  • wich trigger are you using?

  • @huachoprowarlord

In this video the more expensive Ddrum ones, not the red shots, can't remember what they're called, pro acoustics or something, sold them and have had Ekits for quite a while now.

  • tight :D

  • Really cool!

  • Nice blast, its a perfect roll.

  • Wow, very clear and concise drumming.

  • A COMPLETE DRUMSET FOR NOTHING...WAT A WASTE

  • Better to get it down slow first..If not, you'll have to pay for it later. I started off on Iron Maiden and within a month I was learning Dream Theater and Slayer.. I mean, I had to pay for it later by cleaning up my playing, so better to learn slower, better off in the long run for tight playing.

  • LOL who's criticising the player? Are you retarded? Yeah it's not at full pace, but don't waste your time hacking on him because he hasn't completed his journey as a speed player. Word of the wise - there are only 2-3 fast metal drummers in the world playing this kind of music who don't have dayjobs. Even George Kollias. It's a hobby, children. Treat it as such.

Great video. You're tight and have good power. You'll get to the full speed and if you don't, you'll probably sell more albums anyway

  • @Xplora213

Thanks for the comment and thanks for having a brain :)

  • good job

  • Fucking well done, don't let these lame fuck youtube thugs discourage you, they see a lower bpm video and think "oh its not good!" Stupid ignorant motherfuckers, keep it up dude, killer and SOLID drumming.

  • not the best

  • @blackseedsofvengance You're a pussy youtube gangster... shut the fuck up... this guy drums better than any shit you could put out, I'm certain.

  • @leanfiend444 haha im a gangster? I not saying this guy is horrible im just saying its not the best. If he worked more on it he'd probably nail it or perhaps play the whole thing.

  • true but i think you should push it like 10 bpm faster every once in a while so you can acually achieve the proper tempo.

  • @doublebassrox

Which is what I do, step it up in little amounts, but I'm not going to post an un-tight-past-my-speed video on youtube, or I'd have people like you telling me to practise more... Lets see you play this song full speed?.. You make it sound like something that many people can do...

  • @philosoful oh god i want to so bad/ but i am held back by my equipment. i cant afford the proper pedals. i have the blasts down, just need work on the fills. if i had the right equipment i could play full speed.

  • @doublebassrox

Hahaa, rubbish. George Kollias himself has said the order of importance with pedals = your feet > your settings and then your actual pedals. Don't blame it on your equipment, in this video I'm using my old cheap Yamahas, playing Axis now doesn't suddenly make me better.

  • @philosoful i never said they would make me better, but try to achieve at least 250+ bpm on Pdp pedals that cost 100$. they are beginner pedals. for example try to run a 9.58 100 meter sprint in sandals. not quite possible is it? but"dont blame your equpiment" fag.

  • @doublebassrox

I am quoting George Kollias direct, if you have a problem with that to the point that you call me a fag I it is you sir that has the issue. Good day.

  • @philosoful If u can't play the song u srsly shouldn't either post it on youtube. Practise the whole song in full speed, then upload it and you'll get respect.

  • @mmikkk

No, because that would be inaccurate. Like your planatery duality video where you miss the 16th note flicks amongst the 8th note double bass. Hypercrit. Not contradicting yourself would earn my respect, guess you fail there.

Who said I was after your respect? I merely enjoy sharing my playing and hearing other's enjoy it. Nearly 25,000 views later I don' t that's bad...

  • ok,speed comes with time,I agree, but why posting on youtube a song that you actually can't play?this "step" comes before getting the song right, you have to do it by sourself,no need to show it to everybody, you should show us the final results. :)

  • @scaxxomaxx

That is an opinion, my opinion is different, this is my youtube, ta-dar. The final results might take 10 years to archive... that's a long time to not have any youtube. Plus, this demonstrates my ability to my potential students for teaching...

