    Customer Reviews:

I cannot thank the guys at Kraft enough for the fantastic service they provided when I bought this guitar. And the effort they went to in helping me out was extreme. To say I love this guitar is an understatement. It damn near plays itself and my playing has improved out of site ...

  • it are nice guitars but they play single coil strats most of the time now, so why not get an american strat or so or an mexican road worn or deluxe? im looking in an price/sound perspective btw

  • @123italiano321 No, they use HUMBUCKER single coils. Regular single coils will sound like shit if you're trying to play metal.

  • @SevenisNine oh no indeed, i forgot about the pickups.. but some single coils sound good, even in metal but not as good as humbuckers indeed. but still, buy a normal strat, put other pickups in it and done :P

  • Comment removed

  • you all suck megaaaa nipples.

  • I like both but I have more of a liking for the Jackson. The Jackson necks are just so comfy to play on. They feel sooooo gooooooooood.

  • How the fuck are you supposed to tell what an instrument sounds like when it's covered up with distortion?

  • like this if you like the jackson more

  • Aren't you allowed to play the riffs as they are on the record, or why exactly are you playing them that way?

  • @IgorVonE

Copyright issues prevent them from playing the riffs exactly

  • @ThieleM that .. freakin SUCKS

  • @IgorVonE

This is nothing, watch the Mustaine ones...he can't even play his own riffs in these lessons

  • they cost too much

  • fuckin marshall amps on every demo god it makes it sound like dogshit

  • Is the dave murray stratocaster good for like metallica?

  • @robinwh96 you want metallica tone, you're going to have to get emgs

  • Jackson ftw, because of the neck. I like both anyway

  • At least try to learn some songs before presenting the guitars

  • @MrMethadrine he can't play them properly due to copyright issues..

  • @agnellone U got to be shitting me...

  • @MrMethadrine no joke dude, I heard that from him when he tested the marshall Randy Rhoads amp.. he couldn't play Randy's stuff.. I suppose it's the same in this case

  • Comment removed

  • i have never heard of these guitars before

  • Dave Murray plays a strat with a floyd. And he has been for 20+ years. Why that sig Fender exists is beyond me, it's not even useful with those specs.

  • @Jimbo1268 it's the exact guitar it was when he got it before he put a floyd in it. get it yet? no? alright i'll explain it some more. he had them do it that way so you have a choice because once you install the stuff for a floyd you can't go back. hopefully it makes sense now and you understand that it's just as useful as his.

  • @TheCollisionofworlds

Yes, I know that. But the point is, regardless who made the decision, you're asking the consumer to spend $x,xxx for a guitar that has a crappy Fender non-locking trem. It's impractical no matter how you look at it. Now, do YOU get it?

  • @Jimbo1268 It's a replica of Daves' '57 strat .. I helped build several, cos people wanted THAT guitar.. and if i had the money, i would buy it cos i want THAT guitar. And if it had a floyd, there would've been a TON more people, who want Daves '57 strat, bitching WHY DOES IT HAVE A FLOYD!

So it's clearly YOU who doesn't get it.

No one is asking anyone to buy it. It will sell BECAUSE it's THE guitar people associate Dave Murray with. And not the guitars he plays today.

  • @Jimbo1268 Because that particular strat didn't have a Floyd Rose. His current strats aren't like this, but hey, he bought the black one from Paul Kossof from Free. There was a previous Iron Maiden strat model before this model and it has a FR bridge...

  • @Jimbo1268 I am sure that you know that it is based on his most iconic Strat, previously owned by Paul Kossoff of Free. I think the specs are great - it serves a purpose in FMIC's product line; being a hot-rodded, but still classic Fender. If you want a Floyd you have the Charvel-brand or the Adrian Smith signature by Jackson.

  • @Jimbo1268 ur a dumbass if u think its useless

  • @Jimbo1268 What specs do you think make it useless?

  • @bingefeller

The fender trem. It's a $1,500+ guitar. I should not have to upgrade ANYTHING on a 1,500 guitar. I don't care who made the decision, it's a useless 1,500 guitar with that trem. It's not complicated guys, it's common sense.

  • @Jimbo1268 because he was using that guitar for 15+ years, and it sold really well, and it still does.

  • @Jimbo1268 Because the guitar is based on his original fenders, from the early 80's. No Floyd.

  • Why has the Dave Murray not a Floyd`?

