"Kingdom of Asturias", "Leon" eso siempre fue el Reino de Galizia, cada cosa por su nombre, no se demasiado de historia pero este mapa no tiene mucho sentido
I think the ethnic map at the beginning is not right, among paleo-Hispanic peoples you gotta distinguish:
Celtiberians (Castile and Aragon), Iberians (Mediterranean coast), Aquitanians (or Proto-Basques), Tartessians (Andalusia and Southern Portugal), Galicians (Celtic. Hillforts culture. North west. -Bre place names), Lusitanians (non-Celtic Indo-European nation) and other Celts (-briga place names)

Overall...the Portuguese are VERY jealous of the Spanish because deep in their hearts they KNOW they are NOTHING. I can sit here ALL day long giving example after example of their limitations as a nation but i won't bother. Portuguese specialize in Spain bashing because they KNOW they made a HUGE mistake becoming bum-buddies with the Anglo-Saxons...
@ It's not true at all the borders in the video. For exemple, was in 1640 when Portugal became independent, and in the same year Catalans countries rose up and became independents for 3 years, and not became conquered at all till the war in 1707-1714. Also, Nord Catalonia, today in the french state, was conquered by France in XVIII century, but in this map doesn't appear.Spain is not a national state but a plurinational state (Galicia, Asturies, Castile, Catalonia, Basque Country, Andalusia)
Portugal never became independent from Spain because Portugal is OLDER than Spain.
And as portuguese i just desagree. If Portugal were to be under other aby Nation i would a thousond times preffer it to be Brittain (they wre here for decades after the French invasion), or France.
Anyway, thank god (better, thank portuguese people), that Portugal is sovereign.
@l23722 I really don't know what you have against Spain, specially when you guys are ethnically the same and look the same. Are you telling me that Spain was an evil empire?
@ejc45 No, i am telling you that i just wouldn´t like to be under them. Spain is falling apart. It can´t sustain it self. Portugal may be poor, but we like to be free. We do not have the same ideals as them, we do not behave as them, we do not see any advantage to be with or be them.
Like i said, portuguese people are proud of being independent, but i am sure, if the choice were to be under someone else, for sure the choise would not be Spain.
Just because we look like them we must be with them? For me Peruvians look like Bolivians. Should they be the same? Americans look like Canadians. What about? Why not join Iceland with Denmark again? Or put China under Mongolian rule once more? They all look the same after all.
@l23722 Yes they should, because they (Peru and Bolivia) come from the same culture and trust me both want to integrate themselves. I think Spain is a more develop country than Portugal. Spain is more modernize than Portugal and they are by far more advance technologically and industrially than Portugal. I think the only reason Portugal didn't want the integration is because you guys are simply proud.
@ejc45 Thats the most rediculous thing i haver heard.
Spain is more developed and richer, but not more modernized and far from being more technologiacal advanced than Portugal. Just look at the world inovation raking and you will see. Also, Spain is much more rural than Portugal and not industrialized as you said. Spain depend havely from agriculture, ond the other hand Portugal almost do not have agriculture besides olive oil and wine.
@l23722 Don't be absurd and don't compare yourself to others, you guys come from the same culture and you guys live in the same small ridiculous peninsula.
@ejc45 You are the absurd one. Since when a country must be influenced by ethic bacground? What a stupidity.
Also, Portugal do not have the same culture as Spain. Inform yourself. Spain is havely inflyenced by gypsie culture and morish culture, Portugal have no influence from gypsies and Moor influence is mainly genetical. Talk about you know. Also, Iberian Peninsula is bigger than the Balkanic peninsula, but the second one have much more countries tha the first. What an argument. Are American?
@l23722 Oh and don't tell me..you hate gypsies and morish people. You are so full of it. For your information Portugal is not considered a white race. You guys look like arabs.
@ejc45 hahaha...You are so idiot. Who said i am white? You are the one that brought that. You and those fucking spanish speaking "unity" are the ones with racial complex. I don´t care if portuguese are or not white. Kill yourself. make a favour to the world. What a stupid nazi wannabe...hahaha
@ejc45 You spanish speaking people are all the same racial complexed don't you? Gosh! We were talking about culture and you had to brought race ...hahaha...What a complexed bunch of people. Get over it.
@ejc45 Now you se the difference from Portuguese to Spanish? We don't care about what others think about us, we don't care wich race we are, we don't care about the world. We are portuguese and that is all that matters. Portugal have a saying "Orgulhosamente sós", it means "Proudly alone". What a stupid South American you are. Now i see Brazil must suffers the same as us.
@l23722 Who are you kidding? If you really didn't care which race you are then you wouldn't be pointing out the fact that Spain was "influence by Moorish and Gypsies culture". You just contradicted yourself. So do yourself a favor stop commenting because you sound silly. All of you guys look like a bunch of Arabs and you discriminate yourselves among each other, how stupid can that be!!!
@ejc45 Culture is something different from "descendence". Do you get that difference? I was talking abou CULTURE, and fact is that we portuguese do not have cultural influence from gypsies and almost none from Moors. But if you read what i wrote, i said that moor influence in Portugal is manly GENETICAL. So i never tried to show our "Whiteness" because i don't care. You said that Portugal and Spain have the same culture, and i just proved you that you are wrong.
@ejc45 Do a favour to yourself and stop talking about races.