  • @philosoful yep,but that's not what a person is looking for if he searches on YT for some covers. You should at least change the title. You could reach his speed even in 20 years, but the law don't says that you must put a cover on youtube. You can still show us some easier songs if you want to show us your skills. For example:if you wanna show that you can climb Mont Blanc to the top,you don't show us a video when you can't climb Everest, you just show us you climbing Mont Blanc ;)

  • @scaxxomaxx

Did you click spam to Drummerhead77's high rated comment? Hmmmm.

Evidently it is what people have expected - it says in the description the speed deal. No, also the law doesn't say I can't post slower covers.

I'll do as I please, that's a pretty shit example as climbing any amount of Everest would be quite something and for what it's worth, last month I went up Snowdon and Ben Nevis and there is a video on here of photos...

  • GOD JOB BRO....

  • Who cares if he's playing it slow, he plays it with power and precision and not tensing his muscles which does serious damage, speed comes naturally, as one day it will come to him probably not that long away and then he'll post a video of him covering it actual speed and still have the precision and power, i say well done and keep on drumming (Y)

  • @drummerhead77

Why thank you for such a nice comment!

  • @philosoful No worries man keep it up, dont let anyone bring you down only listen to critical feedback not like YOUR A SHIT CUNT DIE!!! lol dw about those guys keep drumming (Y)

  • Dude dont put up a cover of a song that you cant play at tempo no cares if it doesn't sound like the song...........

  • @metalcorehunter

Evidently if you read the comments a lot of people do care. I'm not George and I'm not going to pretend I can play faster than what I can you utter fool. Search my posts on George Kollias's forum and find what he said about me playing slower if you still think playing fast and shit/with no accuracy is better.

  • at least go 220

  • perfect!

  • If you all are that good post a video so we can see.The guy did an amazing job.

  • That's sick man. Who cares if he's not as fast as George, It's still awesome he didn't fuck up at all and that's still pretty fast. Besides you all have to remember that he's till just a mortal like all of you and me, George Kolias on the other hand.... lol jk man sweet vid.

  • That's great. But isn't the original speed at 250bpm?

  • @Raymanx223

Thank you. Approximately yes. Also worth noting is the fact I am not George Kollias.

  • Not quite consistent with the Met but close

  • @CheifSmacho

Really? Please tell me where because I believe you are wrong and have just wasted my time watching my video twice back to check.

  • great to see someone practicing with a met

  • that was pretty fcuking good man that song is hard as fuck man keep it up

  • yeah sure its slower but i liked it still. Keep up the good work bro.

  • really awesome bro, keep it up.

  • SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • @Portnoytom

No videos on your profile of you doing any better...

  • @philosoful

That doesnt change the fact that its STILL slow.

  • @mariahnik

Which doesn't change the fact I could not care less of what you say because your probably not a very worthy drummer if you slating such pathetic comments as this. Go by a drumset if you haven't already, get to this level and THEN get back to me.

  • No beard, thats makes rufus sad ]= LOL

  • No matter how slow everyone says this is, your still a good drummer dude! :D Sick shit man.

  • Dude, where do you get the time / money to play so many instruments ?

  • @Incisionator

    Time = I don't work 9 - 5 5 days a week, quite a bit less in fact... and it's all I do + skydiving. I don't have much of a social life but am happy.

Money = I don't drink/smoke/have much out going other than on Music + Skydiving. I also didn't spend any of my EMA for 2 years (College £30 a week Government grant thing) which basically paid for my guitar rig/amp.

  • So slow, try to turn up the tempo beat man!

  • @AzAtHoTh1666

1 - there's only a few people in the world who could play this song up to tempo accurately, I am not going to try to be one of them.

2 - So I could put the metronome on 250bpm, try and play along and be super messy, if that's what you're after, watch some other covers, they exist. I'd rather play erm... in time, as us drummers tend to try to, then 'at speed' when actually the only thing at speed and in time is the metronome.

  • Better this than doing it in the original tempo and failing :)

  • the slower blast beat sounds like good old Morbid Angel blast beats, and i loved it!

