people are going to treat you like a kid. A little maturity goes a long way.

He woke up early so that he could bathe with his pants on and then dry them while they were still on him. By second period they had cut off circulation so bad that he couldn't walk and nearly passed out before they could get them off of him.

Anyway, I occasionally wear jeans that are a bit slimmer than normal. They're comfortable as fuck, keep my leg muscles warmer, and sometimes easier to skate in because there's not a load of extra material flapping around-you can see the board clearly.

I agree. I get that emulation of pro clothing styles has been apparent forever, but there's a a reason why the Mcsqueeb hairdo is no longer cool. Obviously what you wear says nothing about how, or even if you skate, but if we are to remain outside the conformism I think its important to have a unique outlook toward things. Ones wardrobe choices can be taken into account.

Seriously though... clothes that fit are the way to go. When I bag on skinnies people always try to make it out like I wear hammer pants, but no, there's definitely a happy medium. My jeans are a little baggier than the standard fit, but since I moved to khakis I pretty much wear my size and my size only. I don't pinch my nuts when I move, and my pants don't fall down. It works.
i buy the skinny style jeans however i get them 3 or 4 sizez bigger so they arent tight on me and i just wear a belt because normal jeans look weird on me and i can skate shorts other wise my legs get torn up ... ohh and i wear t-shirts that arent 800 sizes to big
@SN1P3RBA1T97 I used to have long hair, but as you can see it's short now, and I'll never go back. First of all, I looked like a preteen when I was 18. Second, it's much easier to take care of, and I just use clippers to buzz it, so haircuts are free.

@maryuby I can't skate it basketball shorts. Khaki shorts... no problem... basketball shorts just feel funny to me. They don't provide any protection either, so that's a major strike against them for me. I always land on my hip so I've got to have at least a little something between me and the pavement.

They wear skin tight jeans because they think that's the skateboarding uniform. People need to realize that there ISN'T a uniform. You don't have to look a certain way, and you don't need to conform to what the other skaters are doing to fit in, because it's skating and individuality is welcome.

It makes them look like something... but it's just about the opposite of tough.

I agree. I get that emulation of pro clothing styles has been apparent forever, but there's a a reason why the Mcsqueeb hairdo is no longer cool. Obviously what you wear says nothing about how, or even if you skate, but if we are to remain outside the conformism I think its important to have a unique outlook toward things. Ones wardrobe choices can be taken into account.

Seriously though... clothes that fit are the way to go. When I bag on skinnies people always try to make it out like I wear hammer pants, but no, there's definitely a happy medium. My jeans are a little baggier than the standard fit, but since I moved to khakis I pretty much wear my size and my size only. I don't pinch my nuts when I move, and my pants don't fall down. It works.
