I am in TJRA. Tn JR rodeo ass. i have tamed the broncs to trust me. in the middle of summer, they had no food or water. The steer love me ......... just not the bulls. Not all rodeos are like this!!!!! I know plenty of people who own rodeos horses and cattle and they get treated better then a house pets! And yes i agree what i see is wrong!! Alot of cowboys make there living on this. Again not all rodeos are like this!
I do rodeo (barrel racing mainly) but around my parts where i live, its small town and small rodeo operations, we love and take very good care of our animals, granted we don't do some of the events these big rodeos do but all i know is dont be saying all rodeos treat animals bad cuz ours doesnt do any of that shocking or pulling tails and our animals are all loved and taken care of!! I love my horses like my children! and ive seen nothing but animal respect around here... Rodeos are not Bad!

i have baby calves and they do not need to be roped to be handled. they are tame as can be. ive never seen a humane rancher rope a calf to handle it, they guide them into pens. The roping is just for cruel peoples entertainment. If its so humane to torture a poor animal then why dont we bring true gladiators and slavery back? its only for entertainment. technicly we are animals too by anatomy so itd be just as humane by rodeo standards.

Is it right to enjoy the maiming of animals? Dog fights used to be big - But here, in the present, would you support them because they entertain humans? In the old west, farmers would never treat their animals in a way that would harm them, and the rodeo does just that. Additionally, rodeos and hunting are two entirely separate issues. One involves what is probably necessary suffering, and the other does not.

What ISN'T our heritage is allowing jerkdowns, using flank straps, spurring, using electric prods, and steer wrestling. Those things simply were not done in the old west. A true cowboy would not want to injure his horses, calves, or steers as cowboy knockoffs do in rodeos. Rodeo may have historical roots, but it has grown into something corrupt and cruel.
Like I said. Calf roping is done on farms/ranches. Thats how they get the calf down so they can do whatever they have to do. You have not been to a real rodeo. The ones where I live are great and the animals are very well taken care of. When an animal breaks something they are immediately taken out. Just because this shit looks bad on the video. Yanking a steer's neck to a 90-degree angle and further is brutal, and as I mentioned before, real cowboys would not want to injure their stock. And, let me reiterate, calf roping is not cruel in the basic form, but because it is timed, rodeo 'cowboys' stop their horses sharply so the calf is snapped back and flung to the ground.

What are the statistics on animal (bovine/equine) deaths/injuries in rodeo vs all other forums ie the show ring, general population, etc? You want to see REAL abuse? Go to a sale barn,/auction or a feedlot (where they "grow" cattle for your steaks & burgers or are all you "animal lovers" vegitarians?), OR a slaughter facility! I live on a cattle ranch, am married to a bullfighter, and grew up in rodeo with a famous rodeo co. Those animals make us money! Injury is expensive & loss is devastating

k electrocuting them that barely hurts them. We do that with dairy cattle when they wont get up for their next milk. Pulling the calves tail dont hurt them that bad!, we do that so we can get them to move, also broncs only have the strap on for a bit more then 8 sec. @Carbunkal hahaha alright sure! ... but that doesnt just happen in rodeos, I work with professional horse trainers and I work at a local equine vet, and when we train the young horses for western pleasure you should see the cuts on the sides of them from the spurs, and our vets dont consider is abuse, so seriously these videos are completley pointless !

Rodeo is never going to stop. The animals are never stunned with guns and the straps dont go around the groin. There is a reason its called a flankstrap cause it goes around the flank. I also hate when Peta people put the good hunters down. I hunt. fish and go to rodeos. Hunting is good because it keeps the population down and if hunting wasnt around the animals would starve and fishing is the same way. If you dont know people hunt and fish for their own food.
2.) The are the flank strap encircles is, in fact, known as the groin, and includes the flank.
3.) How can you say stun guns are never used? It is right there in the video, plain and simple. They are used on horses as well in 'big' rodeo's such as the Cheyenne.
4.) Look at a picture of a horse's anatomy. There are no bones where the flank strap sits, but plenty of organs. Squeeze that, and it will have an agonizing effect.

i am a rodeo go-er. i love rodeos! i also love animals. this video emphasizes the bad parts about rodeo. i have been going to rodeo's since i was very little and i have only seen one animal be injured. and no one was even near the animal. the calves tails are not that sensitive. have any of you ever been on a ranch. i have. they put calves in a shute, put them on their side and cut out peices of their ears, give shots and chop their testacles off. and you know what, the calves are just fine.

First of all the flank straps don't hurt them at all they aren't that tight. Plus even with out them the horse would be likely to buck anyways because they haven't ever been handled. The bulls would still buck without the shock. And not all rodeos support these type of things. Next thing bucking horses aren't halter broke and they aren't tied in trailers for transport they are loaded in a stock trailer and taken there. You will never stop rodeo its an american tradition!

An animal's nervous system is more developed than our own and they feel pain and fear more intensely than us. Rodeos are guilty of subjecting animals to constant fear and very often pain. It is abuse no matter how you look at it. So, yes, I think we have every right to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

I have been to many rodeos and have never seen calves been dragged or cattle prods been used. There is a skill in roping calves and the cowboys in the video obviously don't have that skill. In Rodeo's case, they're just trying to scare you. I've been to far too many Rodeos that have gone well to believe they are "cruel." I do rodeo (barrel racing mainly) but around my parts where i live, its small town and small rodeo operations, we love and take very good care of our animals, granted we don't do some of the events these big rodeos do but all i know is dont be saying all rodeos treat animals bad cuz ours doesnt do any of that shocking or pulling tails and our animals are all loved and taken care of!! i have baby calves and they do not need to be roped to be handled. they are tame as can be. ive never seen a humane rancher rope a calf to handle it, they guide them into pens. The roping is just for cruel peoples entertainment. Is it right to enjoy the maiming of animals? Dog fights used to be big - But here, in the present, would you support them because they entertain humans? In the old west, farmers would never treat their animals in a way that would harm them, and the rodeo does just that. Additionally, rodeos and hunting are two entirely separate issues. One involves what is probably necessary suffering, and the other does not.