  • Ahahahahaha slooowwwwww.

  • @EthanAndCodyRulez1

ahaha I don't see you doing any better and wow, moshing with a pet. Mature idea for a video.

  • @philosoful That's not me in the camera, I was in 8th grade when I filmed that.

and Take a joke. I understand that this song is hard. I play drums myself. Very technical. Great job.

  • @EthanAndCodyRulez1

"Ahahahahaha slooowwwwww." I wouldn't regard as remotely humerous, much like you're 8th grade video. I am also bored of fools on youtube saying 'you suck at this/slow, though I can't do any better'. Thank you if you actually meant 'great job'.

  • @philosoful No I was serious. Great job.

  • some awesomeness here, keep the good job, very clear and nice blastbeat

  • lol slower than george or not this kicks ass, if you dont think so, your most likely just a hater or really jelous

  • @MrXeqt

Thanks Mr! Hooraa for less of the haters.

  • i'm telling you man. Get better and then play at full speed. Fuck 185 essential salts is fucking slow ass shit. why eve post yourself playing it.!!

  • @GenitalGrinder69

    Watch 1:58 of this:

    /watch?v=JM-pAT_3klk&feature=related

    That is you.

  • @philosoful your name has lame in it no surprise

  • VERY accurate, everything spot on perfect! Now you just need to speed it up (Y)

  • kick ass man!

  • pussy, play the original speed.

  • @badassdrummer699 Ha bloody ha...your just a stupid dumbass idiot! Bet you fucking suck at drums, unlike this guy.

  • @thegreatbasher stfu, you fucking british and your fucked up crooked teeth, go drink another cup of tea

  • @badassdrummer699 oooo sorry, did I offend you- haha. I don't think so...sheez!

  • come on thats so slow my grandma could play nile at those speeds.

  • @GenitalGrinder69

I reckon the relationship between your grandma and that user name of yours is expedient.

  • i love blast beats at 180.. with the kicks too sounds rad..

  • YOU HAVE TOO EFFORT

  • I love your kick drum sound!

  • @MexicanMetal2012

I think it was sample 62 on the Alesis D4, amazing what a bit of EQ can do... tons of mids and treble in there, not much bass.

    Thanks!

  • @philosoful alesis ftw i love how much they improved the sounds to the dm5 ...

  • @IEdrummer

I've tried a DM5 and speaking only about bass drum presets - I much prefered the D4. Maybe the D5 has tons of cool other presets for other drumset stuff as I'm sure it does but I thought the kick presets where not very well suited to Death Metal bar very few. D4 seems to have a few more suitable samples to me.

  • @philosoful agreed on that but running it through a sound system u can take the crap sounding ones and they turn out amzing. and its pretty cool to flip through and see the set stuff on there lol

  • 180 bpm goood

  • The only time the sky makes noise is when it lightnings

  • @69stringibanez when it lightnings? you're a retard.

  • @leanfiend444 and your so smart

  • Didnt you have a Lashed to the slave stick cover?

  • Indeed, don't have that anymore. That used to be my warm up every day, do some double bass stuff then play Lashed all the way through at about 160bpm then keep uping the bpm until reaching normally about 180-185. I teach more than I play now thanks to bad wrists/over doing it.

  • bassdrum triggers? what set do you use?

  • @Sacrificedsoul7

Yep, this video I think = the ddrum pro triggers but new ones = Axis E-kits which I use in my Cast Down The Heretic video I think. I've only ever used the Alesis D4 drum Module though. I use a a pair of signal splitters now though so I have the kicks as 2 different mixed sounds for super thuddy/clicky/heavy tone.

  • wow.

  • pretty cool man... but need to get crackin on that tempo... push the tempo :D

  • This is the opposite of crap.

  • very very good! You're an awesome metal drummer!

  • is "Silent Skies" you band? if so do u have any songs up or something?

