  • thumbs up for aerodynamics on 1:13

  • thanks, now I know a better use for my 45

  • Sniper pistol FTW

  • thumbs up if you think Slow Mo Guys are way awsomer!

  • @stealmetal8 The Slowmoguys do only slowmo (obviously), when Destin can do pretty much anything. There's no "worse" or "better" etc., they just do different things.

  • WOOOOW!

you just lit a match wiith a bullet.

so whats up with the music man jeez

  • rednecks in the making :)

  • Redstone Repeaters!!!

  • Stay strong litttle match.

  • Ur Like Cavemen...

  • you should use tracer.....

  • whats the song called when you do it

  • Thumbs up for Aerodynamics and Thermodynamics!!!!

  • this is what you do with out of date books when you're done with college

  • The books used to hold the matches up were very appropriate for this video.

  • morrr high speed

  • Use a faster/larger bullet and you can get all of the match heads.

  • i use my physics books in the same way, not for lerning but for stacking things on top!

  • suckaaaa the slow mo guys are way better

  • you guys tryin to save match boxes?

  • hey, you know. I wonder about the cavemans reaction when he INVENTED fire

  • well, only way to do this right.....BARRETT 50. CAL BIATCH!

  • red eyes, coughing, sitting in your basment shooting a .22. hmmm.

  • The books below the matches kinda work with what their doing...

  • Shooting aside you picked some good music. Love the guitar track.

  • I like the choice of books used to hold up the matches

  • should have used tracers at would have worked

  • SLOW-MO!!!!

  • @destinws2 What if you put the matches slightly higher each row?

  • Search:

Mythbusters Season 7 Episode 23. Mini myth mayhem Part 1 of 5

    3:49

  • Great job!

    Love your videos.

  • The most efficient way to start a fire!

  • how much ammo did you guys go through?

  • Comment removed

  • Did he choose the books aerodynamics and thermodynamics to make us think he's smart?

  • Many a brave match died this day...

  • achievement unlocked!

  • All those matches just standing in line waiting to be shot.lol

  • strike anywhere matches

  • Good work guys!

  • 2:15 THAT is a true man moment

  • @BlaggerDagger WE HAVE DONE IT!

  • now thats what i call FIREpower

    thumb so he sees

  • @thecondiffs no faggot

  • @MUJAHID56787 haha lol

  • @iModifYouri lol, a bit harsh.

  • ive been trying to do this with my pellet gun it is quite hard

  • now can you do it without the bench rest. lol

  • I WANA SEE IT ON SLOW MO!!!!

  • Your friend John Henry is sexy !!(x

  • You should hook up with theslowmoguys. It'd be a pretty amazing video.

  • ok so which type of .22 bullet had the winning shot?

  • i bet you could light all the matches if you got a more powerful gun like a 22. magnum or a 22. hornet or a 17. long rifle.

  • @destinws2 did they try this in mythbusters? if so, which episode?

  • Get the wax off the bullets, then rough up the contact area.

  • So. Damn. Epic!

  • thumbs up if you noticed the thermodynamics book xD

  • Comment removed

  • BOSTON!

  • We have made FIRE! With GUN!

  • I feel really uncomfortable about being at this end of a weapon...

  • ive lit a match with a 22 shot

  • Or you take a lighter =D

  • 3:17 teleporting fire!

  • I want this video on my 8910 unit.

  • They should have tried staggering the matches

They might have been able to light all of them

  • .50 incendiary round?

  • When striking the box is too difficult. =D

  • haha.....epic music.....

  • One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind! Seriously though- this is kind of impressive.

  • This puts a whole new meaning to discovering fire. :D (cavemen.)

  • I appreciate your book selections for this experiment.

  • Looks like that match...

    *puts on sunglasses*

    Got fired.

    YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAH!

  • Myth Busters got pwnd

  • You have my son's name I glad young men are having safe fun and using head's now find away safe to this country to do what like do and get your guns to crazy safe fun

  • You guys are cool, did a good job on the homemade gun vice too!