  • @aerztefanmatthi

    Must be the cheaper model.

  • i fuckin hate you paul

  • Guitarworld can you please change the AMP you are using it sounds terrible with DISTORTION :( IMO

  • Floyd Rose vibrato FTW :D

  • @cmzangetsu1993 naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah simple tremelo or set bridge man right here

  • @dbzaddict444 both have their advantages

if you block your Floyd Rose it has the same effect as a set bridge

  • @cmzangetsu1993 this floyd doesnt need to be blocked. since there's no back cavity behind the floyd you can just go evh style and drop the trem against the body

  • @cmzangetsu1993 I disagree. You lose some tone because of the huge hole in the body.

Players who don't use whammy should buy a hardtail guitar. Frankly, they sound better because the body is solid wood.

  • @Metallimeister

Many disagree. Those springs act like a built in reverb...they give you an ambience. Eric Clapton doesn't like starts without the trem cavity but doesn't use the trem. WHy? Because he likes the way the chamber and springs make the guitar sound

  • @ThieleM The springs will make the tone more jangly. A solid/hard bridge would make the tone tighter and not jangly.

    I guess it's a matter of taste/preference.

I presonally don't like jangly tone and I hate reverb.

  • @Metallimeister

Totally a matter of preference. I'm in the Clapton/SRV camp of people who think the springs give the guitar an extra depth. I disagree with the 'jangle' description. Listen to Van Halen, Chris Broderick, Satriani or Vai....no jangle there.

I still like my Les Pauls and tells.

    Different tools for different jobs.

  • @ThieleM With the VanHalen/Vai exampe, you have high gain and humbuckers. I've played all of those guys guitars except for the broderick Jacksons.

In a side by side comparison, I personally prefer a hardtail version of those guitars.

Jangle may not be the perfect description, but there is a notable difference.

  • @Metallimeister Mate, I cant tell you how opposite we are haha :) To each their own! if we were the same, this wouldn't be a world :D

  • I was looking for a strat... I just found it... \m/

  • i have so much respect for all the strat players out there who rip it up with 21 frets. i'm so spoiled with my 24 frets.

  • @MParseface38 Well thank you ;)

You have to remember (or realize if you didn’t already know) that Murray bought his original when he was 20 years old because it used to belong to Free’s Paul Kossoff. If he hadn’t bought this one, he might have easily gone to a 24 fret guitar.

  • Dave Murray's guitar looks BadAss !!

  • have you ever reviewed lado dave murray and adrian smith variants ..

  • Comment removed

  • This really goes to show that just because you are using the same pickup (Super Distortion) on two very similar guitars, they still sound totally different.

Hear that Slash wanna be’s? Time to take out the alnico II’s!

  • @PBANDSNOW LOL at the alnico II's reference

  • @PBANDSNOW the Jackson has an ebony fretboard that gives a brighter tone as uses 250K pots the bleeds off the high end. It has a floyd rose that has less sustain.

The fender uses 500k pots and for a brighter tone as has a maple fretboard that is slightly warmer than ebony. It has vintage strat tremolo that strings through the body.

The guitars are similar in some ways, but there is enough that is different to make them sound pretty different.

  • @PBANDSNOW alnico 2's still sound great they dont sound like slash automatically but just because you dont like slash doesnt mean the pickups are shit.

  • @PBANDSNOW

The reason they sound so different is because the neck on the Adrian Smith guitar is much slimmer and has an ebony fingerboard instead of maple. It also has a floyd rose bridge and believe it or not, the bridge affects the tone too. It's also a Jackson and I'm assuming alder can be found in many different places of the world, they probably use a different quality. Let wannabes be wannabes, they aren't hurting anybody.

  • @Fluffypopcicle Every time someone responds to my comment, they just prove my point more and more.

What I said was that just because the pickups are the same doesn’t mean the guitar will sound the same.

  • @PBANDSNOW

No, I was responding to the fact that you implied that you thought these 2 guitars were very similar and had a completely different tone. They are 2 very different guitars and have a very different tone, and I forgot to mention that the Adrian smith model only has 1 tone nob. You said they were very similar, but there are striking differences. I did anything but prove your point.

  • @PBANDSNOW Well the fact that it has a different bridge and fretboard also contributes to that fact. But yeah... I agree. People should start making their own sound instead of trying to become someone else.

  • this is nothing like either of their tones....

