Just for the record I believe Danny had 19 hehs to Osar's 18 hehs just before Oscar went back in his can. That was a good match up.Hopefully we'll get a rematch between these two combatants some where down the road...
Sorry Oscar...you lost after you went back in your can, DeVito got his last jab in and started to walk away. You lose by default! Awesome skit - I remember loving this and still do!
Good old Danny Devito! I've seen him in "Batman Returns," "Renaissance Man," "Matilda," "Death to Smoochy" and he also voiced Herb Powell on "The Simpsons" in 1991-1992 (which is actually my favorite Danny Devito role!)
I remember one where Oscar was trying to get some of his junk in the garbage museum...and DeVito was the museum curator. He didn't want Oscar's rotten banana umbrella or steam whistle & mud because they were not rotten enough - he ends up taking Oscar and his garbage can because he sees a masterpiece. I'm not asking for it or about it - just remembering. This one was always good too.
I also remember that skit. That was a good skit, and I hope someone has that skit to post it up onto YouTube. Danny Devito was also wearing the same costume in that skit like he's wearing here on this skit. However, I'm not sure if that skit or this skit came first. If the garbage museum skit was first, I wonder if Danny Devito recognizes Oscar in this skit, and I wonder why Oscar's trash can was taken back to the same spot out of the museum.
I thought DeVito bore a striking resemblance to Vincent Van Grouch. I actually memorized it, it was so good. I do hope someone posts it, although it might be labeled for its resemblance to the closing of Casablanca.
When Jim Henson died, I recall watching Sesame Street again, and then, for some reason, I got attached to Taxi reruns because Louie reminded me of Oscar. Apparently, Sesame Street's creators saw that long before I did. That's meant as a COMPLIMENT to BOTH loveable grouches.
I never saw this one before! I've always known the other one (clearly taped the same day--DeVito's wearing the same costume) where he plays Vincent Van Grouch, the curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Trash. I remember seeing that one quite a lot.
Damn that was hard to follow. They should have had subtitles.

Has it come to this already? Is Danny Devito best known as Frank Reynolds from Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Now I feel old.
