Felton was the best Knicks PG in the last decade. Better than Charlie Ward, Chris Childs, Stephon Marbury, Chris Duhon, and—yes—even Jeremy Lin. He brings so much energy and flow to the offense, can shoot, and can penetrate. If Carmelo comes back and it doesn't work out, they should find a way to get Felton, Chandler, and Gallinari back. The Knicks would be unstoppable with this incredible offense, and their newly developed defense.

@cibida1 that's what delusional knick fans deserve, to stay on the bottom of the eastern conference where they belong, Nets will take over NY soon just wait.
@knicksandgiants You are overrated if you were ranked the 3rd best team in the Eastern Conference by espn, nba and all you're delusional fans believed them and if we suck what's that make you guys we beat u rofl umad?
@TheRaptorRapture but we r still better than u, the cavs beat the lakers last year, were they better than them? didnt think so , so stfu,,, o yea, umad?
@cudster534 yeah thats true but you have to admit, felton and amare were beast together. well hopefully baron davis is healthly and committed for the knicks
Imagine what the Knicks couldve been like if melo waited until free agency. Chandler and gilinari, Felton a beast (avg 17 ppg and 8 apg) fields, Douglas, and the picks they have know. Oh well, I'm sure Knicks will be great this season though
@knicksandgiants I"m not a knicks fan, but that was a horrible trade for the Knicks. Trading away almost 3/4's of their team to get Carmelo and Billups. Caused more harm than good for the Knicks.
The Knicks, PRIOR to the Carmelo trade actually was very strong and could've made it past the second round possibly. That team actually had defense...
@knicksandgiants I personally do not have a favorite team. I like individual players on different teams. The only team that I would support would be the New Jersey Nets because I live in New Jersey and i've always watched their games. Although they suck, I still cheer them on.
But again, I don't have a specific team I like, I just support different players and like different players.
@hcrtoothy I'm not a fan of Melo, but when you can land a superstar, you make it happen. It's much, much easier to put the supporting cast together than it is land a franchise player. Also, both Knicks teams, pre-melo and post-melo were were really about the same record wise. The Knicks have something to build around now, let's see what happens.
@nycsultan1 No. It isn't at all. Look at Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic. You have the best Center in the league and yet, they couldn't even put together a proper supporting cast. They only made it to the Finals once and after that, just sucked horribly. No it wasn't at all. Pre-Melo was a lot better than Post-Melo. Just look at the record that NYK had before Melo came along.
They had Amar'e to build around, and they did a REALLY good job. All they needed was team chemistry and done
@Patrock96 J-Lin has always had this talent but the teams just never took the opportunity to let him show it. It's honestly just sad how the Rockets and Warriors didn't even give him a chance.
I'm proud to say that at least it was in New York. As much as I hate the Knicks because they are just so bad all the time, I'm only proud of him making his breakthrough performance to prove everyone wrong in a stadium with a HUGE amount of people.
@hcrtoothy The Knicks prior the trade was only 28-26. They were NOT that great. I'm sick of everyone saying that trade messed them up because it didn't.
@knicksandgiants Felton and Amar'e were like Starks and Ewing. Was a good time for the Knicks. They were 1 player away from being elite. If Chandler was a Knick at the beginning of the year last year, WOW.
@TheHoops323 Oh course "insane". If you watched the whole game then you would know that this was actually a huge comeback. If memory serves me, they were down by 13-15 points in the mid 3rd quarter. Had a huge scoring run towards the end.
I hate the direction the league is going with these teaming up bullshit. Now CP and Deron Williams want to play with Dwight. Everyone wants to be on the same team. Dallas showed that with one superstar, a defensive anchor and dedicated role players, you will win a ring. And I stand by that, the knicks before the Melo trade coulda won a ring if they filled the gaps they were missing. I feel really bad for Gallo, Ray and Wil. They played their hardest in NY just to be baits for Melo.
@AJVersatility19 No one loved Gallo as much as I did. Underrated defender, good passer, great outside shooter and very nifty all-around player with a ceiling to become a franchise player, though his mid-range game was suspect. Raymond, to me, is a second-tier PG. Very good player. Tough and talented. Wilson Chandler was a good defender and coming into his own. Mozgov was becoming a better offensive player and coming into his own on a defense.