  • Yeah... the Mythbusters did this already... and it only took them 9 shots. Try again guys.

  • Nice Books

  • ok i havent ever shot a gun but is it supposed to sound like a pellet gun?

  • @MrSkyrim111111 the decibal level if probably overloading the teeny tiny mic on their camera, so all you hear is the initial pop.

  • You can tell these guys are smart. I mean who uses an aerodynamics textbook and a thermodynamics textbook to hold something up who isn't a genius?

  • I noticed that you are inside, But what are you shooting the rounds into that made it safe to shoot indoors?

  • @Jiakurai If you look closely you can see the backing is a great big plastic tub, Presumable filled with sand since I don't see it springing leaks every time they fire. Filling the tub with any number of substances would make it a good bullet catcher.

  • Nice channel! Check mine out too if you want to. CoD and other videos :D

  • Your video is a favorite on Lebanon

  • use a bigger gun, might keep going straight after hitting first match

  • so you have the gun in a fixture but the matches are not????

    Why?

might save a bunch of time if you did.

  • Are you seriously firing live ammunition in your garage?

  • Wouldn't want you lighting my birthday cake, no offence :L

  • i have reached the conclusion that the matched should have been positioned from shortest to the tallest, the difference between them being only so slight.

  • 38 people dont own sniper rifles.

  • @brightsparky100 1 person remembers when those jokes were funny... :/

  • I smell an idea for a scene in some massively cheesy action flick.

  • @Stonemeister believe me it has already happened in India, where they are leaders in making movies which are massively over the top.

  • @Stonemeister 4 guys simultaneously ask a guy with a gun for a light?

  • love the books you put under it

  • you have to use the strike anywhere matches

  • 2:26 the usefullness of thermo and aero dynamics

  • 2:18 this is 2012, not 50,000BC.

    it's just fire :D

  • @burningsponge I think they proved something that The Mythbusters couldn't do.

  • A larger caliber bullet would not deflect so much, but you will shoot up your lab. Maybe try it at a shooting range.

  • I also thought that the books the matches were on being "Aerodynamics" and "Thermodynamics" was the funniest thing I have seen in some time. Very clever guys!

  • 2:29 As he says " that is happenin' right now" it goes out. still a cool vid

  • how are you shooting that without putting a hole in your wall????

  • Comment removed

  • hmm do you think lighting matches on a block of woood is smart

  • destin ive watched all of ure vids your daughter is adorable

  • DO THIS IN SLOMO !!

  • Comment removed

  • sk8teboy860 here on my sses profile and my great grandpa had a crippled hand and he could ligt a match with a 22 no scope from 50 yards away

  • @TheKenziesings22 yea, sure

  • I know you may have answered this before but what do you use as a back stop?

  • 2:50 that dosnt look like a safe view

  • Why not put them closer together? That way if the bullet lights one match it will spread to the others.

  • its real they tested it on mythbusters

  • Comment removed

  • give it time, those wannabes at mythbusters will try, fail and claim this vid is a fake.

  • @74KU you idiot. The people at Mythbusters are probably smarter than you will ever be. they know what they are talking about, just like the people who made this video. Mythbusters dumb down there knowledge for the average people, not because your smarter than them. also I think you'll find they did this aswell, and proved the myth true.

  • @74KU: so you are for this vid is real, right? lol cuz it is, but of course, mythbusters is going to try...and fail...and what you said.

  • now try a 9mm.

  • books are "Aerodynamics" and "Thermodynamics"

  • -They ate breakfast as nobody's, walked down to the basement, returned upstairs and ate dinner as heroes!-

  • Aerodynamics and Thermodynamics books good man, good man

  • LOL i loved when they lit the match the screamed so hard!

  • Or.. you could just strike the match on the side of the box.

  • RED SOX LETS GO!!!!! destin ur a red sox man

  • What if you kinda rub the bullets slightly in sandpaper? I've never touched a bullet but it looks kinda smooth, or is it? If the surface of the thing is rough and you manage a hit where the bullet only caresses the matches then maybe it would reduce the deflection and light even more matches I guess.

