Great game!! I'll never forget dumb-ass Tom Arnold welching on the bet with ASU's head coach Dirk Koetter to display an ASU helmet on his show if ASU wins the game. What a pussy!! I think the Devils are 2 for 2 vs Iowa, but I think we played once at Iowa and lost. I looked on line and can't find the answer. Will look forward to the next meeting---hopefully with the same results as this game.
This was the game that prompted O'Keefe and Ferentz revamp the offense. We had lost 4 running backs to injury and were breaking in a brand new offensive line and quarterback. We still lost at Michigan the next week but then ran off 8 straight wins en route to a Big Ten Title and a miraculous and thrilling Cap One Bowl win over LSU and a final ranking of 8. Tate, who looked absolutely like a deer in the headlights, went on to become all Big Ten and a virtual Houdini.
