Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 1 in B flat major, K. 207, was originally supposed to have been composed in 1775 (when Mozart was 19), along with the other four wholly authentic violin concerti. However, analysis of handwriting and the manuscript paper on which the concerto was written suggest that the actual date of composition might have been 1773. It has a common three-movement structure.
Surprised no one has mentioned that it's one old man and a bunch of young women (nothing wrong with it ... just unusual, I suppose. Wait, is the oboist - at 00:10 to 00:19 and4:21 - a boy dressed as a girl????) - and were they told to move like that? And yes, daniellosimpson, you're right about the high D and F at 1:58.
The highest notes in that phrase are A and F, and I assume those are the ones you are talking about. I certainly hope you aren't criticizing this man without even having played the piece... of course he did botch the phrase leading up to those high notes just slightly. Overall, I would say this performance is a strong B+ almost A- -- how can you complain so damn much?
yeah those notes are A and C btw. Sorry for snapping at you, I can see how easy this is to screw up. But seriously, while he did screw up the phrase a bit, it wasn't THAT out of tune...... do you really think it was nose thumbing? I mean it just aint that terrible. I've heard worse, let's leave it at that.
The music in gernerall is great. I don`t know if it is the bad sound quality, but i think the solist playes a little too unclean. Perhaps it is a question of interprtation, but i like the one of Anne-sophie mutter better. But well, shes the best violin player around the world so...
What is going on at 1:58??? Why is the soloist so obviously and completly flat for the going up to the high note at 1:58??? Is this some flaw in the recording or video? I can't imagine that would be on the original recording the artist made of this piece. Perhaps in the "Youtube" video only(?). Otherwise excellent. I'm surprised no one else mentioned 1:58 here.

Ulf Hoelscher its a Legend here in Germany.
Please listen his cds with beethoven, Korngold,Schubert,Saint Säens and e.t.c and you will understand if he is a good virtuoso or not!!!
When he was playing concerts with great Orchestras you were ..... of your dad.
Pls a little respect to a great violinist and teacher.

I am working on this concerto, and for the upward sequence; I play it in the 4th position. I find it much easier.
I agree, there are quite a few out of tune notes, but he does do a good job of phrasing, and he has a nice feel for the piece in general.
B+
