Wipeout XL Playstation Opening & Gameplay

I have the game and it isn't bad. What I don't understand is how the game was able to hold its rating in the high 8s like what you see in this version in GameSpot and IGN, even though you do fly through the course textures if you fly too fast, there wouldn't be enough laps and you only have five ships to choose.

You can get the full soundtrack. It was released here in the UK on CD at the same time as the game. Look on eBay for "Wipeout 2097" - the name the game was released as in Europe.

Quite possibly the finest game ever made. The XL title blows though.

The game only really worked though with Tin There by Underworld playing. So fast, it made the Phantom class feel like you were really there. Stunning stuff.

What made me love this game was the futuristic sponsorship designs. the game is really ALL about them. really immerses you in the environment. i wish it could have been a little dirtier like the first game but nonetheless the best in the series. made me a lifetime fan of Designers Republic. I love my DR!

XL is the second game in the series. It was released on 11/01/96. Easily the best Wipeout and it had a spetacular soundtrack by taking advantage of a fair amount of the top electronic music hits at the time. Just the overal feel of the game play and the fact it takes awhile to get tired of playing the game still draws people to continue playing it.

Wipeout3 ditched the gritty look that made WipeoutXL/2097 so awesome.