What ISN'T our heritage is allowing jerkdowns, using flank straps, spurring, using electric prods, and steer wrestling. Those things simply were not done in the old west. A true cowboy would not want to injure his horses, calves, or steers as cowboy knockoffs do in rodeos. Rodeo may have historical roots, but it has grown into something corrupt and cruel.

Like I said. Calf roping is done on farms/ranches. Thats how they get the calf down so they can do whatever they have to do. You have not been to a real rodeo. The ones where I live are great and the animals are very well taken care of. When an animal breaks something they are immediately taken out. Just because this shit looks bad on the video. Yanking a steer's neck to a 90-degree angle and further is brutal, and as I mentioned before, real cowboys would not want to injure their stock. And, let me reiterate, calf roping is not cruel in the basic form, but because it is timed, rodeo 'cowboys' stop their horses sharply so the calf is snapped back and flung to the ground.

What are the statistics on animal (bovine/equine) deaths/injuries in rodeo vs all other forums ie the show ring, general population, etc? You want to see REAL abuse? Go to a sale barn,/auction or a feedlot (where they "grow" cattle for your steaks & burgers or are all you "animal lovers" vegitarians?), OR a slaughter facility! I live on a cattle ranch, am married to a bullfighter, and grew up in rodeo with a famous rodeo co. Those animals make us money! Injury is expensive & loss is devastating

Pulling the calves tail dont hurt them that bad!, we do that so we can get them to move, also broncs only have the strap on for a bit more then 8 sec. Rodeo is never going to stop. The animals are never stunned with guns and the straps dont go around the groin. There is a reason its called a flankstrap cause it goes around the flank. I also hate when Peta people put the good hunters down. I hunt. fish and go to rodeos. Hunting is good because it keeps the population down and if hunting wasnt around the animals would starve and fishing is the same way. If you dont know people hunt and fish for their own food.

2.) The are the flank strap encircles is, in fact, known as the groin, and includes the flank.
3.) How can you say stun guns are never used? It is right there in the video, plain and simple. They are used on horses as well in 'big' rodeo's such as the Cheyenne.
4.) Look at a picture of a horse's anatomy. There are no bones where the flank strap sits, but plenty of organs. Squeeze that, and it will have an agonizing effect.

A terrorized horse wouldnt move at all, let alone buck. My family raises bucking stock and these animals are treated better than your house pets. i am a rodeo go-er. i love rodeos! i also love animals. this video emphasizes the bad parts about rodeo. i have been going to rodeo's since i was very little and i have only seen one animal be injured. and no one was even near the animal. the calves tails are not that sensitive. have any of you ever been on a ranch. i have. they put calves in a shute, put them on their side and cut out peices of their ears, give shots and chop their testacles off. and you know what, the calves are just fine.

What the hell are you people thinking? I have been around rodeo stock my whole life and they are not tame at all. You people are retarded as hell. Oh and steer wrestling yeah a two hundred pound man can really hurt a 500 pound steer. And the horses are not tied in trailers for transport. get a damn life!!!

First of all the flank straps don't hurt them at all they aren't that tight. Plus even with out them the horse would be likely to buck anyways because they haven't ever been handled. The bulls would still buck without the shock. And not all rodeos support these type of things. Next thing bucking horses aren't halter broke and they aren't tied in trailers for transport they are loaded in a stock trailer and taken there. You will never stop rodeo its an american tradition!

How did the injuries appear on the horses flank area? The straps had to have been tight to cause those kind of sores.
And if the horses are going to buck anyway, why use them at all?
And why pull the calves tails and use hot shots on the horses and bulls if they are already wild and ready to buck?

thats funny i used to do rodeos until i found out about the straps. Why do you need them if the horse will buck without them cause hes wild, right? The strap is put their to cause discomfort on its crotch. Let me ask you something. Your willing to follow tradition even if its proved at all lengths abuse? Rodeo is sadist, humiliating, and pathetic. This is why I converted to Nevezorov's method. I have no need to eat meat or even use halter or bit anymore. Lets have an apocalypse for Rodeo!!!!

An animal's nervous system is more developed than our own and they feel pain and fear more intensely than us. Rodeos are guilty of subjecting animals to constant fear and very often pain. It is abuse no matter how you look at it. So, yes, I think we have every right to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
You cannot possibly have a soul if you condone this wretched abuse.

I have been to many rodeos and have never seen calves been dragged or cattle prods been used. There is a skill in roping calves and the cowboys in the video obviously don't have that skill. As I said before hard target cherry pick and edit footage. Where exactly did this rodeo take place or was it filmed just for a shock story? Hard target will go to any lengths for a shock story to get peoples attention and sell their rubbish. It's sad that people believe everything they see on tv nowadays.

Because people is suffering too doesn't mean that we can't care for animals also. Why do one thing have to exclude another?
My idol, the late author Astrid Lindgren (Pippi Longstocking etc) is a perfect example for that. She worked her whole life against animal cruelty and for human and childrens rights. She would turn in her grave if she saw this.

This Is so not right. I handle horses and I can tell you some horses just buck!!!!! Your vet really needs to get her head checked I wouldn't want her around my animals! Have you ever touched a shock prod??? I have!!!!!! It is more startling than anything else. The tail thing we used the tail to help get an animal up or to keep a cow from kicking and they were not crying out in pain. Animals will let you know when they are in pain. I am not affiliated with the rodeo.