  • Silent Skies was my band. I quit because it wasn't consistently Death Metally enough for moi but they're still going with the 2nd guitarist playing drums and they've changed their name to 'Then The Wave Came' they're quite easy to find on myspace. They haven't done any recordings but they put an old Silent Skies song up for the time being (Further Than Lost) which actually = moi on drums. That was our most Death Metally song so needless to say I like it! S'also 2 unreleased tracks from the EP.

  • ok dude, its good u are practicing at a slow tempo. and slowly working your way up to the max speed. no matter how long it takes, perhaps post a vid of you doing the max speed when you have completed it?

  • Cheers =] Hell yes. When I can do shit up to tempo I'll have tons of vids I'm sure. So I don't have a million & one drums covers up I might try doing it all in one take/vid in the future, shall see.

    Thanks again!

  • TIGHT with the metronome, GJ man.

  • Hey man. How's it all going. We found a drummer in the end. How's stuff with you?

  • Hey man, s'going pretty good, got a lesson (me teaching) in an hour on drums, really slowly getting back into it as RSI has fucked me up for ages/having played drums like this in about a year. Am slowly doing rock beats and stuff, going to see how I cope today/if my wrists hurt and if not slowly get the Death Metal going again!

Awesome man, glad to hear it, let me know when you get some new tunes up so I can hear, all the best =]

  • At this tempo, its not extreme death metal anymore.

Play it at the right speed, then upload a video.

Its like driving a formula 1 with 30 km/h,who cares if u can play it extra slow.

  • That's funny, I see comments on your profile implying you've left other stupid comments & you have no videos of yourself doing better.

Who cares if I play it slower? Well have you even looked at the comments? and the 16,000 + views? Evidently not.

Don't waste my time with such a stupid comment.

  • Oh...are u sad?Pls dont cry cause u cant play it at right speed..Sorry...

Keep playing it extra slow and be proud of it.

    O_o

You should try and play some metallica songs at half speed too!

Everyone will think the video lags, but then u stop playing and say "hey, its not laging, its just that i can only play it extra slow!".

    Yes,yes,that would be fun!

  • Shame, living in Greece (home of Mr Kollias) I'd think you should know better. George Kollias himself will tell you it's better to play slow then speed it up and I've had him say just that to me before & if you're arguing with someone of that caliber you clearly don't know what's best for you...

  • if you can play what ever extra slow and still groove, than you must be a very, very good drummer

  • Euhm, you tru and fucking do those double bass parts, it remains fuckhard even at a slower tempo

  • crap!

  • LOL

  • keep practicin man, get it up to full speed! Nice kit btw :)

  • Thanks man, I will one day if my RSI gets better =( haven't played properly in so long but finally should start getting better now that I've stopped the job that was damaging my wrists.

    Cheers!

  • RSI?

  • Repeatative strain injury. Not sure I'm going to be able to drum properly again thanks to it now, recent attempts = pain reoccurring so time for even more absence of drumming.

  • how can i avoid it?

  • Well I got it from working on checkouts so I'd say be careful of doing that for too long but really it varies in people - some people have been on checkouts like 4/5 times as long as me in my store and are fine, it's weird.

  • oh so its nothing from drumming?

  • I'm not sure mate - probably all contributed - repeatative implys over use. At the time I had drummed about 100 days in a row - have rest in between playing lots, e.g don't play 7 days a week, I believe George Kollias himself has even said something similar placing value on rest.

  • yes i heard that and from then on i never played 7 days in a row :)

  • oh my god!!! im actually addicted to my kit, i would not be able to go without, i would go cold turkey :( . i feel for you man! perhaps i should not be on my throne as much then, i've played weeks in a row for hours and hours constantly hrmmm. This is quite concerning stuff!

    Ironically; great drumming!

