I'm guessing you could get somehting close to that out of a Strat and a Fender amp. It looks like the lead singer is playing a Twin Reverb and I'm not sure what the lead guitar player is using.
Me too haha. A Bandit 112. I want a tube amp, I was thinking Marshall for the longest time but I'm starting to maybe lean towards Fender. Possibly a Deville or Twin Reverb like Sawao Yamanaka (the lead singer) is using.
Yeah they are expensive but it's worth it if you really want that sound. Atleast I think so. Yeah the Dual Terror loks really cool. I'd like to own an Orange amp as well. Not sure what model though. I think I want somehting with a little more power than the Tiny Terror or Dual Terror. I probably don't need all that power but I like knowing I can shatter the windows if I want to haha.
Haha, yeah. Well form what I understand you can run the Dual Terror at 30 or 15 watts. So you have a practice level and then a level you can jam with a band at.
fnder cyclone and a fender twin reverb, clyclone is basically cut down fat strat, lead guitarist, yoshiaki, is using a fender mustang thourgh a orange OR120, you'll maybe get close to this with the AD30HTC and the 2x12 cab, but it wont be nearly as loud as the OR120. I have the 140watt version of the AD30, its loud.
Definitely not from a Strat. Most generic sound ever.
That is a Fender Mustang, which has its own distinct tone. They have reissues for under a $1k. Or if you're into vintage, under $2k for a decent condition 70's one.
Depends on what model strat. The only ones I've actually enjoyed the tone without tone bandaids (pedals) were actual 60's strats and the classic player's 60's strat. And the Highway 1's are pretty damn nice too. But the rest seem kind of lackluster.
@fullmetalfunk The mexican Strats have definitely come up in tone. I was sitting with a 2009 model a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised. It's not GREAT, but enjoyable, and definitely an overall improvement in quality.
Yeah I love my Mexican Strat, I'm going to swap out the pickups but it sounds good. It's obviously not an American made but with the right work and the right touch you can make any guitar sound good.
This band reminds me more of Dinosaur Jr. They are simply amazing and unique in their sound. It's a very cultured style that they play/sing in. Good stuff.
They've always had ne but since Ueda Kenji-san left to do other things they employed Kashima Tatsuya-san and now Suzuki Jun-san as a guest musician out of respect for Ueda-san.
Manabe is so good.

I'm talking about the lead guitarist playing through the orange.
GrimKage 2 years ago
Oh well..once again he's playing a Fender as well so you could probably get a close sound out of a Strat. What kind of amp do you use?

I have a peavey, you?

lol true but anything over 30w is more than neighbours can bare. I have a 30w peavey and I think it's too loud practice D:

If you use a Strat right they don't sound generic. They can be some of the sweetest guitar tones you'll ever get.

Well I guess it's all persoanl taste. I think some great tones can be achieved even from Mexican made Strats like mine.

I love this band and song! Why do they remind me of an asian version of Weezer?
killerklown91 3 years ago
They really aren't that much like Weezer...
Zeppelin211 3 years ago 3
I think that Asian Kung-fu Generation is a lot more similar to Weezer than the pillows, specially in the indie phase.
OkuramTC 3 years ago
That's because The Pillows influences weren't Weezer, it was bands earlier on, more raw indie like The Pixies and Built to Spill.