@AJVersatility19 BUT, not close to winning a championship. I wish I could say it was enough. I wish we didn't need Melo and other superstars, but come playoff time, it's a different story. Knicks fans have been so starved of good basketball play that they would just settle for a one-and-out team, which was what the knicks were without Melo. yes... yes... we we're a one and out team this past season with Melo, but consider the injuries and the fact that the trade occurred
@Harker911 halfway thru the season. It was the same argument for crawford and Randolph... Not... Goood. Enough in the playoffs. You can't have Amar'e take on almost everything... I think a lot of Knick fans forget how how and COLD--emphasis on COLD-- they were with that team. With Melo, Amar'e Billups or a different PG (don't think chris or deron is coming), you can build a team now with a legit Center and a good PG and a solid shooter. This team, if built correctly, has greater
@Harker911 potential than one with gallo, wilson, ray, and mozgov... that roster is just not going to fly against playoff teams. I'm sorry. You need to be able to have guys who can at the very least neutralize stars. Dallas won for a variety of reasons, and one of the major reasons was because they had a lot of talent. Lots of talent. Maybe not superstars, but the right players at the right positions. Knicks didn't have that. Watch Miami destroy Dallas this coming year.
@Harker911 You talk about Dallas like it took them 3 years to build that team. Those guys have been together forever, and one addition was the one thing they needed that pushed them over the edge. Of course Miami will destroy Dallas. Miami is going to gain free agents, while Dallas is going to lose them.
@Harker911 What we had in NY was a foundation. You can't tell me that from that one season, in which half of that foundation didn't even have a chance to show their playoff play, you were able to deduce that that team was a waste. They never even had a chance. They has promise. Idk what the NBA has done to you and other. But it takes a loooong time to win. And all this win now mentality is going to backfire on many teams.
@Harker911 Even with the Russell Westbrook playoff talk, how bad he was, OKC is NOT getting rid of him. It's obvious him and Durant can't play together, but the team is willing to wait a while more. I bet you'd get rid of Russel Westbrook for CP in a minute if a surething like CP was coming. But OKC said NO to NO. They're going to stick with that team for a long time and watch them win before any of the other teams.
@Harker911 Not shit they were no close to a championship. Lol how quick do u think it takes to build one? 5 years? I think 5 is a minimum. What's with all this win-now mentality that teams have nowadays. I've waited a long time too. Just like any other. And I know it takes a long time to build a contender, we were just STARTING last season. And then they broke it up without giving it a chance.
@AJVersatility19 Well, I mean you're talk about the Knicks. Last time we were good was 1999, I think. So you have to consider this long drought. There's more certainty now--not saying a guarantee-- in winning. If they had not gone the way of sign-and-trades, you would have had to draft. Remember: mediocrity or just pretty good is the worst thing you can be in sports. so-so draft spots. And even if you do get lucky, you gotta wait much longer than 5 years to see if it pans out.
@Harker911 Yes I'm talking about the Knicks who haven't won since 72. like 30 years before i was born. Again, the team we had was new young. What retard expected them to win in 5 years? I didn't. Amare woulda been at least 31-32 when they began making noise. And i'd be fine with that. The new developed players would anchor them. But of course we'll never know now. No one has faith unless you have 3 HOF on your team
@Harker911 And idk if u heard, but the Knicks are thinking of Amnesty-ing Billups. Sign Tyson Chandler for 15mil per year and trade Amare for CP. Signing Chandler would make CP happy to play with him again. Besides the obvious bull of offering a 15mil for Tyson, but trading Amare? That's our entire line-up from last year gone, baited for superstars. If Amare gets traded. I'm going to stop being a Knicks fan, This is bullshit.
@Mattmsk005 ESPN, so yes, pretty much idiots. Yesterday the Knicks said that regardless of all these talks. Amar'e is not on the block. And they just confirmed with Tyson on a wack as contract. But whatever, i like what he brings. And i feel sorry for Chauncey. He's gonna retire.
@AJVersatility19 Also, you have to remember a lot of people's jobs are on the line, especially in New York. They will do anything to keep their job. And with a moron like Dolan, who knows what he might do.
Nice to hear the Garden be loud again, but it sucks because of the Lockout. Man I miss those good old days when the Heat and the Knicks use to go at it.
@Squadin2011 I agree with that, but the Knicks should have waited until Carmelo Anthony became a free agent. They knew he wanted to come to New York, yet they traded away KEY PIECES and potential trading chips for Melo and Billups. Denver is the immediate winner, but you are correct the Knicks win in the long run.