  • I felt I'd not be able to go cold turkey but kind of have to. Cheers. DON'T slow your devotion down, just have days off every so often, I done it about 100 days in a row last year. People who'll actually get to George's level = rare so don't slow yourself don't, just bear in mind what might happen, having said that, I don't know anyone who's got it from just drumming - mine was related to work as well so it was probably not so much drumming but the combo of both.

    Thanks man, blast on!

  • This is the best way to learn complicated fills like Nile, fuckin idiot.

  • agreed

  • mariahnik: I EXTREMELY disagree! When you practice something, you need to do it slow and relaxed. If you're tensing yourself to get to high speed you're doing damage to youre drumming technique AND your whole body.

This is the best way to learn something - start slowly and slowly getting up to speed - day by day, week by week, month by month.

Philosoful's drumming in this video is solid and consistent. That's the most important thing.

  • Thanks man =]

  • you should get a pearl rj50 mini expansion bar for that rack its awesome and makes look better and gives you more room.

  • Not really, I have utterly no need for one and more room? It's about a hand span-long.

  • hey friend, what sizes are the toms? i mean the full sizes with depths also ;) cause they look like the exact same sizes that i like and want to get! besides, great color and all around nice setup!

    cheers

  • Holaaaa. I don't know man, it's 2 ELX shellpacks put together, drum head size = 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, I had another 12 spare from one of the shell packs and thus ebayed it and the 2 snares are Pearl free floaters, 14x6.5 copper for main snare, maple 14xsomething small for the piccolo side snare, can't remember again. They're discontinued I believe so good luck getting the colour.

  • I think you did ok, bro :)

I'd have you in my band

  • Danke =]

  • Not bad. Try it 60 bpm faster.

  • No, because it'd be sloppy as hell and then I'd get people like you pointing that out.

  • Actually, I won't point that out. Especially because I can't do it either. I was just wondering if you could do it.

  • 'Try it x bpm faster' is quite insistent as opposed to 'can you do it this much faster' but no, I can't, 185bpm as shown in my Cast Down The Heretic video is the fastest I can do tight.

  • I didn't mean to be insistent at all, my bad. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks and sorry for being so blunt then. All the best dude =]

  • i like this, good work.

  • How big is your PA dude? Im looking into buying triggers and i have a fairly decent PA system. But yours sounds awesome and im wondering if i can get a similar sound from mine haha.

  • so after you transcribed this, how did you work with the metronome. i find its too loud just sitting in your ear, and not accurate enough just watching for the light. so how did you do it?

  • I've got volume reducing ear plugs in, used to have it going straight into them but they've broke multiple times, thus now, I still wear the plugs but have it through the P.A as you see/hear in this video.

  • Totally agree, i dont play drums, but i play guitar and bass. if something is too fast for me to grasp, i just slow it down a bit. More important to be tights than fast. Especially for rythmic intsruments

  • if you cant do a song at the bpm its played at whats the point in "covering" the song... i mean ya its ok but why dont u cover songs that are ment to be played at 180 instead of 250-280 thats a huge gap

  • Because it's fun. I don't care it's a huge gap, that means nothing, I'm aspiring to playing this kind of music and it takes a LOT of work. Why don't YOU let me decide what's best for me?

  • I agree with you, and by the way, it's better if you play slow, but tight, instead of extremely fast and extremely sloppy ;-)

  • Spot on =]

  • Here's a fun fact: Practicing at a low tempo and then gradually increasing it will make your drumming much more solid and precise.

  • What a fucking retard. Ok, at the apocalypse.

  • exactly that was an amazing point... i started looking at beast and the harlot and slit wrist savior about a year ago and now i can play beast and the harlot at 2x tempo from memory and the carnifex song from memory as well... slow and solid it is...

  • The earth NEEDS your genes, please ensure they survive

  • Ok, now let's use your flawless reasoning against you:

If you spell words incorrectly, it is not the same word anymore, so why even bother typing if you can't spell correctly?

In case you're actually 21, as your account says, you should really consider going back to school.