  • hehe he said three-way.

  • i have no idea why people always bag on fenders, sure their squires can be pieces of cat shit but fender basically invented the electric guitar, you can't hate where the whole movement started haha

  • @BOLTSskateboarding who bags on fenders? someone who talks shit about fenders obviously has no idea about guitars. And there are Japanese made Squiers that eat original gibsons and mexican fenders for breakfast

  • @MajkeTiTvoje ...WITH A SIDE OF HASH-BROWNS AND TOAST!

  • @BOLTSskateboarding Hey I have a Squier and it sounds just like a normal guitar. I dont know what you mean by calling it "cat shit"

  • @mixwb lol i thought the term was "dog shit" never heard "cat shit" XD

  • @jmannunez Me neither, but the other guy in the comments called it a cat shit so I replied him the same way LOL

  • @BOLTSskateboarding I've played some Japanese Squires that where pretty good. It all comes down to quality control and the woods used. Doesn't matter what name it has on the headstock, how much it costs, or where it is made.

and a little history lesson: The first electric guitars made for the public where hollowbodys made by Rickenbacker in 1932. Fender created the first solidbody electric guitar the Broadcaster (later rename the Telecaster) in 1948.

  • beautiful

  • I guess the Fender's more of a true 'signature' guitar as Dave's best known for hot-rodded Fenders (although he played strat-like Jacksons and ESPs for a time). Adrian's played all sorts over the years and seems to like mixing it up more in terms of gear. Still, both great players and I'm sure great instruments.

  • Where is the freaking floyd rose ??

  • why does the murray signature only have 21 frets?

  • @Mondeoboy89 fender doesn't usually go past 21

  • @metalbassistjd i wonder why, its just one fret :p.

its why i dont get how electric guitars in general dont go up to 24 frets, does it cost alot more in production value to make that? or is it just a principle?

  • @Mondeoboy89 it's because 24 frets don't leave room for an actual neck pickup. they also take away more wood, which probably affects tone somehow

  • @metalbassistjd okey, if about ca 5 inches of wood affects the tone, i can understand it:)

i thoght it was just to make the neck longer whitout making it more expensive :p

  • @Mondeoboy89 It's because the neck pickup is usually placed right where the 24th fret would be, and that exact placement means a lot to the sound of the neck pickup in a Stratocaster, Telecaster and so on - pickup placement is not just random.

  • @TheGuitardedOne1338 okey thanks i understand now:) i thought that it just was to make the neck longer, but that will probably affect the sound somehow

  • Is the Murray Strat made in the U.S.A?

  • Is the Dave Sig. a pain in the ass when changing the strings? Or do you just slide the string in? Cause it looked different.

  • im more of an emg guy, but i like dimarzios. the only thing i dont like about dimarzios is that theyre a little too hot for my taste. im guessing rolling off the tone knob could help with that though.

  • This actually makes me want a Fender....... SOMEBODY SHOOT ME XD

  • @AnimeGuitarist21 What´s wrong with Fender guitars?

  • @AnimeGuitarist21 I don't understand whats wrong with fender?Fender and gibson are best guitars and your comment shows that you know nothing about guitars because that cheap ibanez guitars and shit BC rich guitars are not even half good as fender or gibson even if you play metal or something else amp is what make different sounds,I mean metal, rock, blues or something else guitar is very important but amp makes most of the job//sorry for my english.

  • @KaznEd94 It all depends on the players preference. Normally I go towards PRS Guitars.

  • OMG its Paul with a beard!

  • I hate it when people say "This is the guitar for you". I've got nothing against the guy but people make their own decisions about what guitars for them, don't let some guy advertising guitars tell you what ones yours.

  • @xXmoptop100Xx He's just trying to point to what direction you might want to be going to, and which one of these two guitars would fit you better depending on your style. He's not trying to say that you absolutely have to buy a specific guitar.

  • @xXmoptop100Xx i bet if you work in a guitar company, and your bosses pays you for saying that, you'll say it

  • Im just sorry that Janick Gers have no Iron Maiden singnature.

He might came later but he is the best guitarist of Maiden.

  • @MsMirko22 The Best Guitarists in Iron Maiden played in all their Classic albums and wrote all their Classic solos along with some of those Classic riffs too and they are also regarded as one of the best guitar duos in Rock's history for their amazing output and playing in the 80's

Murray/Smith created the sound of their golden era and that can never be changed no matter what people on You Tube say!