@ZakumX Alright, now tell me this... Raymond Felton went to Portland and Wilson Chandler went to China. That leaves Mozgov (who's contract is up this season) and Gallo. Now you tell me who's the clear winner.
@HoodStyles2 The Knicks are the long-term winners but Denver will a least have soem young players/potential trading pieces. Nene and another guy from Denver are both free agents but they still have some players left.
@HoodStyles2 Regardless of what Denver ended up losing, that doesn't take away from what WE lost. Just because they lost their players doesn't mean we gained ours. It just means they ended up worse than us. With Raymond on the team, and Stat, we did NOT need Melo. We needed a big man. Just like this season we do NOT need Chris Paul, we need a big man, it seems like nobody cares about what the Knicks' actual problem is. This trade fucked us up and we got ways to go from here.
@AJVersatility19 We need a LOT more than just a big man. We also drafted Jerome Jordan and Josh Harrellson, and Donnie Walsh is reportedly grabbing Jeff Foster, so that solves that. We need depth. We need a backup PF and SF to come off the bench and help keep the scoring going, we need, a backup SG to ease the load off of Landry too. I see Andy Rautins getting some minutes because of how well he played this summer. I also see Grunwald picking up JJ Barea, Shawne Williams and Kenyon Martin
@NothingSkeleton only had 20 sumthin games with the knicks. they needed time to gel with each other. The heats struggled in the beggining of the season . and they are good now cus they built chemistry . thats all the knicks need to do now and we will be top 3 in the east 2011-2012
@NothingSkeleton Knicks are not better without Melo The first New york team went to tranning camp together had good Chemistry Melo came in mid Feburary if Melo started since Traning camp with dat team we would be a 50+ win team
@DRAMAKIN9 The players we had before the trade played with hustle and heart. Melo literally brings zero on the defensive end. Unlike Galo and Wil who were pretty darn good defensive players. Mozgov might not have been Dwight Howard, but he had promise. I don't see why everyone's so hyped up about Melo, he's been the exact same player the last 7 years. Wtf are we really looking at? I liked the team before the trade. But ever since Boston and Miami everyone feels like we NEED 3 superstars to win.
i remeber being at this game.... the heat should have destroyed us but couldnt knock down shots... neither team played good defense... it was just shitty offense
@BryceFairclough I was at this game so I would know, especially when I was 2 or 3 rows behind her. Plus Jessica Alba would rather be at Laker games than Knicks games.

@ZakumX Alright, now tell me this... Raymond Felton went to Portland and Wilson Chandler went to China. That leaves Mozgov (who's contract is up this season) and Gallo. Now you tell me who's the clear winner.
HoodStyles2 2 months ago
@HoodStyles2 The Knicks are the long-term winners but Denver will a least have soem young players/potential trading pieces. Nene and another guy from Denver are both free agents but they still have some players left.
ZakumX 2 months ago
@HoodStyles2 Regardless of what Denver ended up losing, that doesn't take away from what WE lost. Just because they lost their players doesn't mean we gained ours. It just means they ended up worse than us. With Raymond on the team, and Stat, we did NOT need Melo. We needed a big man. Just like this season we do NOT need Chris Paul, we need a big man, it seems like nobody cares about what the Knicks' actual problem is. This trade fucked us up and we got ways to go from here.
AJVersatility19 2 months ago
@AJVersatility19 We need a LOT more than just a big man. We also drafted Jerome Jordan and Josh Harrellson, and Donnie Walsh is reportedly grabbing Jeff Foster, so that solves that. We need depth. We need a backup PF and SF to come off the bench and help keep the scoring going, we need, a backup SG to ease the load off of Landry too. I see Andy Rautins getting some minutes because of how well he played this summer. I also see Grunwald picking up JJ Barea, Shawne Williams and Kenyon Martin

Knicks are better with Melo when it comes to close games, but for a long-run they need a defensive presence and Melo is not that guy.

DRAMAKIN9 3 months ago
@DRAMAKIN9 The players we had before the trade played with hustle and heart. Melo literally brings zero on the defensive end. Unlike Galo and Wil who were pretty darn good defensive players. Mozgov might not have been Dwight Howard, but he had promise. I don't see why everyone's so hyped up about Melo, he's been the exact same player the last 7 years. Wtf are we really looking at? I liked the team before the trade. But ever since Boston and Miami everyone feels like we NEED 3 superstars to win.
