The Spanish/Mexicans may have built up cities such as Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Yuma, Tuscon, Mesa, El Paso, etc but they were little more then glorified trading posts. Americans turned these cities into world class citiesin terms of money and power. Americans not Spanish/Mexicans were the ones who made California the breadbasket of the world.

I happen to be Mexican-American and I do not agree that California or any states previously possesed by Mexico should returned to Mexico. Mexico is a failure as a nation and it's rather absurd that tons of Mexicans would come here for a better life and then be senseless enough to think that acquiring these lands would be great for them. Mexicans don't even have freedom in their nation, they can be put in jail without receiving protection by the law and without due process.
