  • Quite simply the best interpretation I have heard of this Sonata. Portrays Schubert as a passionate creative spirit simultaneously at the peak of his compositional powers and at the edge of early death. I never thought of the last movement's main theme as a kind of question/argument with it's key signature. Inspirational.

  • Haskil understood foreground is fore and had the technique to do it. Y . one won't agree when they' ve heard clara! Expect beter from Y . but it is not here!

  • this is so much refreshing to hear. comes back to great times of viennese spirit in music which was completely destroyed in 1938 and never could come back....

  • I have to agree with eliasbb! I listened to about thirty seconds of it and I had a big smile on my face. Wonderful!

  • the first true instance of laughter i have heard in a piano performance. it makes so much sense, scherzo does mean joke.

  • unbelieveable...unconventional and fresh
