i see what your saying but that approach is also full of the same problems you are talking about, sometimes more is more, over produced sound of smashing pumpkins was originally critiqued for the same reason by producers and look at the content of some of those songs, less is more is a vague meaning i think and some of the best music has been created without that concept, its not totally untrue but its used by way too many blues players who think holding a note for a minute is musical

I haven't hear anything new in "technical" guitar since I was 20 and Yngwie arrived on the scene. What i appalling is if you choose to employ a shredding technique based on something other than 30 years of neoclassical you get "shredded" by a world of Yngwie wanna-bees.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love to listen to this stuff and I recognize the skill required, but anyone who will put in the time and the study can do this. You can only do the things I do if you are clinically insane.

He just taught himself.. he's always done woodwork, and one day he thought 'sod it- I'm gonna make a guitar' and he did.. I've got 3 made by him now.. an Explorer style, 2 like in the video.. I'm very lucky to have him as a dad, he's not rich and doesn't have brilliant gear.. it's all just determination and his craftsmanship.. I've no idea how he does it !!

@Hector3251 Yes all the players in this video have a very unique voice - I could instantaneously hear the difference between them any time. Of course their sound is very similar in this video, because I mixed them all into a tune rather than just a jam session. ( This was unfortunately never done with Carlos Santana, Richie Blackmore, Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher as far as I know)

@skatolp It isn't really fair to compare my sound to the other ones in the collab. I asked the other instructors to send me "clean" files without any effects - so that I could add unison effects to everyone to make it sound more...unison! If every instructor had got to mix their own sound the result would probably have been very different (it's hard for me to find the optimal balance of effects for someone else's setup and technique).
