They aren't going to use the minwin kernel in Windows 7. If you want Minwin, use

Windows Server 2007, that's MinWin.

Windows Se7en will be to Windows Vista what Windows 98 was to Windows 95. Visually, they will be very similar, but a heck of a lot easier to use and with fewer bugs.

I have windows 7 beta and it runs on my old pc (amd athlon +2500 with 1 gb of ram) It runs smootly.

They simply changed the name and the whole UI and living experience because some twisted person decided to do that. I would have been fine with the name Windows Longhorn. Oh well. Hopefully Windows Seven will be a whole lit better.