  • if i honestly cared about spelling when writting youtube comments than i would be as lame as u and you say i should go back to school for my typing sorry this is the internet land of the abreviation i dont know about u but i dont have enough time to sit here and try to look smart on youtube but clearly u do TRY to look smart on youtube good for u man if u have no relevent response than why try and flame me you just look like a troll......and not only is my reasoning flawless but so is my logic!

  • Fuck, hadn't noticed this argument but Jamesdizzle, you ARE wrong. I have been doing this for ages and to some of my first subscribers/video commenters may have noticed how sloppy my first few videos were and the progress since, I am not bragging but I am saying the slow and steady to a metronome but pushing it works. I don't push it on youtube because that will = mistakes and I don't want idiots commenting on my 'sloppyness'. Seems the odd idiot graces me with their presence still anyway...

  • The rest of the argument that followed dunce. Learn to spell, be logical/intellectual/act the age of that beyond a 12 year old and then I will take you seriously, don't comment again because I shant care/probably won't reply.

  • people who have no logical arguement talk shit on spelling this is utube i dont give afuck about spelling and if u didnt care why did u respond in the first place .....i dont care if u respond at all u cant evan drum so i dont give a fuck and whos acting like the 12 yer old by starting an old arguement i dont care about thn not even responding back to make it look liek u got the last word...mhmmm sounds childish to me man.....learn how to drum!!

  • "smart people like me"... a smart person wouldn't say such thing... you're more like an idiot by saying that

  • Hey mate its josh (Your nile friend)

    Good shit

  • Ha, where from? *Slightly perplexed*

  • Good fucking job man! Really solid work

  • Sounds tight to me, good job dude.

  • not bad mate, but I must say, you're really good but seems like u didn't work enough on rudiments.. your 16thies from 0:10 to 0:20 sound really bad compared to the rest... work on it!! :D and an advice try to give more groove, keep it up, cya :)

  • I have utterly no idea what you are talking about; they are even 16th notes and I'm even using a metronome. More groove? Maybe I should, but, it's kinda 99% 16th notes in this song... Having said that I don't really play much other than Death Metal because Death Metal and tech stuff is all I find fun really.

  • I mean that those notes are not really even, believe me..I'm not much better than u,but both should notice it.also if almost on time, each stroke looks a little on his own, like offbeat and not "convinced",u know?make it listen to expert drummers,a teacher they would explain u better..work on 16ths notes till they go easily, with doubles and singles in the middle, rudiments.if u play ONLY this kind of music, which is riductive,u should at least dominate at all 16ths;) sorry my English, and good luck

  • Can you play it faster?

  • Could probably do it at 185ish now like my Cast Down The Heretic video but not much more than that.

  • Really solid drumming man! Do you use the Alesis DM5 Module for your triggers? If you do, can you share with me the settings you use for it?

  • Cheers man, it's the DM4 I'm using. Settings I can't remember/aren't a big deal with E-Kits. However, it's sample 62 I'm using here, now I use a signal splitter to combine to sound samples, gives it a bit of a thicker sound =) I do it in my Cast Down The Heretic video but the triggers aren't as auidoable as here.

  • Thanks a lot man! I'll mess with em' a bit more now =D

  • This is incredible man.

Is it just in your room or something? Or is it in like a small studio-ish type place...? Because the triggers sound really good and powerful.

  • Thanks alot man =) Nah man, it's my 'music room'/converted upstairs of garage, it's killer man, it's so ideal. The audio's straight from the camera as you may have guessed but the triggers are well loud in this vid, really cranked up! I love them =]

  • Those bassdrums sound just awesome, how do you make that kickdrumsound ? sample? mic choice etc ?

    Great vid !

  • Cheers man! It's a thing called triggers. You'll have to look them up to get more info but basically it = electronic sound out of the P.A, the signal path - bass drum - trigger (picks up sound) - drum module (choose sound you wish trigger to sound) - P.A. All the Death Metal guys do it, I love them =) Thanks again!
