  • There are only two tenses in English- present and past. The others are aspects. If you confuse them, it makes it very difficult to talk about putting the tense on the auxiliary - so "Do you like the Beatles?" and "Are you studying for an exam?" both have the present tense marker on the auxiliary. The second sentences it the continuous aspect of the present tense.
