Okay for one. Your trying to look at this verse like it is some statement of a physical truth. but its not. Its talking about a spiritual event. But regardless, even tho the point of the verse is to talk about somethin different. u can tell that the author of this verse was aware that at a given time there would be men in bed at night and men out in the field. Well, im referring to what it actually says. the words aren't changing. but there are verses that can mean two things at the same time. the bible is not the only book that does that. and that is simply not true. the bible knows many things that the people at the time of its writing didnt understand. You tell me the Bible is all about love, how can you read a Deuteronomy 13 verse 6 and still believe that? It just doesn't add up.
There is very little doubt in my mind that if an all loving all KNOWING god inspired people to write the Bible he would have expressed these simple truths in very plain language. All god had to do was tell Luke "there are nine planets in a solar system which revolve around the sun" and I would be a believer. However the Bible was written by MEN who had no knowledge of these extremely simple truths. The only possible explanation is that god loves gullible people more than he loves skeptics.

Are you saying God intentionally expresses ignorance in the Bible in order to make religion a matter of faith and not rationality? That's pretty nuts. If the greatest crime against God is to not believe in him/her/it, you might expect to see more convincing evidence in the "holiest book ever written." Nor is there any mention what was going on in South and North America during the times when it was written. Why? You might ask. Simple. dude, if you gunna talk about it, mention all parts to do with this topic. in the new testament it says that when jesus comes back some people will be sleeping at night whilst at the same time it shall be light during the day. work it out. if the bible ent it to be a flat earth how can it be nighttime for one side of the earth and day time on another? take in all that is said about this topic from the bible before quoting a verse or two out of context with your own guesswork.

well it seems pretty clear to me if you understand what the verse is saying. it says in that day, there were men in the field and then also there were men in bed at night. So in one part of the world people were up working in the field while at the same time on the other part of the world there were people in bed sleeping. this showed that they knew the earth was round because thats the only way for it to be night while at the same time being day in depending on where you were

Are you saying God intentionally expresses ignorance in the Bible in order to make religion a matter of faith and not rationality? That's pretty nuts. If the greatest crime against God is to not believe in him/her/it, you might expect to see more convincing evidence in the "holiest book ever written." To have faith in the Bible is to have faith in the notion that God is as ignorant as people were in the Stone Age.

No im not saying that. im saying God didnt create the bible as a manual of how he did everything. He made the bible so he can show his love, and his example and a guideline for living a good life. the bible wasnt written to be a scientific journal.

@heimdog8 , If you look at it from that perspective than I agree. The teachings of Jesus Christ were a profound contribution to the moral development of our species. The core problems that Jesus grappled with were the problems we face today; greed, hypocrisy, violence, etc.. The message of the New Testament is clear. But people twisted it with their own fears and ignorance into a unrecognizable wave of bullshit. Jesus wasn't down with the rich bastards who only thought about saving their own ass

i agree and the main source of this manipulation is relegion. but did u know that jesus doesn't believe in a relegion? He is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except through Him. There are many relegions out there even some Christian ones that get away from Jesus' teachings. They try to follow tradition or some weird practice.

But i dont think because there is a lot of messed up relegions, that it reflects poorly on jesus. It is the modern church that messes things up sometimes. The only thing you can argue with is the Bible because obvioulsy indivual people and chruch bodies even those claiming to be christian can mess up the bible's message. so i try to encourage people to read the bible for themsleves rather than take a chruchs point of view.

Did the Buddhists not have eyewitness testimonies? What about Mohamed? Joseph Smith claimed to be an eyewitness? If these testimonies cannot validate their claims, why are Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John's testimonies being used to validate the Bible? Not to mention several glaring inconsistencies between the Gospels themselves. The feeling of being close to a higher power is a phenomenon observed in every religion. So they are delusional, but you are not? Interesting.
