  • Love this to bits, he really puts his heart into it with this one and his backup singers are great they compliment him beautifully here. Anyone who doesn't like this one is a putz. I had the opportunity to see him some years back now and I didn't, I kick myself every time I hear one of his CD's or watch one of these clips. I have promised myself to visit his hometown and wonderful country before I die.

  • A very sexy voice !

  • Great artist!! I always loved his music, with my favorites: Hush, hush Maria, More & More, It's you, it's you, it's you, not even to mention "Make me an island" Great applause for an even bigger artist!!!!!!

  • Will forever be missed! I will always regret not going to see him in another concert before he died as I hadnt been to one in years. I guess we never thought he would leave us! If there is a heaven I hope we'll see him again there! A true Irish star, we luv and miss joe!

  • Any one can tell me why is "die" in "I must leave you to die"?

  • @yiwufanggu Yup, at the time everybody was told that Venice would sink beneath

the waves cos of rising sea levels. and would be gone in 10 years!!

    Hence "die"

When I wrote those words I truly believed that, as did Joe and Roberto the music writer.

  • @davehowman I love all the songs Joe Dolan sung. Respect and love if you wrote some (or many?) songs for him!

  • @karabena Joe was truly magnificent! Easy to work with and his voice still towers

above almost any other singer you can name. I also worked on Sweet little rock n roller and Crazy Woman among others. I miss him lots.

  • Morrissey paid him tribute in his concert in Dublin last November - he included one of Joe songs in his usual pre-show video montage alongside the NY Dolls and the Ramones!

  • 2 great sounding things in this video

    2) Joe Dolan

Rest in peace big man u were an amazing singer

  • MickeyL.. He's now and always be the ultimate irish vocal artist pity the fuks over here in Ireland on the stations never gave him the profile he deserved when he got it elsewhere.. makes u wonder???

  • Me, big Ian, Shaw, and a few others, spent our late teens and early 20's following Joe and his drifters all around the north. Never had a bad night with Joe, the best looking girls always followed Joe too, we had a BALL!!! 6 or 8 of us going home afterwards in Ian's jag or my zephyr. Great times. Joe always spoke to us, he remembered us from gig to gig. Big man, big voice, great memories.

  • great singer sadly missed

  • I saw Joe perform this in Dublin in 2005. Surely the best irish singer ever.

  • Although this kind of music is really my cup of tea I would have to say that vocal-wise Joe Dolan is probably the greatest Irish singer or is at least up there with Luke Kelly, Phil Lynott, Enya, Frank Patterson Finbarr Wright and a few more great Irish singers.

  • the best irish singer ever :)

  • @mears89 i seen joe perform this in derry, i thank god i got that pleasure

  • I was so sad hearing of his death.I loved "Teresa" and "Make me an Island" since I was a boy. I´ve been to his grave near Mullingar in March and I told him everything I wanted to tell him during his life. He was a great voice and I thank him for a lot of very emotional moments in my life. "Goodbye Venice" is one of his best songs.

No one ever discussed if he was gay or not during his life. Why now? He was a great guy. Don´t throw any dirt on him. Bye Joe, you´re sadly missed.