  • The mythbusters didn't put the matches on top of an Aerodynamics books that's on top of Thermodynamics book. That's why theirs didn't work!

  • the coolest way to light a birthday candle

  • i see what you did with the textbooks

  • mythbusters MUST up this!

  • ok so if you tilted every other one can you still light it up with 1 bullet going between them?

  • What if you use a larger caliber or higher grain bullet, do you think it would react less to the deflection? Maybe .308 or 30-06 heck why not try 50 bmg you should contact FPSRussia!

  • Myth confirmed

  • I love that the success was grounded on both Aerodynamics and Thermodynamics.

  • As soon as I saw the flame I was like "Fuck Yeah!"

  • lol cool but can u say " Im a redneck?? " lolol

  • why dont u just use the thing on the side of the match box instead of going tru all this...........

  • Hey! Love the video and the channel! Have you considered trying a heavier caliber? The .22 is (obviously) super light and apparently prone to waver even with match heads. If you were to shoot a bunch of match heads at close distance with say... a 30-06, would it be going too fast to light the matches? I imagine you were using .22's because they're cheaper, but theoretically, would a faster, heavier bullet be more effective at lighting more matches? Something to think about...

  • When after they were lighting the matches a couple times an ad played that said, "Congratulations you won!" XD

  • ive done this with iron sights ill see if i can post a video

  • Amazing steady aim shot from the amazing distance of... 1 and a half feet!

  • if u like this check out the slo mo guys theyre awesome!!!!!!!!

  • fake

  • sweet XD

  • And the camera isnt recording,,, :P

  • awesome video guys true americans!

  • What's mind boggling to me is how there is enough friction to light any of the matches! that's really cool. I thought the matches needed more impulse to ignite since the bullet is going so fast.

  • If you can't light a row of matches because the bullet deflects ever so slightly each time it hits a match, why not line them up but every match is a tiny bit higher than the one before, therefor the bullet would be deflected into the next match and so on.

  • three and a half? O_O

  • THAT GUY HAS A FEE SHIRT ON!! :D I loveee Fee. :D Yayyyy. :D

  • Hey destwin, i'm a big fan. Is this fake or not?

  • @FradisAlexPro

    100% real

  • @destinws2 Oh cool! How did the fish catch it? Did you aim at the mouth or something?

  • @FradisAlexPro yea it real mythbusters tested it sorry for spelling

  • HAHAHAHA the music at 2:30 made me laugh so hard

  • they've already done it in mythbusters...

  • were those just your everyday stike anywhere matches? i got to try that!!

  • bitch please!!!!!!! XD

  • try shooting it on the side of the matches

  • whats the music at 3:16

  • in a zombie apocalypse i would wanna be at your house

  • Hmmmm, I see the copy of Anderson Fundamentals of Aero. That plus the UAH shirt from another video explains a lot. Proceed, and keep up the good work! I had no idea you were around that area, some Guidance buddies of mine at Marshall watched your chicken-IMU vid years ago. There were drunken jokes about Chicken-guided Ballistic Missiles (CGBM's). And one of my spacecraft needs a better gyro/stellar reference. Can a chicken survive an 18 month mission? Be safe and have fun.

  • The bullet trajectory is nonlinear. If I moved the matches up a little bit every time, that would indicate a linear slope. We tried that but it didn't work because the amount of bullet deflection is random after striking each bullet.

  • @destinws2 hey destinws2 i was thinking glass filled with water and an water balloon in the glass in the water then shoot it both together and see what happens in slowmo

  • @destinws2 So it basically doesn't matter if the bullet trajectory is linear or nonlinear, it will always be deflected so the inflammation of all matches (linear or not) is impossible ?

  • So why not line up the matches in a line but with each new match slightly higher up than the one before it, so that when the bullet alters trajectory it will still hit them? :)

  • @jonsharpe86

Because it's nonlinear. You are describing a linear system.
