!984 Irvine meadows, wife was 8 months pregant with my daughter, it seems signals was imbedded in her engrams!! and 28 years later she can still sing every word off the album!!!
Absolutely amazing how this band summed up the human condition in 4 minutes while making a great song. Can't think of another song like it. Anybody heard something comparable? Regardless cheers to Rush!
@labbric what? they only have 1 top 40 song, what research is needed. If they have another one lets u know. why r u saying that ? U didnt know that? not my fault you're an idiot
Only top 40 hit? As if this is even a material question for these 3 guys. Arguably 1 of the best bands ever to grace us mere mortals with their presence. Top 40? Are you guys shitting me? Apologies, but top 40? Really, this is how you judge RUSH? Oh my, we are doomed, are we not?
@superunt43 it just a fact, its not a character flaw with the band. most rush fans would just assume they had more, just a rush trivia, not sure why u reacted to simple fact about the band.
Perfect to share with all my friends on my birthday! Love the song and the fact that this was shot in the 80's - the perfect decade for so many reasons!
I'm 50 and I've Never been to rock show EVER!!! I know, it's wierd. I graduated in 79', right in the middle of Rush, the Police, Boston, Journey, ZZ TOP, Foreigner, Heart and the list goes on and on. And I never went to a single show... And now they want 50 bucks for nose-bleed seats and I can't afford it. SAD SAD SAD
@tuvokzeta9 I bought a Steinberger L2 back in the day because of Geddy playing this one when I had long hair and was skinny. No more hair and no more skinny but I still got the bass! And to beat all the thing never loses tune.

@rbilleaud Geddy used the Steinberger on the "Grace under Pressure" recording & also on the subsequent tour. He commented at the time that he really liked the different low end that the Steinberger gave him as opposed to the Rick & Jazz bass that he had used extensively unitl that point. After this tour he switched to the Wal bass!
Music must really suck these days when I see all these comments pertaining to how great '80s music was. Sure, Rush has always been great, but really? Poison? Faster Pussycat? Kix? Winger? Motley Crue when they went soft? I graduated in 1988 and there was a lot of crap out then as well some good stuff. That says a lot about contemporary music, I guess.
You know as a kid growing up in Canada in the early 80's, I never understood why some of my older friends were so into these guys. As I got a little older, I realized why they had such appeal. What a great band.
These guys are awesome live. They play everything flawlessly. Just saw them on the Time Machine Tour last month. I am definitely seeing them next time they will be touring. Amazing show!
Martha Quinn on Siriusxm 80son8 Satellite Radio Called RUSH a GINORMASS BAND With the only TOP 40 HIT For Rush "NEW WORLD MAN". Is Martha Quinn Correct?
why do people trash this band? Never understood. Amazing musical abiltiy, tight friendship, never heard of Geddy et all busted for hard drugs etc, insightful lyrics & a sense of fun too! The definiton of a BAND & class act for over 30 yrs. How many US ROCK bands can say that? btw am from US but always prefered UK Commonwealth rock over ours since bout '67. We can like who we like & still see the show can't we? Just my opinion but people who trash Rush are missin' out.
Got to agree with you,one of the coolest, cleanest bands ever...been a fan since the first album with Rutsey...And then came Neil...these guys talents are phenomenal~!
@dhg1013 Yeah - Rush is just so underated it's crazy. But then that's coo, it makes them even more cool cause mainstream Americans don't get this band & stupid classic rock stations don't help by playing 2 or 3 Rush songs over & over albeit hit's off Moving Pictures etcare classics I love to go back to 2112 & Fly By Night plus their recent stuff is amazing! yup I am on the same page with ya here - the newest DVD/documentary release from llast year (?) is excellent to watch & own also. TA!
This song is allegory relating to the USA's position in the world. Chillingly, New World Man takes on a more sinister tone then at the time they wrote it.
@AirbrushRocks Not sure if this counts as an official music video. It's "live" but pay attention, in between songs, you hear the audience noise looped.