  • Fuck this jackson Adrian Smith... The best Adrian Smith guitar is the fender stratocaster HSS with tremelo sunburst and maple neck...

    Who is Agree??

  • @CriolloJulio jackson is owned by fender, and i'm sure that's your opinion but i like jackson's way better

  • @CriolloJulio

I actually prefer the Jackson one.

  • @CriolloJulio Or the Lado guitars, or the Ibanez Destroyer, or the Gibson Gold Top, or Dean.

  • @CriolloJulio 10 years ago maybe. Pick ups make all the difference.

  • @CriolloJulio Jackson is owned by fender anyway. And a strat is a strat, regardless of the brand name.

  • @CriolloJulio maybe to you but i'd rather have the jackson. also it's the exact guitar adrian plays live so who are you to say which ones better for him?

  • @CriolloJulio I is agree

  • @CriolloJulio I don't know. I have no idea who Agree is.

  • the adrian smith guitar her something like that a the guitar JEFF YOUNG (EX MEGADETH)...

  • Paul has the best job ever...

  • wow 21 frets for the first one? it sucks

  • Hmm adrian smiths guitar was made to rock. i thought it was made for jazz ¬¬

  • JESUS CHRIST PAUL SHAVE

  • And Janick GERS!!!

  • first song is Wrathchild

  • what song is the riff at 1:16 supposed to be?

  • The Fender sounds much better

  • Always that fucking Paul.

  • that 3-way switch on Dave Murray's is a real let down :(

  • @topdog2328 you can always change it...

  • how about clean sound of those 2 guitars? O_o

  • @deviato If you want a clean sound, get a SSS strat, or a tele. These guitars are built for hard rock

  • @mrciaran96 well you can be surprised how many guitars can sound great even with clean and dirty sound ;)

    just try it ;)

  • my 5 years old son play better than he, he doesn´t deserve touch these guitars

  • @abcde6409 In My Ass

  • @abcde6409 In my a**

  • Im really more into jackson... but the san dimas is one of the worst guitars, Jackson ever made...

  • @IRONMAIDEN1762

Having known a lot of people who own this guitar they absolutely love it. Just like all Jacksons it kick ass

  • shut tha fuck up i dont wanna listen an asshole who likes to chew dicks i wanna listen the guitars

  • What amp is he playing into?

  • What amp is he using sounds like shit.

  • hi ive got a budget of £400 is there a good strat i could get for that?

  • @sonnyd124 Well you could get a Mexican strat, there $500 I think that is like 300 pounds, there great guitars they make a HSS version and a standard 3 single coil version.

    hope that helps.

  • @Loganator259 i think ill that thanks

  • @sonnyd124 Fender Mexican and change out the pickups.

  • @sonnyd124 If you stretch your budget by about 75 pounds, you can get an American Special Stratocaster.

  • isn't this whole video a commercial for guitar world? now I have to watch a shampoo commercial before i can watch a guitar commercial. that blows.

  • just got my adrian smith great effin guitar would never trade it or sell it!

  • How come everyone makes such a big deal about adrian smith and his guitars , I mean Dave taught him how to play in the first place and yet everyone acts as if he isent as good as Adrian .

  • @TheDnm666 I think because Adrian got lots of credits for lyrics and music. But i think maiden wasn't like this without Dave. Dave, Adrian and Janic are all great.

  • la fender revienta. un sonido mas limpio con mas sustain a jacson le falta es buena .pero fender es fender...

  • I dont understand why fender didnt put a floyd rose on the dave murray strat. The original that dave use got one.

  • @joost066 Actually, the original guitar that Dave used was a vintage Strat. The body was early 60s and the neck came from a 50s model. WAY before the Floyd Rose. Davey eventually fitted the guitar with a Kahler, which can be seen in the Aces High video. I don't think he started using Floyd Roses until he retired the original strat in the late 80s/early 90s. Ever since then, though, he's used Floyds.

  • @CherokeeMusic looks like a floyd origonal to me its to long bac of the bridge to front of the bridge to be kahler. and its mounted uting pins not to a 4 bolt mout which is what kahler uses.

  • @joost066 That is not true. Dave had two black strats. The one with maple neck did not have a floyd rose, that is the one that the signature is based on. But he had another one with rosewood and that one had a floyd rose.