You were the racial complexed guy that brought the theme, not me, not any spanish, YOU. You were the one that assumed that i was talking abou "Whitenesse" when in fact i was not. You are the Neo-Nazi complex guy, that juged Arab look as being something bad. I have jewish/arab look. So what? I don´t care with that, but you care, because you are complexed.
PS: By the way, Arab people are racialy caucasian. Do you know were is Caucaso?
@ejc45 I really sorry to remind you. Portugal was a Colonial master in India and thefore have several Indian decendent portuguese.
I told. No matter what you say about races, we don´t care. We are not complex as you. An by the way, fo a South American, the reageon in the world with the most racial admixture in the world, you are quite racist. can i ask why?
Portuguese invented the Mulatos. Be like us instead of hate yourself.
@ejc45 First that is absurd. Not all of us are mixed with indians or arabs ( i am jewish decendent from my portuguese father and norhern french decendent by my mothers side). Sencond being mixed does not make us better or worse. Finally, what makes us better than Spain is the fact that we don't have complexed atutudes. You and most spanish speaking people, are extreamely complexed with racial themes because you feel discriminated by english speaking world about your admixture. Chill out...
@ejc45 I would prefer that you guys steak your noses in your life and let us alone. Portugal is independent because we want to, an will remain like that as long as we want to. About our language, ther are nothing that make us more proud than to know it is the most difficult latin language.
So, too bad for you. Our will prevailed orver yours...
@ejc45 Romans were civilized by Greeks,so what you say is not true. I don't hate Latin, i just don´t like most of the latin languages. Don´t put words on my mouth. It's not the first time you try to disrupt what i say.
@ejc45 So? That is not nothing we wouldn´t know...hahaha...Portuguese is very influenced by germanic languages because of its origins in the Suebian area, and in the 19th century tryed to isolate himself from latin by adopting english and french words and grammer style.
@ejc45 Spain is not original. It's language, CASTILIAN, by the way, have words from other lnaguages too, starting by Latin. All languages are influenced by others. Your argument is just plain silly.
@ejc45 First, Portugal never copied, i tooke some words and influencies. Also, portuguese have GERMANIC influencies, nor GERMAN. Germanic includes Suebian (our main influence), Visigoth, German, English, Duch, etc.
Finally Spain have lots of other influancies like Tupi, Arabian, portugues itself (since in the middle ages the poets language was galician-portuguese),etc...
@l23722 Spanish is a Romance language in the Ibero-Romance group that evolved from several languages and dialects in central-northern Iberia during the 9th century and gradually spread with the expansion of the Kingdom of Castile (present northern Spain) into central and southern Iberia during the later Medieval period. Spanish was spoken before Portuguese even existed. So whatever you just said doesn't make any sense. In the contrary, Spanish influenced Portuguese.
@ejc45 HAHAHA. Castilian is not older than portuguese. Got check you history guide again friend. how many words in Castilian do you want me to show you that are portuguese rooted?
@ejc45 You are a south american friend. I have studied Iberian history all my life, Are you really trying to theach me?
Galitian-Portuguese (or old portuguese), was already a european language when castilian was starting to take the first staps as authonomous. Go check something about Trovadorismo...
@l23722 For your information it was only Galitian not Galitian-Portuguese (old portuguese), which in fact is still spoken in northern Spain ok. Portuguese was derived from Galitian after the 9th century, when Castilian had already been establish all over northern and central Spain. Portuguese was not settle then just yet till then after.
@ejc45 (Galician never existe. It is called Galician-portuguese because the languase was not eitheir of the mother versions).
Tha, the first portuguese base document dates from 882, or 9th century, and the first castilain document from the X century. Secondly, in 1000 Galician-Portuguese was already spoken till Mondego wile Castlian was far behind.
The proof that you do not know what your talking about, is that Castilla, at the 9th century, was a small country in the central northern part of Iberia (wich spoke Latin Vulgare, and not Castilian yet).
And in that time there were no Castlian in "Central Spain",just because "Central Spain" was still under Arab control (Do i have to remind you that Spain took 200 years more tham Portugal to reach the south and expell the moors?
@l23722 Nah, I think Portugal should not had establish itself as an independent country from Spain. One of the main reasons is because; you guys look the same, you share almost the same religion, and Spanish is a lot easer to learn and pronounce than portuguese. Phonetically, Spanish is a lot closer to Latin and Italian than Portuguese. I would had prefer the Spanish to conquer Brazil than the Portuguese, because no one understands Portuguese. Even the Italians have trouble understanding it.
@VicalvaroEnCastilla Portugal never became independent in 1640. It was in 1143 (oficially, 1128 De facto). From 1580 till 1680 Portugal had the same King as Spain, but they were not the same country, nor the empires were merged. Filipe I of Portugal granted total independence to Portugal when he assumed the throne. Actually, that was the catch that the portuguese nobility demanded from him to accept him as King. Informe your self (i hate that Spanish arrogance to thing they had anything at all).
@jondeare Spain is in a strategic place. Envied by many people. Are said to the last Neanderthals lived here. In the era of glaciation was the most habitable zone of Europe. The strongest people has fought for it. Spartans (Phoenician), Iberians, Celts, Swabians, Vandals, Visigoths, Cantabrian, Astures, Vascones, Romans, Vikings, Berbers, etc.
Napoleon gained all of the Iberian penensula. WHERES THAT!!!

