@8288Armando for the Japanese Viewer its supposed to represent the differences in cultures and languages. Since it opens with Abh, it would only make sense to have a very "western" culture speak English.

Dude, how bad is this? Not only is the earth under attack, but from the sound of it, the guy leading the invasion of earth doesn't even seem all that interested in us (like he's been given some menial task or chore rather than an actual mission....thats just COLD, lol)

@warriorking4ever I was also fascinated with this move first time I watched the show, but ultimately it makes sense. Not spending time, resources or energy on planet garrisons allowed the Abh Empire to control multiple solar systems and made their empire very flexible not to mention powerful. They harness the local star's energy, mine the asteroid belts and rape the gas planets. They don't need any liveable plants, they control space and that, in the end is what matters :D

I lol everytime someone complains about dubs. Just because majority of dubs are of poor quality doesn't mean they all are. Infact, I like the CotS dubs, they were done well. Not the best, but they're still good.

I'm not against dubs in principle either, but the CotS dub is one of the worst I've ever heard.

The beautiful thing about CotS is its subtlety and detail, and the English version destroys almost all of it. It sounds like they handed the actors their individual scripts without explaining any of the story to them.

I so LOVE this show. It's epic, compared to most other sci-fi sagas. But really, the best part of the show is the characters. They're so likeable! Especially the interactions between Lafiel and Jinto (and their crew later).

I've read the novels, but not watched this anime until just now for the first time. I also thought the Abh language had a European look to it, Germanic or Eastern European. Though, I can hardly understand it when it's spoken here, possibly because it's from a japanese person.

Until 1:25 it's the aliens speaking in their language, which is a mix of several, including german. There's either no translation available b/c it's a made up language, or the subber was lazy. You can either get the meaning of what they're saying through the inflection and the video, or skip to 1:25.