@l23722 Your language sucks ass. It has a horrible accent and sounds sloppy.

@ejc45 Romans were civilized by Greeks,so what you say is not true. I don't hate Latin, i just don´t like most of the latin languages. Don´t put words on my mouth. It's not the first time you try to disrupt what i say.
l23722 6 months ago
@l23722 Phonetically and linguistically Spanish is closer to Latin than Portuguese.
ejc45 6 months ago
@ejc45 So? That is not nothing we wouldn´t know...hahaha...Portuguese is very influenced by germanic languages because of its origins in the Suebian area, and in the 19th century tryed to isolate himself from latin by adopting english and french words and grammer style.
But why is that now?
l23722 6 months ago
@l23722 You guys are not original like Spain is. You have to adopt words from other languages to make your own, that sounds stupid.
ejc45 6 months ago
@ejc45 Spain is not original. It's language, CASTILIAN, by the way, have words from other lnaguages too, starting by Latin. All languages are influenced by others. Your argument is just plain silly.
l23722 6 months ago
@l23722 Spain didn't copy from France, England or Germany. They came up with their own language style, influence only by Latin.
ejc45 6 months ago

In the contrary, Spanish influenced Portuguese.
ejc45 6 months ago
@ejc45 HAHAHA. Castilian is not older than portuguese. Got check you history guide again friend. how many words in Castilian do you want me to show you that are portuguese rooted?
l23722 6 months ago
@l23722 Yes it is, I think you got facts wrong my friend. Check your history and then we'll talk.
ejc45 6 months ago
@ejc45 You are a south american friend. I have studied Iberian history all my life, Are you really trying to theach me?
Galitian-Portuguese (or old portuguese), was already a european language when castilian was starting to take the first staps as authonomous. Go check something about Trovadorismo...
l23722 6 months ago
@l23722 For your information it was only Galitian not Galitian-Portuguese (old portuguese), which in fact is still spoken in northern Spain ok. Portuguese was derived from Galitian after the 9th century, when Castilian had already been establish all over northern and central Spain. Portuguese was not settle then just yet till then after.
ejc45 6 months ago
@ejc45 (Galician never existe. It is called Galician-portuguese because the languase was not eitheir of the mother versions).
Tha, the first portuguese base document dates from 882, or 9th century, and the first castilain document from the X century. Secondly, in 1000 Galician-Portuguese was already spoken till Mondego wile Castlian was far behind.

l23722 6 months ago

Even the Italians have trouble understanding it.
ejc45 6 months ago
@l23722 I am really sorry to tell you this but some of you look Indian like from India and some of you look Arab.
ejc45 6 months ago
@VicalvaroEnCastilla Portugal never became independent in 1640. It was in 1143 (oficially, 1128 De facto). From 1580 till 1680 Portugal had the same King as Spain, but they were not the same country, nor the empires were merged. Filipe I of Portugal granted total independence to Portugal when he assumed the throne. Actually, that was the catch that the portuguese nobility demanded from him to accept him as King. Informe your self (i hate that Spanish arrogance to thing they had anything at all).
